Sometimes (rarely) they have coffee and once in a while they have an ice cream or sno-cone truck. The Farmer's Market is a great idea. More consistent quality goods, more and better quality local food, more shade and free craft activities for kids would make this market really shine.

Heddin farm is the one who runs the market and I've heard that they can't stand any type of suggestions or concerns from customers. The rest of the vendors are crafters and pyramid/MLM scheme 'businesses' pretending to be entrepreneurs, selling random things akin to snake oils. I heard the vendors gossiping about each other and how slow the market is and how they don't make much money there. Why be there then if you hate being a part of it? I guess they aren't there long anyway. They go through vendors and coordinators like crazy. I went there 6 times and each time I found a vendor I actually liked they were gone the next time! The whole market seem full of drama and the ambiance is basically just hot boiling heat with little shade from the trees on dry grass and get bitten by ants. I tried to eat some of the food being cooked there and the food wasn't even good. They try to run ads on Facebook to make it seem like a fun place to be. Yeah only if you want heat stroke an to feel awkward by being the only 2 people shopping at this market. I'm done going here. Do not recommend shopping or being a vendor here. Go somewhere else.

There was also a lobster food truck there if you're hungry. Parking was easy and nice, but if you're looking for just a pit stop on your way past town, it doesn't hurt to swing by to walk around. It's small so it will take you less than 2 minutes to see all the vendors.

I love that I was able to meet the owner and get a chance to check this place out. I was told , weekends have pop up . I bought some fresh produce and my favorite snack food, kumquats. The vendors either take cash or check. You can get cash from inside the gas station, the cashier will do it for you for a $2 charge (like an ATM). What they do offer is lots of local products like baked goods, soaps, salsas and unique crafts. I love supporting small, local businesses so this market is right up my alley. I copped some yummy French macaroons and a spicy marinade that I can't wait to try with some fish for dinner. It's small and the location changes every other week so be sure to check their website before you head out. I would definitely recommend visiting if you are in the area but I would not make a special trip or anything.

I came here to buy bags of food items to re-stock my pantry. The huge bag of Gari bought was spoilt, has foul odor and taste horrible and unfit for consumption . Everyone in the family spot confirms this immediately. I had on other occasions over looked spoilt yams bought from this store by just trashing them and moving on. But on this occasion , i had to drive 40 miles with the bag of Gari back to them ,so they could at least see for themselves what they are selling to the public. Their customer care was so poor that they refuse to even touch,smell or taste the gari to confirm. They were so rude and lack any iorta of customer care , they just told me nothing is wrong with it and nothing could be done about it. I advice them to taste from the batches of same batch of bags on the rack were it was sold from to confirm, the never bulge nor show any remorse. I was not ready to ruffle my gentleman-ship because of a bag of gari, i simply left it with them and went to a nearby African Store at Richland to buy another bag of Gari. My issue is not that the berries are repackaged nor is it about whether berries are in season locally. My concern is the lack of transparency. To me, the presentation and lack of labeling/pricing feel misleading as a customer. For example, if commercially grown berries (such as pesticide heavy Driscolls) are repackaged into open fruit baskets and sold in a store called a farmers market with no labels, pricing, signage, or disclosure of their source unless someone specifically asks, a customer could assume they're locally grown. (I'm using Driscoll's only as an example as again, I have no idea what brand you actually sell.) There's also a food safety concern. Repackaging produce into unlabeled containers removes Traceability customers rely on. If a specific lot was recalled because of an outbreak, how would customers know whether the berries they purchased were affected? I don't work for the Texas Department of Agriculture, so I'm not claiming any of these is a violation but the lack of transparency could raise consumer protection concerns. At the end of the day I simply believe customers deserve clear information about what they're buying.
