Fox Valley Orthopedics & Dr. Petsche is amazing. I had Dr. Petsche repairing my torn right rotator cuff last September. He did an amazing job, I was able to gain full range of motion in 4 months! Now my right shoulder (where the rotator cuff surgery was performed) actually feels better than to left one which is true to his statement when I first met him for consultation. I broke a couple of fingers while at work and have made numerous visits to this office including the day that I was injured. All of my visits have been with PA Scott McKay. I've found the office administrative assistants to be efficient and easy to work with- are they all warm and fuzzy, nope- but I don't necessarily need that everywhere that I go. They communicated easily with the workman's comp company, made several phone calls on my behalf, and always efficiently scheduled follow-up appointments. I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes to be seen when I arrive at my appointment time. I personally would really recommend seeing the PA- I found him to be very friendly, helpful, and easy to talk to about how my pain was progressing as I healed. read more

Robert Taylor PA-C was really helpful, he took time to show me on xray the part of my cervical spine starting to get arthritis and took time to show me exercises that could help. He ordered PT and other referrals that could help as well. After a year of dealing with a neck tremor when I move my neck certain ways I finally feel like I have something that can help with the problem before it gets worse. Also, all of the other staff was incredibly nice as well. read more

I would not recommend anyone go here this place was awful. I made an appointment with Dr. Kazmer for second opinion on my incessant toe joint pain and swelling that will not go away. I already had MRI done at illinois bone and joint with paperwork of MRI. I followed their link they sent to fill out paperwork and take pictures of ID and insurance cards. I get a phone call insurance cards and ID did not come through. I needed to resend and must be sent before appointment. I resend Get to appointment asks to fill out paperwork and give ID and insurance they have no record of me sending in. .... Insane I also noticed another patient came in with my exact appointment time... so dr will probably spend no time with me ... I was correct Go in doctors office .. Dr. Kazmar bursts in door says why are you here. Well you have my mri and report and office notes ... if you looked at any of them you would know why. I begin to tell him that I have had gout for years and recently diagnosed with psoriatic arthritis. He does not listen says ya ya talks over me saying where is xray? I tell him I have an MRI that is 1000x better then xray!! Tells me nope need xrays .. my thought to pad the bill! Get xray images.. go back in room tells me nothing wrong with my toe or joint.. the MRI report is wrong go to primary doctor get on gout meds.. asked me is this my first time having gout? I literally looked him in the face and said I told you I've had this for years then also said I also told you I'm allergic to gout meds. Said well get back with your primary care physician and get on gout meds. Told me to get off all anti-inflammatories told him that I am on naproxen which is an anti-inflammatory told me to continue to take it. This dr talked out of every side of his mouth. Horrific bedside manner no plan on what to do with the current condition. I also told him that my legs have felt weak and muscle pain after multiple steroid shots that I received throughout the month with a prednisone pack told me he never heard of anything like this. One simple Google search would show that prednisone causes leg weakness with just one dose. Acknowledged that my toe and joints and foot were extremely swollen while also telling me nothing is wrong with your foot Could not wait to get me out of the office. Did not listen to anything that I said I would not recommend this doctor to anyone. Total time doctor spent with me was under a minute. read more

If you are in pain- you may as well go to your local liquor store for relief (IF you can walk or drive a car) The war on Vicodin continues. FVO needs a reality check. No transparency. This place used to be good. They are so focused on your insurance they forget you are in pain. I was hit by a truck walking across the street and was in dire need of assistance. The problem with this practice is primarily the reception desk. Once again, the line to check in is all the way to the door (and people) and the two receptionists are sitting there typing away and not checking people in. Mind you orthopedic patients are standing in line 10-15 min just to check in and many are older and on crutches and canes. Of course the quality of the doctor or surgeon is the most important thing but I have had some interesting experiences. I have had 9 appointments and never saw my doctor within an hour of my appointment time; usually 1 to 1.45 hours late. After an accident I had two broken feet and have a spine disorder (many major surgeries). I was referred to this office by the ER where I was treated. I made an appointment and they took xrays then sent me home with two boots leaving the long velcro straps hanging on each boot. I was told "no weight bearing on either foot". When my husband got me home I got out of the car and as I tried to use my crutches the Velcro from one boot stuck to the other and I went flying. They told me to keep weight off both feet but did not prescribe a wheelchair. I told them I have had MANY surgeries on my spine due to genetic issues but no one asked me about my home environment for recuperation. I am older, my husband works, and live where climbing stairs is required for everything. When I told my provider about my fall due to the incident with the straps, she showed NO concern and simply said "we try really hard not to put two boots on". i am not kidding. Dr nazee doesn't listen to his patients or take them seriously. He took off my shoes and socks without asking which was strange and uncomfortable. He said my arms were not hyperextended even though they are, they were just covered by my sweater. He dismissed my concerns and was very arrogant. I've been dealing with bunion pain for years and have been working with Dr. Chura to resolve the issues with both of my feet. The entire team has been FANTASTIC. Dr. Chura listened to my concerns, we decided on a plan and everything moved forward seamlessly. I was very nervous for my first procedure as my dad passed away 2 years ago as a result of a misplaced nerve block during a shoulder procedure (in MN - NOT with FVO). Every single person I interacted with that day - from Dr. Chura, to the nurses, to the anesthesiologist and those in reception treated me with kindness and care and the utmost concern. Everyone has been patient and explains everything in such thorough detail. I feel like I was so prepared for the surgery and what to expect in the weeks to come through recovery. After talking to them again and clarification of what had happened at the time of my treatment with them it was found that this was a error more on the side of the insurance I had at that time. I went to see Dr. Bartel because my left foot had been in terrible pain but only at night when I lay down. He did x-rays and said I had arthritis and should expect pain. I reminded him that he had fixed my right foot in 2009 that had a torn tendon and I thought it was a tendon. He had me exert pressure on his hands and said no it was not. I asked if he needed to do an MRI to diagnosis and he said no I had arthritis. It was swollen with a lump in the middle of the ankle. /as he was about to leave he offered a cortisone shot. I said no as I was not happy that he had blown my doubts of a tendon off. I went to a podiatrist who suggested tape and gave me a cortisone shot. That helped with the pain. Foot continued to get worse, I decided to see another doctor who said I had a drop foot and to see my back doctor right away. I went to Loyola to see the back doctor. He said I had a foot problem not related to my back. Two days later the foot and ankle doctor said it was my anterior tendon running from my big toe to ankle that had ruptured. I am now awaiting surgery. My prognosis is not as good because I have been walking on this since I saw Dr. Bartel. They put me in a boot and had me get a brace as my calf muscles were atrophying and at anytime I could get a full drop foot. read more

Absolutely the worse wait times. I don't care if your a doctor have some respect for others time. I show up timely and understand some appointments may run behind. But when you sit for an hour to an hour and a half for every appointment that says you don't care. I've heard numberous times people checking in both ahead of me and after with the same appointment time with DrT. Huh? read more

I went in on the recommendation of several co-workers who suspected the immediate care doctor had not done a good job of diagnosing my issues. From the moment I walked in the door, I knew this was a good decision. The receptionist desk employees were friendly and helpful, the nurses and techs have been wonderful, the office staff couldn't be better. I saw Dr. Sostak at their walk-in clinic. I got a complete evaluation, and a plan of action before leaving. I did end up having more testing and an MRI on my knee to determine I needed surgery. However, he tried the least invasive methods to remedy my pain before even suggesting surgery. At no time did I ever feel pressured to have any procedure, I was always given the pros/cons of the situation, and all my questions were answered in a respectful manner. When I said I was in pain even though it shouldn't have been an issue, the nurses and Dr. Sostak listened and got it resolved. I ended up having a bit of surgery ( again no pressure, just options and facts ). The surgery team couldn't have been kinder. After surgery, my family was given a complete review of what had been done and what to do for my after-care. Follow up appointments have been great. They recommended a wonderful physical therapy location closer to my home. I'm still healing and I may have some more treatments ahead, but I know I will be in good hands. read more

Unorganized. I showed up for my appointment and they "lost" my information. I waited an hour and a half in the waiting room and another hour in a patient room for the doctor to arrive. He spent a total of 2 minutes with me, giving half-a** answers to my questions. He never really gave me a straight answer about what my issues were but of course wrote me a therapy note and left as he had "a busy day". I felt unimportant, and I will NEVER be returning. Ok, first, to the first reviewer. Co-pays are determined by YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY. Second, they did my first CT surgery on my right hand in 2008. It's been great. Dr Torosion's technique is fantastic and only required two stitches. I can't remember any pain as long as I did not try and pour out of a gallon size milk. I'm going in for my second CT, on my left hand, now, in 2013. I can't wait. And I am someone who hip xrays all of her dogs, to check for hip dysplasia, so when we somehow stumbled on that particular topic, Dr Torosion went to my website and we discussed the various bone diseases or good conformation of the hip joints in my dogs. Very cool. The Dr, and all of his staff has always been very kind and caring and the PT who worked on my hand the first time was so careful, especially when I had a crazy physiological response to seeing a stitch in my hand -- she set me up and checked on me to make sure I did not start to faint again, and was kind, caring and conscientious. Also, it is important to never forget that the attitude you project to those around you is mostly what you receive in return. Maybe something for the OP to think about. I have referred MANY people to FVO. read more

My Family doctor recommended FVO for my swollen and sore ankle. She told me "it's a walk in clinic, go on over there now and see what they say". So I did. Gave them all my infor and they wanted me to pay the copay BEFORE telling me how long I'd have to wait. I said, no, please tell me the wait time first. 2 hours they say. 2 HOURS!! That is not a walk in clinic! So I ask for an appointment and I have to wait 2 weeks!! OK, fine, I'll do it. Come back 2 weeks later to find out that now they want the images from the x-ray I'd had at Urgent Care--the x-rays that were negative, which is why my original doctor referred me here in the first place. Urgen Care never gives out images, so, no, I don't have them. Well, they tell me, doesn't matter that you were told they were negative, we need them anyway. Reschedule for another week later! Ridiculous. The x-rays were negative; can you help me or not? Meanwhile, they now have my copay. Never Again. read more

I am giving them at least 2 stars because the MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS I saw when I was there seem to be good people who genuinely care to help. However, the administrative staff seems to be either incompetent or out over their skis in terms of the volume of patients they can reasonably handle. Whatever the case, I've been waiting almost a month to get an MRI scheduled for a possible Meniscus injury (still don't know because--again, the administrators and schedulers haven't gotten back to me and apparently aren't capable of following up with either me or other care providers to collaborate and share information amongst one another [even though I've given express permission in both writing and verbally]). I'm not going to beg these people to give me an MRI, and I'm not going to wait another month. Unless you have a way AROUND dealing with the office staff, and can contact the care providers directly, I recommend avoiding this place. They are far too busy to dot all their i's and cross all their t's, and that SCARES me. While I have confidence that the doctors, surgeons, and care providers know what they're doing and I've heard good things about them, I just can't trust their office staff with my file, because they either really just don't care enough, or they're too busy to realize that they're dropping the ball on patient files and scheduling, and if they listened to their voicemails and returned calls in a reasonable amount of time, this review wouldn't have been necessary. My apologies to the VERY capable professional who I saw. I believe her name was Jessica, but it was so long ago now that if I ever knew for sure, I really can't remember. What a shame, because I was impressed with her knowledge of sports medicine, and how she was able to explain why I was having pain in places not *directly* related to my ongoing knee problem (yet undiagnosed), but caused by my limping from the knee. Whoever manages the office either needs to take responsibility and resign or start re-staffing where follow-ups are falling flat, because nothing can kill the momentum of a flourishing business like losing sight of CUSTOMER SERVICE. What a terribly run organization from start to finish. Front desk was nice but overwhelmed, nobody was there to help out, and you could tell they were being told to do things a certain way. But boy were they sure to collect that $10 copay. Then I handed over my new patient paperwork I filled out ahead of time but was told the form was 'out of date'. Well I was emailed it soooooo. Had to fill out a new one. Finally I got the 'pleasure' of seeing Dr. Ketterling. What a joke. He's trying to push a shoulder procedure that is out of date, a 'mini open rotator cuff surgery'. Which, for the record, is just an open rotator cuff surgery, the same one they did 25 years ago, not arthroscopic. How can this place claim to be 'state of the art' when they are using procedures from decades ago? I gladly got a second opinion from Dupage Medical Group where they LAUGHED at Dr. Ketterling. Dr Sostak is a fantastic Dr. he has treated my hip and recently performed shoulder surgery. I am very please with him.

In the beginning they were great, got my son in quickly. Since that first appt. everything has gone downhill. They are absolutely AWFUL in communication. There are so many hoops to jump thru just to even leave a message for the nurse, forget the doctor!, and then they never call you back. My son has been on crutches for 3 months, we've been going there about 6 weeks and he is absolutely no better (back issues). He's had an injection and now can't even get a hold of his doctor for further instructions. We are switching immediately and we are very sorry for the time we've wasted so far. read more

I suffered a massive shoulder tear from a bike accident. The tests were done it was clear that surgery was required. After shopping around, I chose Fox Valley and Dr. Petche for the procedure. Every step of the process was impressive, and professional. I highly recommend this group. The office staff was helpful with an insurance change , getting me in quickly for the MRI, and a quick surgery. The outpatient surgery center was great and much preferred over a trip to the hospital. I need to wait 6 months for insurance to cover the $1000 shot for my bum knee. Meantime, they suggest Tylenol - which in my experience does nothing for me. The previous shot worked, but only worked for 3.5 months, not the needed 6 months. But I do not think I am ready for knee replacement - just need a shot more often than insurance pays for. I guess the review is more for Medicare than Fox Valley Orthopedics. read more

We were excited about their "OrthoFirst" program, a cross between a convenient care and Orthopedic visit. What they don't tell you is you're probably not going to see a doctor, you're going to see a physician's assistant. We've used OrthoFirst twice, and never again. With the most recent injury, we followed up a week later at a different practice and had a very different experience, diagnosis, and treatment plan once we were evaluated by an expert physician. Its hit and miss with these people. I had a great experience with Dr. Atkins, caring, listening and comprehensive. The underlying tone of this organization is money, not patient care. It's near impossible to talk with a person or a doctor, even if your'e an existing patient, but when it comes to insurance, billing and getting paid - they got that down to a "T"!Dr. Sostek is impossible to reach. The phone system is archaic, and when you search for his name, it's not listed in the directory. Go to his website and it all looks so pretty and professional, but it doesn't deliver. My son's (14 years old) recent bicep muscle tear resulted in Sostek prescribing Ibuprofen and prescribing a referral for occupational therapy on his elbow! read more

Yep, went back and had my other shoulder done. Again, great doctors which is why I went back. Dr Ketterling was fantastic. I was armed this time with copies if Cigna Health policies. "No, I don't need to pay you up front, you bill me, that's the agreement you get when you accept CIgna. No, I don't have a co pay or need to pay for transfers and x-rays and signatures." It was rewarding, actually got two if the billing people to admit that they are pressed to get as much money up front as they can. Disgusting. read more

I've been Dr Petsche's patient for a number of years. Nothing horrific, just some typical annoying ailments. The staff is so helpful! They navigate the insurance process for you, such as the pre-approval. Appointments are easy to schedule. And the MRI was amazing!! I had to undergo an MRI with arthrogram for a shoulder injury. Lay terms: an injection of dye into my shoulder with a very long needle needle prior to the MRI. These can be extremely painful. I know. There is a PA who only does this. He is amazing!! He puts you at ease with his great bedside manner and he does it so well and so quickly that you cannot believe it's over!! Dr Petsche has performed 2 surgeries on me. Both were very successful. I returned to work the next day following a meniscus repair. I didn't even need PT. I did require PT after a shoulder surgery. I've had PT other places. Not great. Although they do NOT push the PT that's in their building, I drove past other places to go there. Well worth it. I have no idea whether or not they're affiliated with it in any way but it's a great place. I highly recommend this practice. My children had gone there when they were teens and injured themselves. Awesome results. Never pushed to perform surgery. Always the last resort. You're included in the decisions for your recovery. Great place. read more
