    Tasting

Very cool place, there's a hidden bar behind a book case! Had fun doing the tasting and ended up buying two of their bottles. The guy doing the tasting was really nice and gave us a little tour of their distillery as well as snuck in a couple larger tasting shots. Really glad we came here.

Matt, a Head Distiller and an A+ tour guide!

We visited the distillery after my Dad met a few of the owners at the Bingen Art and Wine Festival. My Mom and I are not Bourbon drinkers, but my Dad is and we were all eager to learn more about it. Spoiler: we left with a bottle of their clear moonshine Whiskey and two bottles of the Cinnamon Whiskey. One of which they shipped to New Jersey for me! We were greeted by Matt, a Head Distiller, and for the next hour or so he gave us generous tastings and did our tour- walking us through the entire process of what they do and how different spirits are made there. It was fascinating and so cool that it's a true family business. "Skunk" is Matt's Grandpa, who we also met, and their stills are named after their great grandparents- original moonshiners. Come early on a weekday if you can- we had what felt like a private tour but I imagine any time you go there they will be incredibly friendly and make you feel right at home (whiskey drinker or not!).

Fantastic experience! We did the Groupon for the spirit tasting. They were generous in the variety of drink selections and they were incredibly delicious! But more importantly, they were incredibly welcoming and friendly. So many places have become uptight but they created a very relaxed atmosphere (before any whiskey / bourbon was in our system ). Well worth the money!! Definitely worth the visit!!

    Smokejumper Bourbon Cherry Bomb

Wow, amazing bourbon! We stopped in yesterday and enjoyed tasting the Smokejumper bourbon and Moonshine whisky. A highlight was the newly bottled Cherry Cordial - wow is that great or what? To celebrate Independence Day today, I created a Smokejumper Bourbon Cherry Bomb. Fabulous! 2 parts Smokejumper bourbon, 1 part Cherry Cordial, 1 part organic cherry juice, 1/2 part simple syrup, and a squeeze of lime juice. Shake over ice, and strain in to a glass. I muddled a couple of fresh cherries, a small wedge of lime, and a few mint leaves in the glass first. Happy 4th of July! Thank you Skunk Brothers!

This is a great example of a grain to glass craft Distillery. Great family history, both father and son are both disabled veterans, and they make tasty whiskey. The apple pie cordial was definitely my favorite! Make sure to ask about the secret entrance.

Great new distillery in Stevenson WA. Make sure to stop by their tasting room!

We were overcharged for what was advertised as a curated, prepaid wine tour -- yet what we got was the complete opposite. Our driver, Lisa, was completely unprepared and clearly had no idea what she was doing. She didn't even realize that one of the wineries she was supposed to take us to was closed. That alone shows a total lack of planning or professionalism.  Lisa failed to communicate with the wineries ahead of time (which was supposed to be part of her job), and it was obvious she hadn't done any due diligence for our scheduled stops. The entire tour felt like it was being thrown together on the spot, and for the price we paid, that's simply unacceptable. I wouldn't recommend this tour to anyone -- not tourists, not locals, not even casual wine drinkers. There are so many great experiences to be had in the Hood River area. This just isn't one of them!

The man working behind the…read morebar rather than greeting us said "just letting you know I will get to you but it's going to be a LONG while", then gave us 2 menus. Bad start but we decided to go for it (I planned this stop because they had good looking food and cocktails for the non wine drinkers). There were maybe 4 tables occupied, so I was surprised it would take "a long while". One person from my party went directly to the restroom so didn't hear what was said, when he came out he went to the bar and asked if he could order a flight which he received a strict "no it's going to be a long while" Lol I understand being overwhelmed or whatever, we're human, but to have the attitude was unnecessary. We left after a few minutes and spent $400 at another winery down the road. Which by the way was much busier but because they were kind we stuck it out, our server made a good chunk on tips too. Too bad

A great afternoon of lively music with a few local musicians - music across many genres and styles - the Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young rendition took me back into the 70"s. What a blast! Fun partying with friends. Very cool that vineyard owners Tess Barr sang (voice like Dixie Chicks Natalie Maines) and husband played a mean maniacal harmonica. They rocked! Have to go back to just get into the wine and spirits more sometime to enjoy the outdoor vine in view of vineyard with a Mount Hood back drop. Hood Crest makes wine, distills whiskey, cooks da pizza and makes music - makes you live-a-little on the wild side when your spirit connects with Hood Crest!
