Then in early 2020 I went for my semi-annual cleaning and checkup. I was surprised when he rasied a cleaning by $20, but as a senior citizen on a fixed income he added a $20.00 room cleaning fee in addition. That was over a 33% increase and without any advance notice at all. That goes beyond distasteful to immoral and unethical. I sent a letter and received no response, so I found another dentist who is much more senior friendly. It did occur that this may be a way to eliminate seniors on fixed incomes but it a very distasteful thing to do.

Putting that bias aside, Dr. Kwon is an extremely thorough dentist. You can tell right off the bat he knows what he's doing and you can bet he has had tons of experience doing it. His teeth cleanings are as painless as it can get and he has very good hands. I don't deal very well with pain so if I say a teeth cleaning is bearable... That's saying something. Now onto the good stuff...he's well trained in crowns too, has to get some a couple years ago. Totally painless (because I got numbed) and the crowns were done very nicely. When I was in high school I had to get gum surgery and his recommended periodontist was excellent, couldn't feel a thing and the job was successful! TLDR? Very skilled dentist that understands patient's pain tolerance. Has decades of experience.

The Dr. told me I had two cavities that needed to be filled. I said I just started a new job and that I didn't think my insurance covered it yet. He said he would have his staff contact my insurance for me and check, so I agreed. They came back and said they spoke with my insurance company and that they said it would be covered, so I agreed to have them filled at that time. I had two that needed done. I did one that day and scheduled an appointment for the next week to come back and have the other filled. I went back the next week to get the other one filled and left. The VERY NEXT DAY, I got a call from their office saying that the insurance company wouldn't cover the costs of the fillings and that I owed them $2,000 for the services performed. I of course didn't budget to pay for $2k worth of work done on my teeth so I had to work out a payment plan over the next month to pay for it. Especially since I just started a new job!!! Needless to say, they never actually called the insurance company and figured if I couldn't pay it they would just bill me. I think this is an AWFUL way to do business and exactly how people are put into debt!! I thought I should warn anyone considering going here to make sure to only get services performed on them that they KNOW are covered, and not let them "call" your insurance to check, because they won't! The actual work they did wasn't bad work, but since I had to pay $2k out of pocket for something that would have been free if I wasn't lied to and waited the 4 months until my insurance would cover it, well....sucks!! I will never go back and I guarantee if I pulled a stunt like this with my clients they wouldn't come back either!!

They are very efficient from front desk staff all the way thru. The staff have all been friendly and highly professional. You can feel how well the staff all work together. I feel the practice is up to date and following high standards of practice. They answer questions completely.
