My elderly mother called Fox to investigate a potential shower leak at her home in Kamloops. They didn't fix that but found $5,000 worth of other work. No written paper estimate provide or pre-approved, exorbitant prices, no individual line item prices, bogus service plan tacked on. pressure tactics, took advantage of an elderly woman. They eventually refunded the service plan but no relief on the other unauthorized, unnecessary and overcharged work. Beware of this company and their tactics. read more

I was overcharged by $1000. I forwarded estimates from two other local companies that would have completed the work for more than $1000 less. Here is the Fox and Sons reply... "All our flat rate fees are calculated at 50% for materials and labour, 35% for company overhead, and 15% profit. We had Fox and Sons come do a few jobs at our home and found them expensive but we always paid our estimated bill before they left. When we got a quote on the last job we agreed on it however the technician completed the job he said it would be less than the first estimate as it wasn't as big a job as he thought, so he wrote up a new reduced bill and we paid it before he left. Many months later we received a call from the F&S office that we owed money for the first bill. We explained that we had paid the second bill as it wasn't as big a job as they expected so he had reduced it but they insisted we had to pay both bills as the Tech said we hadn't paid the first bill. After many calls we finally paid the bill as they were harassing us and it wasn't worth the headache. Do not hire this company as they are dishonest and overcharge. read more

I am dealing with a similar ordeal with FOX AND SONS fraudulent practises. I received a first quote to cut out my water regulator at the outback resort Townhouse and replace it with a water pipe . The technician later realized it could be the Water pressure Value instead He wrote up a second quote to install a water pressure Value. Called and they were here to attend to my frozen pipes in an hour. The man was very polite and did not charge me for coming out since I had got the water flowing again. When he was here he did not try to hustle me into other service nor was there any pressure to buy a product. They now have me as a customer! read more

Furnace broke down and had a Fox technician in to fix it. Halfway through, he told me it needed replacing, and he didn't want to work on it, citing safety reasons. Talked me into a replacement unit which turned out to be as noisy as it was pricey. Charged me $6,800, suggesting there was a credit for low income individuals. When I looked into what a furnace should cost (after installation) Home Depot's website suggests priced should range from $2,900 - $6,400 complete, averaging $3,900. My house is tiny, and the tech installing it had never installed one that didn't even have an automatic pilot restart (must be done manually - new units usually have the auto-restart). So, I got a lowest end unit at above the upper end price, more than double what it should have cost. Furnace room is by my bedroom, and new unit is loud enough to wake me up. There's a grinding and squeaking noise as it gets up to speed. When I asked installer about the noise, he said it was in H/D mode, and would only kick in on the coldest of nights (mentioned -30C). It kicks in every day. Not happy with the furnace provided, and not happy with the cost. I sent them a note spelling out these same details, got an e-mail back saying they'd address it the following week. Never happened. Didn't care that I lived on a pension. I needed heat. How many of us would have called around for other quotes while the technician waited? Do NOT call Fox and Sons! read more

I will never deal with this company again ! Called a few times to ask for a manager , after paying a few grand for work done and never had a call back ! Left two messages with the girl at the front desk ! had a complaint about their finance manager who never called me back on my financing , I called them after 5 days of no heat in my place and she said I wasn't approved, which I had told the girl at the front desk to tell her that I had financing , when I talked to the finance manager she apologized and the work was done soon after !! My complaint is , they just ignored me when I called repeatedly when I've used them numerous times in the past and have paid a lot of money to them. read more

Called to get my hot water tank replaced and they tried to charge me more than double what other companies quoted me. The guy who came out and did the quote was a big talker and not trustworthy. One of the worst/frustrating experiences I've had. Called initially because 2 thermostats were not calling for heat. To make a long story short, I had three appointments booked that were cancelled and rescheduled. After one appointment i was left with 5 leaks in my boiler system. By the time everything was said and done I'd spent $1200, got some new parts and my boiler works exactly the same. My thermostats still do not call for heat, initial problem not solved. On the positive side, the boiler set up does look cleaner now, my technician was very nice, and my boiler room floor looks great after I cleaned up all the water left by the leaks. Once a year I use a plumber to snake our drain (one kitchen drain) Yesterday fox and sons didn't show up said it was a safety reason the guy had to go home. And today they came,I know exactly what needs to be done kitchen drain needs to be snaked as it has 2 kitchens & laundry that ties into it... anyways they quoted me 355.00 not including tax to snake my drain! I said it was OUTRAGEOUS and last time I paid 160 from a different company who this time around is too busy to get into this month... I ended up having to pay 90.00 for them to come tell me it was going to be 355.00 dollars and waste my entire day yesterday waiting around and then again all morning!! What a joke of a company! Although the work may have been completed correctly, the on-scene quote provided, and the go ahead given by my wife(who needed two customer supplied taps re-installed to the water supply, with no granite drilling involved; after a new counter installation) while I was out of town; it turns out that the quote/set-rate bill was OUTRAGEOUS in comparison to reliable competitors' estimates ascertained later. Had Fox and Sons come and repair furnace as we had no heat when we returned from holidays. Got furnace up and running we now had heat, 6 days later furnace not running phoned Fox and Sons 3 times no response, phoned again next day twice finally some one told me we would have a service man come by at 10 AM to find out why their previous work did workout. No-one showed up. I phoned again at 11.15 left another message and I have still not received a call. During all this I also wanted quote for a new furnace and no-one has even responded to that request. This time frame was from Nov 6 2017 to Nov 13 2017. This company is very expensive and very unreliable that does not stand behind their work, anyone dealing with them prepare for large expenses and very poor service. read more

I booked Fox & Sons two weeks in advance to complete HVAC and related electrical work. I thoroughly explained that due to the scope of the work an entire day was required. I also organized and lined up a roofing company for the same day. Fox & Sons were suppose to come first thing in the morning and I never heard from them until I called them at 10:00 am. I was advised that they had to respond to an emergency call that morning and that they would call 30 minutes before arriving. At 2:00 pm, Fox & Sons called and advised that they couldn't send an HVAC person but they could send an electrician. I had two side of the triangle, an electrician, a roofer but NO HVAC person. The soonest that they could reschedule me was two weeks later. I asked if they could come the next day and I was told no. I took a day off from work and waited around all day for nothing. There was no apology or explanation provided. If you want happy customers and great reviews then Fox & Sons needs to improve the way they communicate with customers. Obviously business is so good that they don't care about negative reviews. I will never call Fox & Sons and I don't recommend them. I only rated them one star because I couldn't post this without selecting a star..very disappointed. read more

We called Fox and Sons to do some plumbing repairs at our home in Lumby. The day they were supposed to arrive they were not able to make it which I can understand, being in the construction industry myself. Sometimes ( or most of the time ) crap happens. Anyway the next day they did show up while I was out and when I got home, I asked for a material and labour breakdown of the quote they gave my wife.( Unfortunately I wasn't home at the time or I probably would have just given them their call out rate of 79 bucks and said thank you but no thank you ) The tech told me that they couldn't do that because their system wouldn't allow them to but that because all of their estimate was broke down into flat rates it would be to my benefit because if it ended up costing more Fox and Sons would deal with the extra costs which wasn't true at all because in the end they ended up charging me more than their estimate. Now Im not trying to be sour grapes here and I like to make money myself so I don't want to sound like a hypocrite but in the end they replaced 2 sink drains, a 1/2 copper tee, and installed a vacumn breaker on my HWT in plastic pipe were on site actually less than 4 hours and charged me 1200 and change after an 1100 dollar quote. read more
