This is the type of place where time slows down really calm and elegant. Loved the Mediterranean arquitecture with Italian influence. Voulted ceilings, dark wood and warm lighting. It has many ballrooms for events. I was there for a babyshower at the Danielsen Gallery perfect for smaller gatherings. The Courtyard and Fountain are beautiful. Everything feels historic and grand. The service was impeccable and extremely professional.

A little history…read more: The hotel was designed by Schultze and Weaver and built in 1926 by John McEntee Bowman and George Merrick as part of the Biltmore hotel chain. The hotel's tower is inspired by the Giralda, the medieval tower of the cathedral of Seville Spain. When completed in 1926, the Biltmore became the tallest building in Florida at 315 feet holding the record as Florida's tallest building until 1928 when the Dade County Courthouse was built. At one time, the pool was the largest pool in the world and employed swimming instructor (and later Tarzan actor) Johnny Weissmuller. It served as a hospital during World War II and as a Veterans Administration Hospital and campus of the University of Miami medical school until 1968. The hotel was then abandoned for many years before again restoring operations as a hotel in 1987. In 1986, Miami Biltmore Hotel was designated a National Historic Landmark. In 1925, land developer George E. Merrick joined forces with Bowman-Biltmore Hotels president John McEntee Bowman at the height of the Florida land boom to build "a great hotel...which would not only serve as a hostelry to the crowds which were thronging to Coral Gables but also would serve as a center of sports and fashion." In January 1926, after ten months of construction at a cost of $10 million, the hotel opened and visitors included the Duke and Duchess of Windsor, Ginger Rogers, Judy Garland, Bing Crosby, Al Capone, and assorted Roosevelts and Vanderbilts as frequent guests. Franklin D. Roosevelt had a temporary White House office set up at the Hotel when he vacationed in Miami. Several months after the hotel opened, on September 18, the 1926 Miami Hurricane struck. While the hotel was undamaged, providing shelter for over 2000 survivors, the disaster signaled the end of the Florida land boom. Merrick's Coral Gables company declared bankruptcy on April 13, 1929, and Merrick's stake in the hotel was bought out by his partner, John McEntee Bowman in November 1929 for $2.1 million.Bowman resold the hotel in September 1931 to millionaire Henry Latham Doherty. A large part of the hotel's revenue in the 1930s came from aquatic galas. As many as 3,000 people would come out to watch the synchronized swimmers, bathing beauties, and alligator wrestling. Johnny Weissmuller, before he was known for his role in Tarzan, broke a world record at the pool. With the onset of World War II, the War Department took over the hotel, converting it to a 1200-bed hospital in November 1942. The building was transferred to the Army in 1946 and renamed Pratt General Hospital.Many of the windows were sealed with concrete, and the marble floors covered with government-issue linoleum. The hospital was transferred from the Army to the Veterans Administration ,in July 1947. Also the early site of The University of Miami's School of Medicine, Pratt General Hospital remained a VA hospital, with 450 beds, until a newer facility opened nearby in May 1968 and the building was vacated. In 1973, through the Historic Monuments Act and Legacy of Parks program, the City of Coral Gables was granted ownership control. The building remained unoccupied for almost 10 years. Then in 1983, the City oversaw its full restoration to be opened as a grand hotel. It was reopened on December 31, 1987 as a luxury hotel and resort. In June 1992, a multinational consortium led by Seaway Hotels Corporation became the new operators of the hotel under a long term management lease with the City of Coral Gables, and again made extensive refurbishments to the property. New lighting and telephone systems, repairs to the pool, furnishings, a complete guestroom renovation program and spa were completed. In February 2009, the hotel opened the Biltmore Culinary Academy, a recreational hands-on cooking school with classes for adults and children taught by the hotel's chefs. On April 18, 2012, the AIA's Florida Chapter placed the building on its list of "Florida Architecture, 100 Years, 100 Places. The hotel has been used as a setting in various movies and television programs, including Bad Boys, The Specialist, Shock Waves, CSI: Miami, Popi, and Miami Vice. To begin, the team there is phenomenal. Javi, Ale, Alex, Kayla, Sherry, and the rest of the staff made sure that my husband and I had the most magical night of our lives. They treated me like I was family from the beginning of the planning process to the end, going above and beyond the call of duty to make sure we could relax and enjoy the evening. I felt like I was working with a highly trained Secret Service of sorts: -They used walkie talkies and ear pieces to communicate with each other throughout the night. -They anticipated our needs before we had them (making sure we ate first, bringing us drinks, holding my dress, escorting me, etc.). -They changed light bulbs, mopped up spills as they happened, ran to get cups when my caterer ran out, etc. This team made sure the event ran smoothly and resolved problems that weren't even their fault quickly! At the end of the night, Javi personally delivered some leftovers from the venue to our APARTMENT which was not expected but much appreciated. The venue itself is also gorgeous. It stands out from its peers through its Mission Revival architecture, and it boasts many different rooms, cool furniture, and breathtaking ceremony sites throughout the property. There isn't a lot you have to do in terms of decor/rentals/florals because it's just that beautiful. But you have to see it for yourself to appreciate the beauty. The photos I'm attaching (some professional, some from phone cameras) don't even begin to do it justice. Finally, this is one of the only outdoor venues (if not THE only venue) in Miami that allows you to keep the party going until 1am. My husband and I really wanted to have a long wedding and dance the night away, and this venue had no issue with that. They allow you to pay for extra hours and move you into a spacious indoor room at 11pm to get around the noise ordinance. It was exactly what we wanted. I would recommend this venue to anyone getting married. I have only positive things to say about the Curtiss Mansion and its amazing staff who make people happy for a living.

Well, this was a nice experience…read more I went for the Hispanic Heritage Concert Celebration which was a very enjoyable show, but beyond that, the actual Auditorium experience was a very good one too. For starters, unlike many places in Miami, there is a parking, with more than enough parking spaces, even when some of the patrons love to park right in the middle of two spots, just because, and no one tows them, but I digress: you can find a spot in spite of that. Once in the building, it is actually very well organized and the staff is very helpful and friendly. The show did not really start "on the dot", but this being Miami, I think 8 or 9 minutes is not so much of a delay :p The acoustics are fine, though there were a couple of instances where, I don't know if it was an issue with the musicians, or with the sound system, but in that couple of moments, the sound was just a bit awful... but generally speaking, most of the show sounded well. The intermission was also very well organized, and I'm always a bit surprised when people go back to their seats without delaying the show too much :) It's a very enjoyable venue for a very enjoyable time.

The studio is spacious and well decorated for the spectacular activity. The once ice manufacturing plant was turned into a huge event space or venue that can accomodate 8,000 guests. They can host private events, concerts, trade shows, art shows and a lot more. The Sports Illustrated on Location Swimsuit Event was attended by Supermodels like Paulina Porizkova, Tyra Banks, Barbara Palvin, Anna de Paula, Hailey Clauson, Kate Bock, Lais Ribeiro, Samantha Hoopes, and a lot more like MMA fighter Paige Vanzant It was a fun event hosted by the Ice Palace Films Studios. I hope to attend more events in the future in this beautiful venue. Last year I went to see "Beyond Van Gogh," and this past Friday, my friends and I went to see "Beyond Monet." It happened to be opening night and they conducted themselves splendidly. We went to the 7:30 PM showing in the middle of a downpour. We were afraid we'd make it late, but we arrived just on time. We ended up doing valet this time around as it was more convenient. Valet was $20, and heads' up, the entrance is the first one, not the second. We had an oops, but even then, the man who was the valet was nothing but kind to us with our mistake. For "Beyond Monet," the show was on the opposite side as it was for "Beyond Van Gogh." It seems that aside from "Beyond Monet," they're also playing a second show called "The Art of Banksy." Pretty cool that they have two shows running at once. Anyway, they're STILL following proper protocol for COVID-19, and they've made the ticketing process even easier than before. Last time it was two individual tickets for my Apple wallet, and this time it was three individual tickets on one QR code for my Apple wallet. Given that this is downtown, well, this almost merits a five-star review from me. Keyword here being almost. If they somehow lowered the valet parking rate, well, that would just about do it.

When a nearby table opened up, we asked if our friends could be moved next to us. Our server was kind, said it should be possible, and went to speak with the manager. We had also spoken with the hostess, who seemed overwhelmed by the number of walk-ins. About 12 minutes later, instead of seating our friends at the available table, the restaurant seated a party of 2 there. Since our friends were only 4 people, they easily could have been accommodated at that table. What made the experience worse was the manager, JP. He came to our table claiming the table was reserved, but that didn't seem accurate--we spoke with the couple who had just been seated there, and they told us they were walk-ins. We understand that restaurants have policies and reservations to manage, but JP's attitude and lack of customer service were disappointing. There was no effort to find a solution or show any empathy. The restaurant wasn't even full, and many guests were heading to the mini golf course, so the situation felt unnecessarily inflexible. Puttshack has a fun concept, but customer service is just as important as the experience. We hope upper management reviews how situations like this are handled, because JP's approach did not reflect the level of hospitality customers expect.

Tequila Town is an immersive experience that blends art, architecture, music, ritual, and storytelling by transporting guests back to the original story of tequila in Mexico mixed with the pulsating creative energy of Miami. As you enter, you will receive a welcome glass of tequila to begin your experience. You also receive a passport that needs to be stamped in each room. There are 10 rooms there. When you buy your tickets, you will choose how many rooms you want to experience! You will enter a train in the beginning and a conductor will take you on a 3 minute "ride" thru Jalisco, Mexico explaining where tequila was originally made. Note: it was very warm in the train. Then you go to another room where another storyteller will explain more and so on. In each room, you will get to taste tequila. Each room has a different experience. Towards the end, there is a gentleman who will play his guitar and sing songs. The decorations thruout will give you many photo ops! At the end of the tour, you will enter the Gift shop where there is air conditioning and lots of tequila to buy as well as gifts. Ask about the 20% off when you buy your ticket. It was fun, interesting, and lively! All the tour guys were knowledgeable and friendly! You will get your money's worth for sure. Lots of photo ops and fun with friends.

Caveat for tequila nerds. - This is an entertainment experience. And I think it's meant to highlight the diversity of tequila, especially for the non-initiated. This is not a tasting. Nor is it targeted to long time tequila connoisseurs. This is entry-level & fun. But it's also a marketing exercise for the Proximo Spirits brands. There is no discussion of detailed topics tequila connoisseurs focus on: -NOMs, -terroir, -additive free versus additive, -how commercial farming practices jeopardize sustainability, -the issues with celebrity brands, -farmer and worker rights, -independent distilleries, -how modern and / or industrial tequila production differs from traditional or artisanal production, -the difference from other agave spirits, -the regional differences, -the complicated history of tequila marketing in the United States. But, that's not bad. And honestly, if that were the focus of this experience, I'm sure it would detract from the experience & also from a wider appeal. The experience does a great job in showing the diversity in tequila as a spirit. And does a lot to elevate tequila and separate it from the non-sophisticated (but still existent) reputation as a party liquor. It's also an homage to Mexico's cultural traditions & intangible contributions. In a time where the public focus on Mexico isn't always favorable, this served as a welcome experience!
