I am still waiting to get a full refund, that is how bad our visit went. I've emailed a few times without a response. We had quite a few problems during our game play, and it was bad enough that the staff offered us a free game but we had to catch our flight. We've played many escape games all over and have never been so dissatisfied by one. The biggest issue was the hint system. The intercom wasn't working so after waiting forever for the first hint we were given a walkie talkie which worked until it staring blaring loudly and saying it's running out of batteries. I tried to tell the game master this but we never got an answer and it died. I hit the hint button again. We never got any more hints and had no way to communicate this! Anyway, I felt like we wasted so much time waiting for hints that the game was not fun. And then in the end they were running behind (bc the room wasn't reset so they had to begin our game late) so we didn't even get to hear what the rest of the solutions were! It was so incredibly unsatisfying that I wish we had gone to a different escape game but we wanted to try out a new company. read more

Did an escape room for my daughters birthday. HORRIBLE, thank god i drank before coming here cause fists woulda been flying. Our game master (more like beginner kitten wrangler) couldn't give us the right clues ruining our whole game. 10 minutes on the same clue that we already finished but was told we had to complete it. New guy had to come in over the intercom with a pirate accent, it wasn't even a pirate escape room so what the fuck? Took all the children out of the immersion, thankfully im still imaginative. The room itself was broken af, things in the room were already broken or open and told don't touch until we tell you too (they never told us wasting another 10 minutes). My second time at Fox In A Box and had a really poor experience. My group (4) and I played Final Confinement. Started off pretty rough, the room was not reset/ready so we had to leave the room after getting situated and restart (we were about 10 mins late after our start time so on the positive side they did give us the full time to play). While playing, our game master was a bit rude, I asked for time remaining several times but was never answered. There were multiple number combination padlocks throughout the room that weren't meant to be unlocked that weren't marked as do not touch and we weren't told that they weren't part of the game in the beginning/intro so our group keep getting yelled at for touching them. It's a number lock in an escape room - it's not fair to assume we wouldn't think it was part of the game. I had told our game master several times before and during the game that we didn't want any clues or hints unless we asked for them, but we keep getting unasked help, for example, getting told not to touch a puzzle until we figured xyz or finished xyz - which took away from solving the puzzles and clues ourselves - half of our group are escape room enthusiasts so we would have figured it out ourselves. Or we would solve something and just needed to "submit it" and would immediately get a hint for the answer before we even tried our solution. We finished the escape room with time to spare but I would have rather not finish and actually solve the puzzles ourselves instead. I think because our game started later than the original start time due to the room not being ready and us being 10 minutes late after our start time, they wanted us to finish quickly so the next reservation can start on time. Whatever the reason, felt like a waste of money since we didn't get to solve the puzzles ourselves, what's the point of playing a game if you get all the answers. Update: After posting my initial review, the manager apologized and explained the situation. I really appreciated the transparency and effort to make things right. It was clear they take customer feedback seriously, and I want to give credit where it's due - it was great customer service. read more

OMG! Mind absolutely blown!! My first ever Escape Room, did the Tesla room. Sophi is absolutely AMAZING! Coming back!

Me and my friends have done multiple escape rooms (some of us have done over 40 of them) and honestly I wouldn't recommend the other side. That room has a very very low escape rate and it's not really the players fault. If you go with a large group there is a portion of the game that sets you up for failure and costs your team almost a minute per player if not more (and it's not even a puzzle that aids in your escape) and we went with SIX. During this portion you can't move forward until every member completes it which is peculiar for this portion of an escape room...normally it's only one person in other escape rooms. I still give it a 2 star despite that because I still really enjoyed many of the puzzles and there were some types I haven't exactly seen before. That particular part of the escape room just needs to be refined. read more

I am so grateful this place exists! I've been to over 10 different escape rooms all over the country, and this was by far one of my favorite! I grew up playing those online escape room games, and this place brings me that thrill and challenge that keeps me wanting more. Fox in a Box isn't just a room of puzzles but it's a whole experience! I also appreciate how professional and attentive the workers are. I've been to other escape rooms where I literally have to leave the room to get the worker's attention to ask for my next clue since they weren't paying attention, but I never had an issue here. We have done a lot of rooms in the past. This one was in the middle of the road. Speakers in rooms were really bad which made it frustrating when trying to hear what the game master was saying. We did both "Nuclear Bunker" and "The Other Side." Cannot say I was impressed with nuclear bunker but the room was pretty cool. Some of the linear flow didn't make a lot of sense but the puzzles themselves were not that bad. The Other Side was a pretty good room, all of the puzzles made sense but the transition to other rooms and a few simple, yet important steps were not achievable without the Game Master interjecting. All in all, middle of the road amongst the many rooms I have done. I would come back to do the other rooms. read more

Isabella was awesome, loved how she gave us the story before entering the room and took our pictures for us at the end. We've been loyal customers at Fox in a Box for years and have played through every single one of their rooms. For the most part, the experiences have been excellent, which is why we were so disappointed with the Tesla room. We actually came on a DM training day, and while Ann (our DM) was patient and kind, she clearly wasn't actively following our progress. Several of the hints she gave us were for puzzles we had already completed, which only added to the frustration. The main issue is the lack of feedback. You can solve something correctly and have no idea anything happened. There's no sound, no light, no signal pointing you to the next step, so you spend a lot of time wandering around aimlessly. To make things worse, there are multiple props in the room that aren't marked as untouchable, so we wasted a good 15 minutes trying to interact with objects (like a phone) before finally being told we weren't supposed to. The room is advertised as "non-linear," but in reality, there's very little you can work on at the same time. Aside from gathering clues early, most of the puzzles can only be solved one after another, which made the experience drag. Honestly, we considered walking out more than once, which has never happened in any of their other well-designed, fun rooms. Another frustration was how the phone policy was handled. My friend had explained that they were waiting for urgent updates about a medical emergency after a car accident. Even with that, their phone was still locked away in a metal bin, and staff promised they would answer if it rang. We offered an alternative, in which they kept the phone on hand, and they still denied that accommodation. Unfortunately, when the game ended, my friend discovered five missed calls that hadn't been picked up. They had even asked if the phone could be kept somewhere more accessible so staff could hear it, but were told the bin wouldn't block the sound. Clearly, it did. Overall, I'd recommend skipping Tesla. We've loved every other room here, but this one was frustrating, confusing, and handled poorly in terms of both gameplay and accommodations. read more

Do not do the Tesla room! There is little to no indication when you get a puzzle correct--no noise to indicate something has opened or clue to go to another furniture piece. Many pieces in the room do not state you can't touch them so you'll spend time aimlessly working on trying to put the code into the phone before the game master tells you you aren't supposed to be touching it 15 min later. The room states the puzzle is nonlinear but there is very little you can solve simultaneously other than finding clues ahead of time. The DM, Ann was very patient with us but I considered quitting many times just because there was little sense to be found in the puzzle. Disappointing considering the other rooms here are very well designed and fun to do. Also, they wouldn't let me bring my phone inside even though we were waiting on notice regarding a medical emergency after a car accident. They promised to answer the phone if it rang while we were inside, yet locked it in a metal bin, even though I expressed multiple times I would be more comfortable if they kept it somewhere outside where they could hear it. They claimed they could hear it in the bin. When I came out I had 5 missed calls, none of which were answered (the ringer was on, volume as high as it would go). read more

10/10 experience. I chose the Prison Break room with my group of (4). I honestly could not complain I seriously think it was fun and worth our time. My suggestion to others is do not be late!! show up maybe 10 minutes early. my group and i got there 20 minutes late and they do not compensate you for the time lost meaning we only had 0 minutes once we got there, and on top of that we still had to do waivers and get the run down of the game from our guide. As far as the room you will definitely need critical thinking! The staff was nice and helpful throughout the entire process. As far as the area, It is not the greatest area in the world. My friend unfortunately chose the Zodiac Killer scenario for us (due to her fascination with all things macabre) - which was the most difficult of the escape room games available, with an absurdly low success rate. We've all visualized in our minds being in the position of that famous secret agent. The suspense, the action, the danger, and the women. (Ladies, you can always be the Bond girl). But being honest, how many times have you sat at a bar and ordered a dirty martini, just to utter those famous words, "shaken, not stirred", or stood in front of the mirror pretending to hold a gun in your hand while while smirking to yourself, "the name is Bond. James Bond." - Many times I bet. That sense of suave, cool and calm under pressure, mixed with heroism, and the ability to always get the girl, is what we all aspire to be able to do. Yet, few of us can ever experience that, specially the danger and suspense part. That's where Room Escape Miami by Fox in a Box stepped in and what an amazing experience it was. I was invited by a friend. Someone in her group wasn't able to go, so she gave me the extra ticket. - winning! - When we showed up, we all had varying expectations. No one had done a escape room before. - Not knowing what to expect, we decided to trust our gorgeous instructor (Bond Girl), who happened to also have a British accent, and whom I later nicknamed Siri for reasons which will eventually be obvious! - she guided us through the rules and regulations - "never press the red button" - sort of stuff, and off we were down a labyrinthine corridor with many rooms each with a name scarier than the other - Zombie Apocalypse, Prison Break, etc. We were doing the Nuclear Bunker. We were all gathered again before what looked to be bank vault doors. We were told the steps we had to take to save the world, and shown a video through we we were baptized as the new generation of double Os. All this took place before they did the single scariest thing they could have done - take away our cell phones. (Pictures are not allowed, nor is computerized help) Our own personal Siri ushered us through the bunker doors and off we were into a world where everything could be a clue and where a timer reminded us minute by minute, second by second, that the fate of the world hung in the balance over our shoulders. Luckily for us we were not alone in the journey, Siri guided us with clues as if our own MoneyPenny, as we entered blindly into the adventure. Even though this helps you get the bearings of the game, you can only get a clue every certain amount of time. I'm trying not to reveal anything, as for you to get the best experience possible. Suffice to say that your wits will be tested. Good memory, coordination, knowledge of cartography, and even basic math are a great plus when in the maze. But trust me, even basic arithmetic goes out the window when under the ticking clock. If you want to feel like James Bond, this is your place. This place was so fun! The staff def helps set the scene and keep you excited as you go into the room. We did the zombie apocalypse and it was def extremely hard but actually very realistic. I was honestly very creeped out the whole time we were in there. We did get very close to solving the room but we did need clues. It was a work event that we were there for and other teams we're able to get out of the easier rooms. I do not recommend you start with such a hard level. read more

Avid, escape room enthusiast here. My partner and I have done well over 60 escape rooms in states ranging from California to here at fox in a box. With that being said, being one of the higher rated escape rooms of southern Florida - We were very disappointed in this escape room. We did the Zodiac Killer room. Which the concept was intriguing considering it was based on a true story. But the electronics of the room did not work by the players, so they had to be triggered by an attentive game master. Needless to say, our 18-19 year old game masters were not attentive. We wasted quite a bit of time attempting the puzzles only to have to buzz in and then the puzzles get triggered. Very frustrating. We have no issues working with faulty electronics, but the game masters need to be on their toes if this is circumstance. The puzzles weren't difficult, but the in brief needs to be more thorough because it's one of the few escape rooms where you have to take apart stuff that would normally break other props. Additionally, just for situational awareness, this escape room is located in a very run down area with a lot of homeless people locating in the area to sleep for the evening. Overall, would not recommend this escape room. read more

While brainstorming things to do on a lazy Sunday with friends, an escape room came to mind. It's been awhile since I've done one around town, but Room Escape Miami by Fox in a Box came to mind first. We were able to call and book the Bank Robbery room to play a couple of hours later. For three of us, it cost about $118. They rank the rooms on a difficulty scale of 1-10 (all are either 8, 9 or 10). Before going in, you can pick whether you want to "play by the book" and get a max of one clue every 10 minutes or get unlimited clues throughout. The bank robbery room was ranked a 10 and we decided to play by the book. It was a fun non-linear room, so you solve a few different things at a time and may need to go back to previous rooms or puzzles to advance. All in all, it was really fun and clever! We were so close to finishing at the end, so our clue giver gave us a few extra minutes to complete it which was much appreciated. I've also been to Fox in a Box for a Yelp event and did the Nuclear Bunker. Overall, I think this biz excels at design and thought. Would definitely come back to try out the rest of the rooms! read more

This was my second time at Fox in a Box. My first was experiencing the Prison Escape room and I loved it. I went with my parents and son and although we didn't escape we immediately knew who was the teams crutch, the BOYS! We split into teams of two into two separate cells ...and the poor guys would've been spending Life together if it weren't for our guide. With that said we had a great time. Prison Break was fantastic set in a real life prison cell. There's nothing cheesy about the set up and all the clues although some hard all made sense. Most recently I took my son and his friends for his 18 bday and they absolutely loved the nuclear bunker. They made it out by the skin of their teeth! This is a great activity to do on a date, family night out, group of friends or an excellent team building. It's a must try. You won't regret it. Absolutely worth every penny. Can't wait to go back and try the other rooms! Totally looking forward to the Zodiac! read more
