After several experiences over the course of the week were staff violated my HIPPA rights - notably when one receptionist grabbed the phone from another, stated my name and said she was ending the call (direct HIPPA violation) and hung up on me, I'm now tasked with tedious ethical obligations. It's important to note I deal with two large Doctors offices weekly - for many years, including getting prior authorizations - for a serious internal injury. The staff openly talk about patients. Dr. Roth engaged in office gossip, then based off that decided to call and attempt to degrade and threaten me. They're all rather stupid not to realize everyone has the ability to record things, and as a communication professional, I was so disturbed after my first contact I knew to protect myself. Over the years, we have received our eye exams and purchased frames, progressive lenses, sunglasses, and other eyewear there\. I have always looked forward to my appointments and have felt welcomed and valued as a patient\. I want to express my sincere appreciation for **all three doctors and the rest of the staff**\. They have consistently been professional, caring, knowledgeable, and welcoming\. I am grateful for the relationships we have built over the years and for the care my family has received\. Unfortunately, I had a disappointing experience during my visit today\. I went in with a specific need and was provided with my prescription and measurements\. When I asked for a referral to another provider who might be able to assist me, I was told to "go down the road\." When I asked whether they could recommend another provider, I was told that they were not familiar with other vendors' policies because they did not work there\. Although I understand that the office may not be able to recommend or speak on behalf of another business, I found the response unhelpful and felt that my concerns were dismissed\. After 30 years as a patient, I had hoped for a more supportive and informative interaction\. I want to emphasize that this experience does not reflect my longstanding appreciation for the doctors and the rest of the staff\. My concern is with this particular interaction and the way it was handled\. Nevertheless, it has caused me to reconsider whether I should look for another eye\-care specialist\. Since we recently moved to **Rotterdam**, finding a practice closer to our new home may be worth considering\. Leaving a practice after 30 years is not a decision I take lightly, especially given the positive experiences my family has had there\.
