This was my second time at Fox in a Box. My first was experiencing the Prison Escape room and I loved it. I went with my parents and son and although we didn't escape we immediately knew who was the teams crutch, the BOYS! We split into teams of two into two separate cells ...and the poor guys would've been spending Life together if it weren't for our guide. With that said we had a great time. Prison Break was fantastic set in a real life prison cell. There's nothing cheesy about the set up and all the clues although some hard all made sense. Most recently I took my son and his friends for his 18 bday and they absolutely loved the nuclear bunker. They made it out by the skin of their teeth! This is a great activity to do on a date, family night out, group of friends or an excellent team building. It's a must try. You won't regret it. Absolutely worth every penny. There is no doubt in my mind that this is probably the best Miami has to offer in terms of escape rooms. Having done over 50 rooms by now, however, I try to hold all escape rooms to the same standards whether they come from more competitive escape room markets (like Orlando) or less saturated markets (like Indianapolis). As I have stated in other escape room reviews, most reviewers on these pages are writing a review for their very first escape room ever--and typically everyone loves their first escape experience, no matter what. For this reason, most escape businesses boast 4-5 star ratings despite the fact that not all are created equal. It also probably helps in Fox in a Box's case that at least one of their employees is insisting that customers "leave us a 5 star review" as they leave. Whenever I leave any business being told how to review them, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth. On to the business itself... It was obvious to my girlfriend and me that they don't get a lot of escape enthusiasts because before both rooms that we did, we were given the full long spiel about how everything works. I appreciate that this is their job and they have a set spiel, but I'd be lying if I said my eyes didn't glaze over a little. One kind of weird thing that I've never seen at an escape business before was that they make you leave your phone in an unlocked compartment outside of the room. Most places I've visited let you leave it in a box in the room, or else they let you put it in a locker that you keep the key to. Ashley, our game supervisor for Nuclear Bunker, was an absolute star! We really liked her clue-giving style--gentle nudges in the right direction, and only chiming in when we really needed it. She also was clearly paying careful attention to us throughout our game, always knowing exactly where we were and what we needed from her. If this review was for Ashley alone, it would be 5 stars! I would probably rate the game itself around 4 stars. It had decent scenic, with some really cool details and touches. It's their easiest game, with a high escape rate and linear puzzles, but all the puzzles were fun and made sense. We came back to play Bank Robbery, and were a bit less impressed. Our game supervisor for this game seemed a bit scatterbrained and I had a feeling he wasn't always paying attention to us, as he didn't always seem to know where we were at, giving us clues about things we already knew OR giving us way too much information. Where Ashley would give us a gentle push, this supervisor would just explain what we needed to do, and then once we started to do it, would continue to explain in detail what we should do even though were already working on it. Part of the fun is to figure things out, and really all we wanted was a push at most. The Bank Robbery room itself also didn't impress us as much as Nuclear Bunker. The puzzles were somewhat non-linear, but they weren't any harder than the puzzles in Bunker, there just might have been more of them. Some of the puzzles (like the first two doors) were ridiculously easy for a room that's supposed to be so hard. And then, on the other hand, there were puzzles that were just... off. In a variety of ways. One puzzle relating to color had something that was bright orange, the number on which was supposed to go to something of a corresponding color... only the corresponding thing was literally a pale, pastel yellow. Huh? Without giving too much away, there was another puzzle where something had to be put in a very specific spot to trigger a maglock, but there wasn't any indicator of where exactly to place the item. Finally, there was a really cool thing that we were really excited to work on together and then... we couldn't... because the battery on the thing was dead. We talked about the battery being dead for about a minute, got the attention told our game supervisor because he wasn't listening to our conversation... he seemed not to believe us, asked us a bunch of questions about it, and then gave us an alternative puzzle slipped under the door... All of this without stopping the timer so we wasted a good bit of time on that. There also was a pen provided, but no paper (in Nuclear Bunker there were both, so I think the resetter just forgot to replace the paper), which would've been helpful... I wound up writing a code on my hand because we didn't need it yet but had to remember it for later. In the end we escaped, and it was overall a decent room, but we just weren't particularly impressed by it in any way. I could tell the game supervisor expected more of an excited reaction when we won the game and was trying to draw it out of us but it just wasn't going to happen because it wasn't an amazing experience from any angle. If you're looking for an escape experience in Miami, I'm sure this is one of the better if not the best one. For seasoned escape artists, don't expect to be blown away, but you can still have fun with these rooms while in town! read more

The company I work for decided to do this as a team building activity. At first, it didn't sound too appealing to me - being locked up somewhere and having to figure out how to get out? No, thanks. But I was positively surprised how entertaining and fun this ended up being. We were divided in different groups. I was assigned to the zombie room. They give everyone the matching attire for their room. While I was scared the whole time that something could jump at me, it was so fascinating and interesting how to solve all the different tasks. I think we made it in the last couple of minutes (if not the last minute). They have young team members who kept it fun and entertaining. I totally want to go back now and try out the other rooms. I can highly recommend this Escape Room. It is in the heart of Downtown Miami so street parking can be difficult to find and expensive! I remember they validated some of the parking at the garage next door but not sure if they always do that. read more

TERRIBLE customer service or venue policy. I've been to over 25 escape rooms and over a dozen different venues. Never have I seen a venue that 1. Stops you from completing the room when your time is up, 2. Gives you less time if you're a few minutes late (even when they had no other guests after our time). The room itself was pretty good but I cannot give more than 1 stars to a venue that takes the fun out of an escape room. Message to the owner or manager, I did not pay $50 per person for a time slot, I paid for the experience. I felt robbed of this experience. A one hour drive in rain and thunder can cause delays and as an owner you should be respectful of this. I was 2 clues from finishing the room and I am told to stop after 50 minutes. That was the worst experience I've had in an escape room, congratulations. Avoid this venue until they change their staff or change their venue policies. read more

So this is the third escape room experience that I've done, and I have to say it was great. Everyone was super nice and I really enjoyed the overall experience. We did the Prison Break room and it was a blast. I think it was a tad bit too easy, but it was still a blast. I liked that it was a little more physical than some other ones, and how it splits you initially into two teams and how you have to work together to get out. Can wait to try the Bank Robbery or Zodiac murders room. Supposedly those are the hardest ones. read more

We finally decided to try this escape room adventure and it was awesome!! Too bad they have just 4 !!! A new one is coming soon and we have two left to do. So we went to celebrate a friends birthday and had planned to do just the prison break... it was so much fun and Monica our game admin was amazing she made sure with stuck to our choice of going by the book and provided just enough hint when requested ! At the end we managed to escape with just under 8 minutes left ! We had so much fun that we decided to go ahead and rob the bank after our prison break haha for this one we had the help of Juan . Again we decided to go by the book which means that they will not guide you through but instead provide hints when requested. This one was much more challenging and requires more thinking but we did it with again under 8 minutes left!!! We will be back very soon to do the next two rooms and the new one when it opens ! read more

We had a group of over 20 people split into various rooms/themes. The guides were nice but some of the rooms had issues with working technology for clue revealing. Stay away from the nuclear bunker experience, the guide told us to do something a couple of times but the artifact was not working. read more

UPDATE: I just finished doing their NEW zodiac killer room! I didn't think it was possible for them to outdo themselves, but they have! With the storyline being thrilling, because well, it's true life.... the decor beats all the other rooms. I don't want to give anything away, but at some point my reaction was "oh, heck no!" You can make your own initial assumptions from the paper bags on our heads and handcuffs as we were lead into the room... but it's worth finding out for yourself! The puzzles definitely involve just as much, if not more thought than the other rooms. We successfully made it out, with a few minutes to spare! Original post: I've done other escapee rooms in Miami and none other compares to Fox in a Box! At this point I can honestly say I've successfully completed ALL of their rooms! Each room is perfectly decorated to fit the theme. The prison break room has legitimate jail cells that were once used in an actual prison! SO COOL! Not to mention that with each room comes some sort of dress up to make you feel more in character... sounds childish, but believe me... sometimes you just need to fit that bank robber mold! My favorites are a tie between the zombie lab and prison. The zombie one has been the most stressful and exhilarating one. The creepy music keeps you on your toes, and the puzzles keep you guessing - it's unlike an of the other rooms. The prison break one is just such a cool concept, who hasn't ever thought of doing something like this... The staff at Fox is the box is so warm and welcoming! Especially Jo! If you have any questions, she's always more than happy to help... just give her a call! They have so much fun along with you and your team... they genuinely want to see you succeed and get excited right alongside you. Parking is too easy, considering it's downtown. I was trying to surprise my girlfriend for a birthday date and was surprised to see that this Escape Room charged $70/person. I thought to myself, that's quite expensive. So I had written a review about how expensive it was and the manager responded saying they NEVER charge $75 a person. The picture attached clearly shows 2 people for $141, I guess it's not $75 but still close. They then had written to me and discussed why it was that expensive. Mind you I'm a paying customer. I had already bought the experience even though it was expensive. However, they did not care if I paid or not. They just kept saying bring more people and it's cheaper per person. Okay, so bring you more money makes it cheaper, I guess that makes sense. I asked if a refund was possible, they said no all sales are final. So I ask if I can add two more people and to charge my card. They respond saying you booked the room and it fits 7 people, when I get there I can pay for the rest. I said ok. And was just waiting till the day of the experience. Couple days go by and all of a sudden I get an email saying I'm being denied service for my malicious intent. All I did was point out how expensive it was (picture attached from website). So I asked for a refund and they say they can't and DEMANDED to have my address to send me a check. There's a couple things wrong with this: 1. Were in the 21st century, we've figured out how to refund people's credit cards. It even says in the fine print it can't be refunded unless Fox in the Box cancels the game. (which they did) So that's balone. 2. Asking for my address to send a check? That sounds fishy. Almost like they want to avoid the refund in the system to not look bad. I did not want to provide my address to a business that has taken a paying customers money and has now refused the service. So they said too bad. If you want, there's a check here waiting for you or you can cancel through your bank. Doesn't seem like good customer service to me. I had asked why she was being so unprofessional and she just kept saying I was a liability. I'm a liability for writing a review based off there pricing. As funny and as ridiculous as this story may seem, it's true. I honestly couldn't believe the service received as a paying customer. I knew the prices were high but still took decided to pay it to surprise my girlfriend for her birthday. And instead of the manager thinking of changing my mind and providing a great experience to change my review down the road about price, I'm harassed and denied entry. That's the last time I ever spend a penny at this place. Now I have to dispute through my bank this ridiculous charge because they refuse to refund me the normal way. UPDATE: After pointing out in there own Terms that they CAN refund, their system was magically able to refund. (Picture attached) In fact, they pointed out the same line to me. (I'm guessing they didn't read it themselves). And they CONTINUE to lie by saying I threatened them in emails to probably get review taken down (that's low). I've only asked questions about my booking. I've taken my business elsewhere, not worth my time and money for a mediocre experience in an unprofessional business that's full of lies. Booking at a different business allowed me to save a ton of money and use that to buy drinks and dinner, on top of the game. All I can say is that the photo evidence speaks for itself. read more

I gathered a group of my family and friends to escape from the Zodiac room. That room just so happens to be the most difficult 10/10 with a success rate of 13%. We did not get out, but the room was a blast and our Game Master, Steven, made it just as fun. We had so much fun we even came back for another game last week and happened to have Steven again. The room this time was Abandoned Zombie Lab. We won with a second on the clock. This happened to be my niece's first escape room and wanted to thank Steven for making it a memorable experience for us. Overall, I would recommend Fox in a Box Miami. The facilities are clean, staff friendly and procedures to keep everyone safe during this pandemic put me at ease. We're coming back for a game this weekend. We escaped! Not once, but 3 times!!! This place is my favorite "Escape Room" in Miami. This place is clean, organized, well planned and ready to transport you into whatever theme you have chosen to escape. Friendly, up-spirited, funny staff. Special thanks to Nayib who was our host for all 3 rooms. The bunker really get's you in the mood to diffuse that bomb and the tasks inside really need a lot of team work and smart people. Happily to have had my family, we escaped with maybe the 4th or 5th best time. No hints! The Zombie room was probably the favorite. There a lot of things around the room but only if you are sharp to detail you'll be able to create the cure to save the world. Our team was able to move rapidly and most importantly, together. The prison prison break was quite the cel! Definitely awe had a cel of a time and were able to get out, but we did need some guidance since we were overthinking. If you're looking for something different to do that is a great team building exercise and challenge on friendship then this is a great place to go. I have already been here twice and have had an awesome experience both times. The first time I went I decided to do the nuclear bunker challenge because it was the easiest option they had. We were very successful and finished with 15 minutes to spare. So next time we decided why not go with the hardest one possible which was the zodiac killer. Needless to say we may have been a little too confident and failed. But we had fun trying! The staff is great and you can tell they enjoy their work. You must make a reservation before hand that way your spot is saved. Make sure you arrive on time because they are punctual. Being in this area of downtown be aware that if you go at night most stores will be closed except for this one. There is $5 flat rate in the parking lot down the street which is the best location I have found. read more

I had a great time doing the Bank Robbery. This is the first escape room I've ever done and it was an adrenaline pumping experience. There were seven of us in the room and we elected not to have any hints for the first 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, we ended up asking for 4 of the 6 clues. We got the diamonds, gold, and cash with 16 Seconds to spare!! Talk about the intensity and anxiety created by thinking your so close and not going to commit the robbery and then we DID. The staff was excellent. Our staff member (sorry I can't remember her name) was excellent and so excited for us that we committed the heist. She took some fun pictures of our team!! So Let's start out with the fact that I read some of these reviews before going to fox in a box. And to be honest I was a bit worried that I would have a horrible experience. My experience was not without issues but the owner was pleasant and rectified the situation. So the first time I went my friends and I did zombie apocalypse. We had some technical difficulties which through us off but We escaped ! Yay! In the bathroom I noted they had a discount for a second game. (FYI if you do want to get the promo code you must buy the game at the time you are done playing your first game. ) Lol. So then my friends and I were really excited to try their other games so we PAID to play zodiac. The day comes and we notice that the game master was taking a little long setting up the game for us. He comes out and says unfortunately there's an issue with zodiac and you won't be able to play. We were annoyed and kinda disappointed that we drove all the way to downtown to play this specific room and weren't going to get the chance to do so. So our game master gave us the option to play another game. We decided on bank robbery. We were close to getting out but it didn't happen. I think our disappointment got the best of us but whatever. Before we started the game I mentioned to the game master is there anyway we can get a discount to come play the game we actually paid for. He seemed very unsure and I for sure thought this was going to be a situation similar to other Yelp reviewers. He told me to call when an owner would be available but that seemed hopeless. So I sent an email explaining our situation and was given a free game for our troubles. I really appreciate the quickness in answering my emails and I did not experience any rudeness from their employees. I always have a good time when I come here. They make you sanitize and wear gloves for our safety and others. I would recommend this place if you're into escape rooms. Yesssss it's in downtown but what do you expect?!? For the first time being at escape room game It was pretty amazing time! We stated with Nuclear bunker room and than we got addicted so we stayed in a Bank Robbery Room and Prison brake. A day in Miami turns into phenomenal adventure! The rooms itself were fantastic, well staged so we had a feeling we are in actual movie set with loads of varied and fun puzzles to solve. It was so cleverly constructed and I'd say the level of difficulty was very well pitched. There are hints over the radio if you get stuck. We were doing this with just two people, though the suggested minimum is three, but being keen on this kind if thing we were determined to solve it and escape. I planned the Prison Break room for my husband and friends for his birthday and we LOVED it! It was a fun and awesome group experience for a birthday. There were 6 of and we did the Prison Break room. It looked and felt so real-not surprising considering they imported actual prison cells for this room. I was pleasantly surprised at how challenging the puzzles were. There were opportunities to ask for hints when you're stuck, but you must use the hints wisely because you only have a few opportunities to ask. We barely made it out with two minutes left on the clock. The prison cell is considered medium difficulty. Everyone in my group agreed that we will come back for the other rooms, especially the Zombie room which is high on the difficulty rating. If you're having drinks beforehand, I highly recommend not coming drunk because you won't be able to figure out the puzzles. When booking on the website you have to pay in advance. But you only need pay ahead of time for 3 people; if you have more in your party they can pay at the door (up to 6 people per room). It cost $33 a person for the afternoon and early evening time slots, but the price goes up to $45 per person for the 10:30p and 12:00a times. The owner/manager was so nice about helping us take photos and recording our victory exit when we successfully ran out of the room. I can't stressed enough how much fun this was. read more

For one, my dream as a little girl has always been to be a special agent. For years it's been an inside joke in my family and people always ask me if the CIA has called me yet. I love riddles and solving puzzles, if this is your cup of tea, I highly suggest you check this place out. My first impression with this place began at 11:15 am in the morning when I decided to call to ask some questions. Please note, this place opens at 11:30 am and I realized this after I called. Nevertheless someone picked up the phone. It was a very kind woman who at the end of our call identified herself as the manager. She helped us decide which room to start with as first timers, our group was 50/50 torn between prison break and bunker. I have to say we made a great choice by starting with bunker, it was amazing! We had a team of six and it was everyone's first time participating in an escape room. We were virgins and wanted to make our first experience count. Some people may be hesitant because to some $35-$40 per person may be steep, but this is worth every penny-believe me. Our first time popping the cherry was beyond incredible. The staff was very professional. We had Keenan as our game supervisor who was great! Keenan provided us with a great overview and had a good attitude. He gave us hints without revealing too much. Came here recently for the first time and had such an amazing time! This is the real deal. The 5-stars you see are duly deserved. We did the Nuclear Bunker with two of my co-workers and had a blast. The puzzles and game play are well thought out and it flows perfectly. The story line is fantastic! The props look real and you really feel you are trying to save the world for real! The puzzles are not random and lead to the other, helping maintain the story line going. Our host Ashley was great. Definitely will be back to do other rooms. read more

What an amazing time!!! Not too much can be said as this place is top secret there were 5 in our group. We were greeted when we arrived, every group is individually given the attention they deserved. The place is very clean, organized and absolutely addicting. We ended up doing two rooms (prison break and zodiac killer) and loved them both! We cannot wait to go back. It is challenging which is what I loved about it. It gets everyone involved. I cant see getting these completed unless the whole group comes together.
