The Distillery is right off of the loops main road and features a gravel parking lot with ample space. Per its name, the distillery is known for its ciders and its fruit distilled spirits. Our group opted for one flight of cider, and one flight of spirits. For the spirits, we got two fruit vodkas, a gin, and an apple brandy. All four had a nice fruit essence on the nose. The vodkas tasted as you would expect and the gin had a semi sweet, lightly herbaceous taste. My favorite was the apple brandy which was sweeter with a more discernible apple taste. I did not drink too much of the ciders, but the others at the table expressed that they did enjoy them. They were light and not overly sweet, which is a plus for me, as I feel many ciders are too sweet. There was only one gentleman working behind the bar who was kind and executed our orders within a few minutes.

I first noticed Wilderton at my favorite New Seasons location and was very excited to see them start construction on their tasting room in Hood River. I've been wanting to visit for months and finally got up early enough to finish my snowshoe adventure at Hood Meadows early enough to get here before they closed. And I'm so glad I made the effort to visit! All I wanted to do was simply try all their goods. I discovered that they have your traditional tasting flight...and more. Their taster provides a sample of all of their "spirits". But they also provide a taste of each spirit with a mixer that pairs well with it, such as tonic water, spritz, and ginger ale. So that was a great, and unexpected, addition. They also offer a selection of full cocktails with each spirit and a seasonal cocktail. This time it was the Chai Old Fashioned so I enjoyed that. It's a small, cozy spot in the midst of their production room so it's a neat place to sample the goods and the service was very knowledgeable, kind, and attentive. I'm really glad I visited and I really wish them well!

I hope they can strike perhaps a better balance in the botanicals they produce and perhaps come up with a couple other varietals as two of the three seemed to have similar pairing profiles. The third was a little more earthy and paired better with a bourbon or whiskey but seemed to overpower rather than complement the alcoholic spirit. I saw some other review talked about the credit card machine and printed information; they had all that when I went which was definitely helpful!

A small speakeasy-style tasting room is the backdrop to traditional and smoky bourbons, moonshine, and cordials. (The rumor is they'll be coming out with a gin in the near future!) My personal favorites are the chocolate cordial and the new blueberry cinnamon cordial. My daughter loves the apple pie brandy, cinnamon whiskey, and honey pear cordial. My husband prefers the Viking Lightning (a honey-infused moonshine) and the Whiskey Road bourbon aged in charred white oak. There's something for everyone here! Bonus: They are dog-friendly!

They have such a cute set up and welcoming committee in their puppy, Susie. Kevin starting distilling as a hobby and has turned it into a line or spirits worth trying. Moonshine (apple and cherry pie), raspberry vodka and a whiskey too! All super good and easy to drink and especially dangerous. Both are very knowledgeable and will entertain your questions about the distilling process. I feel like this is a stop I must make whenever stopping in Yakima!
