Went a second and third time while staying in the area. Just as good as the first experience, and the ice cream is fantastic as well.

We found Cove Point, it looked quaint, so we thought, why not? Walking in, we were greeted by a gentleman who was not entirely personable, but oh well. We were seated promptly and had an opportunity to review the menu. The menu itself was limited to some degree, which was fine. There were several pizza options, salads, and sandwiches available. They have a full bar, local beers, and several non-alcoholic beverages. The one thing that really stood out to me was the prices. My wife had a salad wrap, and I had their standard burger. Both were $17.00?? This far up north?? The food was fine, certainly nothing to write home about, but I can't help but feel that both those entrees were a wee bit overpriced.

It is small, not many tables but wasn't terribly busy on a Thursday at lunch. It has a north woods feel with a cute mural covering one wall. We started with totchos which were fine and a local tap beer. My husband got the wings, they were crispy and tasty, he was pleasantly surprised. There were only six wings in the order so the price at $16 was rather steep but expected being on the north shore. I ordered the turkey focaccia sandwich. It was so good! The bread was fresh and crispy and the turkey was thick cut turkey slabs with fresh sprouts and aioli. It was a big sandwich but I ate it all because it was wonderful. I upgraded to onion rings, they were average.

We had a much longer wait for pie at Betty's, and were lucky to get a parking place at all. It was mobby, and it wasn't even the weekend! There was about a 10 minute wait to order at the outdoor window, and a 15-20 wait for our slices. Most of the people ahead of us seemed to be getting pie shakes. In addition to the apple pie slice, we bought a toffee cream one. We ate it soon after our visit. It was delicious. The pale crust reminded me of shortbread, the filling light, sweet, and creamy, with what seemed to be Heath bits throughout. It was great and surprisingly not filling at all. As for the apple pie comparison, Betty's version was more cohesive a crust and easier to eat, but it was also surprisingly bland. The thicker crust at the edge was dry, too. The fillings from both bakeries were quite close, both good. From Betty's, we liked the cream pie slice much more than the apple. For classic double-crust apple, Rustic was best between the two.
