Let me just say this: I've lived in a lot of cities, and nothing, I mean NOTHING, touches The Four Way when it comes to soul food. First of all, I am completely obsessed with their turkey and dressing. I dream about it. It's the perfect blend of everything and it feels like Thanksgiving every day!!! Add the gravy, ask for extra on the TD - yes I know the shortcut for the meal! I also get extra cranberry sauce on the side. Then there's the baked chicken, fall-off-the-bone tender, perfectly seasoned, and honestly, just as good as Aunt Bay Bay used to make (don't tell her I said that). The mac and cheese is creamy, cheesy, golden on top, the kind that is made with the béchamel! It instantly takes you back to family dinners. And it's not just the food that keeps me coming back. It's the consistency. Every single time I've been, the food is hot, delicious, and exactly what I hoped for. The staff is friendly and warm--you feel like you're at home the moment you walk in. There's this beautiful energy there. By the way, Stax music artists and Dr. King used to go to the private room there. It's historic! This place is a Memphis treasure. A national treasure, honestly. The kind of spot you bring visitors to when you want to show them what real hospitality tastes like. If you've never been to The Four Way, stop what you're doing and GO. Get the turkey and dressing. Thank me later.

I finally got a chance to visit this Iconic Restaurant. I treated myself to lunch and thank goodness it wasn't too crowded. It felt like I was stepping into a time capsule so to speak. You could feel the significance of this place all around you. I was very warmly welcomed and questions answered about the menu. I decided to order chicken wings, Mac and cheese, dressing and yams. As I wait for my food I noticed a few tourists enjoying themselves and swapping stories about the civil rights movement. I love all of the pictures and memorabilia inside to remind you of what took place. This place not only fed the people but it fueled the movement in many ways. It was a gathering place for the brave men and women to keep on going. The chicken was perfectly cooked, the Mac and cheese and yams were also good.

Seen them on Facebook. So I decided to try them. The food was awesome I just wish I got the fried green tomatoes.

The Four Way was the first stop on our annual Juneteenth trip, and as soon as I walked in, it felt like I had stepped into an auntie's house after she'd just cooked Sunday dinner. No frills, but plenty of flavor and fixings! The menu is huge, and so is the seating. We lucked out with timing because right after our party of 12 ordered, a huge lunch rush came in. Clearly, this is a popular spot. I ordered the fried chicken with mac and cheese and cabbage. The mac was super cheesy, just how I like it. The chicken was fried to perfection. Crispy outside, juicy inside. The cabbage could've used a little more seasoning, but it was still solid. The cornbread was the standout. It was fluffy, flavorful, and warm. I washed everything down with an Arnold Palmer that was the perfect balance of sweet tea and lemonade. What really stood out, though, was the hospitality. Even as the place got busier, the staff remained warm and welcoming. One person in our group had a delay with their order, and the team went out of their way to check in and make sure she was taken care of. I loved all the university flags hanging along the stairs and the Memphis and Black history displayed throughout the space. It felt like having lunch in a living museum. They had just hosted a big Juneteenth event the weekend before, which they said had a great turnout. There's plenty of parking, and I really appreciated how rooted this place is in the community. You can tell it's more than just a restaurant, but moreso a local mainstay.

If you're searching for a spot that truly knows how to feed the soul, look no further. My wife and I recently had the pleasure of dining atbfour way soul food restaurant, and from the moment our plates hit the table, it was clear--we were in for something special. I ordered the Turkey and Dressing, and it did not disappoint. The turkey was tender and juicy, with just the right amount of seasoning to make each bite flavorful without overpowering the natural richness of the meat. The dressing was the star of the plate--moist, savory, and clearly made with love and experience. It had that perfect blend of herbs and texture that reminded me of holidays at grandma's house. The mac and cheese was pure comfort: creamy, cheesy, and baked just enough to get that golden crust on top. And the candied sweet potatoes? A warm, sweet hug on a plate--rich with cinnamon and just the right amount of brown sugar glaze. My wife went with the Fried Chicken Plate, and I had to sneak a bite (or two). The chicken had a perfectly seasoned, crispy exterior that gave way to tender, juicy meat inside--classic and done right. Her sides were just as good. The buttery corn was simple but satisfying, sweet and rich with a little bit of salt to balance it out. And the coleslaw brought a nice crunch and tang that cut through the richness of the meal, rounding everything out beautifully. The service was warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere felt like a family gathering. Everything on our plates tasted homemade, soulful, and intentional. If you're in the mood for food that hits your heart just as much as your stomach, this place is a must-visit. We'll definitely be back--and next time, I'm eyeing the pork chop.

Reasonable pricing. Service was fast. Portions are good. The fish poboy was delicious. My turkey and dressing was okay. The dressing was a little small in portion and the shredded turkey wasn't appealing visually. Had never had turkey served that way. Probably would have been better if it was plated better.

Best food in Memphis! FOOD: I got the fried chicken, mac and cheese, turnip greens, corn bread and candied yams. Everything was amazing and cooked to perfection. Good classic soul food flavor. The texture and flavor on the fried chicken was especially perfect. I also had the VIP sweet tea lemonade...it was soooo good!! Best sweet tea I have ever had! SERVICE: Everyone was sweet. You could feel the southern hospitality. AMBIANCE: It was such a treat to eat in this historic restaurant. The decor is classic. Nothing fancy but clean and a lot of character. Overall, would I come back? Yes and I would recommend it to anyone visiting Memphis!

Memphis Black Restaurant Week 2024! This time, mom and I tried Four Way...FINALLY! We've been trying to get them during black restaurant week for years, but never seemed to be able to get through to order. They have online ordering now, so we tried again. Online ordering was simple enough, although we didn't realize there'd be a limited menu for this week. It's all good though. I'm glad we ordered to enjoy at home because when I went to pick up the food they were super busy! Now I see why we had trouble getting through in the past. Parking and seating is also pretty limited. Mom ordered the three wing special with green beans and mashed potatoes with gravy. I ordered turkey and dressing with yams and greens. We ordered VIPs to drink and each combo came with a cornbread muffin. I wish we could give 1/2 stars for reviews, because I truly enjoyed everything except for the greens. I'd probably give them a 4.5 star rating just because I didn't like the greens. The chicken was seasoned and fried perfectly. The turkey wasn't dry and the dressing was very good. The yams, green beans and mashed potatoes were all yummy. The cornbread muffin was moist and sweet. The VIP was mixed just right. Pretty good overall. I would definitely eat here again. I'll just skip the greens next time.

A must stop in Memphis Tn. Family owned and ran! We ordered 3 whole wings with 2 sides meal Mac and Cheese and turnip greens. The fried chicken is the best in the city if you ask me There is plenty of seating however during peak times there maybe a wait. Parking is on the side and the back of the building. Be prepared to feel like you're at home with family, the space is filled with historical photos of the best and memorable parts of Memphis. There are two lines when you enter one for take out and one for dine in.

We did a quick pit stop in Memphis for lunch. I read great reviews on Four Way but as a party of eight its not easy to please everyone. Let me say that this place did not disappoint! The fried chicken was crisp to perfection. The candied yams were not too sweet, they were just right! Don't forget to grab The Four Way VIP...it's so refreshing. I look forward to returning to Memphis for another memorable meal

If you want something fried and delicious, this is the place to visit! From the fried chicken wings, to the catfish, to the fried green tomatoes, and even French fries, everything is made fresh to order and is perfectly crispy. When you enter, you will order and pay before sitting down. As you sit, all of the employees provide excellent and efficient service. It has a homey, comfortable feel inside. Make sure you try a VIP drink - their version of an Arnold Palmer. I recommend the yams as a side and any of their fried items, which again, are crispy AND perfectly seasoned. The Four Way has true soul food that heals and comforts.

Chicken Fried Steak with macaroni and cheese and potato salad. Fried chicken wing on the side

Four Ways is historical and a solid Southern meal, but the ambience and service was mediocre. I went for a late lunch and luckily there space in the parking lot or I would have kept driving. The area around Four Ways is pretty depressed and didn't feel very safe. When you enter there are 2 line choices: to go or dine in. Either way you go up to a guy manning a computer to order. After order you get directed to a cashier to pay and either wait for your to go or assigned a table. The quick service feel took away from the ambience. Pricing was fair as most entrees with 2 sides were about $12. There are runners to bring drinks, refill drinks, bring your food and clear tables. My chicken fried steak was good sized and tasty with some decent macaroni and cheese. The extra fried chicken wing I order was fresh fried, juicy and crispy--best item on the menu. The potato salad tasted store bought and the corn muffin from a mix. Overall I recommend for its history, but you can get better Southern food elsewhere in Memphis.
