I recently had to stop into Agape Eye Care in Malta after my kiddo snapped the arm clean off their glasses. We do have a spare pair, but the prescription is older and not ideal, so I called Agape on Monday to see what could be done. I spoke with the optician, Gary, explained the situation, and asked if I could order a replacement arm. He let me know the glasses were still under warranty and said, "I'll just order a new frame." Sure enough, he called Wednesday to say it was in. I stopped by after work today and the place was busy. I told the receptionist why I was there and she immediately recognized me from previous visits. Gary was helping another customer, but he saw me, acknowledged me right away, and as soon as he finished up, he quickly swapped the lenses into the new frame and adjusted them so they fit perfectly. And this is not an anomaly. It's consistent with how they operate. I can think of at least two other times off the top of my head when they've stepped in and taken care of an issue without any drama. They just fix the problem. Agape isn't the closest eye care provider to me, but it is the best, and that's why I go there. I trust the advice and expertise I receive. In the past, at another practice, I bought expensive designer frames where you're paying mostly for the name. Some were good, some were not. I recall that on my first visit there ever, when I asked Gary what he recommended, he took the time to ask several thoughtful questions and suggested a brand I had never heard of before, Ovvo Optics. He was actually wearing a pair himself. They're incredibly lightweight yet strong. I've since purchased several pairs and honestly doubt I'll switch brands anytime soon. Interestingly, I later came across an article in a magazine, I believe it was Men's Health or Men's Journal, praising Ovvo frames and recommending them highly. Most of what I read, I had already learned from Gary or experienced firsthand, but it was reassuring to see that outside validation. Agape also carries a great selection of Oakley sunglasses. I've purchased a few prescription pairs there as well. Gary sat down with me and thoroughly explained the different lens options, what each was best suited for, and the pros and cons of each. I initially switched to Agape after my former eye care office was bought out and just wasn't the same afterward. The difference here is noticeable. The staff is friendly, professional, and you're treated well. It's not a large chain, it's a locally owned business, and that matters to me. I appreciate that they stand behind the brands they carry and truly know their products. You can see I've reviewed this place twice before. I usually don't write multiple reviews for the same business unless I've experienced a problem and am giving it another chance to see if things improve. That's not what's happening here. I'm not writing because I had an issue. I didn't. I'm writing because they consistently do such a good job that it's worth mentioning again. When a local business repeatedly earns your trust, people should know. For me, it's an easy choice. I'll continue going out of my way to support Agape Eye Care. read more

i am visiting from Florida and have a 24 hour drive back. This week I dropped my glasses and stepped on them and broke the arm. I went to Agrape and everyone was as kind and helpful as possible. The doctor himself took my glasses in the back and put a used arm on it and it works perfect. It's not a perfect match but it will get me home and my wife will not have to drive the whole way. I never met these people, I took a half hour of there time and they would not take a cent from me. If I lived here this would be the only eye care place I would go. I've been a customer for a few years now and recently hand an insurance change at the same time I suffered from kaleidoscope vision. When I arrived at my appointment I was told that although my insurance covers optical, the reason for my visit made the doctor all of a sudden into a specialist with a $40 copay. I was also informed that my secondary insurance, which would have paid for the copay was not accepted by them. So since I was not expecting to have to pay a $40 copay I asked if I could be billed and was flatly refused . So I guess if I'm going to have a stroke, aneurysm burst, or go blind I'll find out when it happens while I'm trying to find a new eye doctor. read more

I admire and respect Dr. Crowe, Gary and the support staff for their attention to detail, professionalism and knowledge. Each are thorough, caring and informative with the process from confirming appointments, examination, to finding the right pair of glasses! Just recently Dr. Crowe went the extra mile to find me the best referral (for a orbital fracture) and secured an appointment within a few hours. And, Gary's can-do attitude making magic happen to repair my favorite frames - I mean really fix my frames that my dog sat on! I had my first visit to Agape Eye Care, after being with a larger chain for years, and was very pleased with the service. The staff is friendly and professional. Dr. Crowe did a thorough eye exam, walking me through each step. She explained what she saw, which fortunately wasn't anything for concern. She entered an update in my eye glass prescription, which will be ready in about a week and a half. I plan on using this office again in the future. read more

I just left from my first appointment with Agape Eye Care. This was by far the most pleasant eye-exam I've ever had. Dr. Crowe explained everything as we went along, had a gentle touch and a great "chair-side manner". The optician, Gary, spent a good amount of time with me helping me choose some frames that would be just right for my face shape and coloring, as well as work best with my prescription. He even took into consideration the type of clothing I might wear for my job. He gave specific details as to why certain lens shapes and sizes would or would not work with my prescription. 3 words....BEST CUSTOMER SERVICE, I have had in a long time. I am going to refer everyone that needs a new pair of glasses or frames to check out this place. My daughter needs glasses and being that she is only 7 months old it is extremely difficult to find a place that carries or that can order the correct frames that would fit her. After getting a directory from my insurance to see who is in the " network" Agape Eye Care was one of them that my insurance appects. I called and talked to Gary and explain to him what I needed. He suggested coming in and seeing the brands and styles that he carries or can order. We went up that same night and it was one of the easiest, processes that I have gone through ordering the glasses I needed for my daughter. Gary took care of everything. From ordering the frames, and then sending them to my insurance company for them to put the lenses in. My husband and I just love the care that we receive at Agape. The doctor is top notch as well as the assistants. She runs many tests to make sure that our eye health as well as the prescription are the best she can provide us. They WILL put new lenses in old frames (a Christmas miracle) and they WILL order a different size of frames if the pair in the store doesn't quite fit. At no charge. Prior to becoming a new patient, I read the positive reviews posted about this business. They obviously were talking about a different company than the one I went to. My appointment was for 11:00. The person who I later learned was the doctor, passed by me no less than three times in the waiting are (I was the only person there), but never said a word to me or acknowledged I was there. At 11:20 the doctor told her receptionist to call a patient and tell them she was running 1/2 hour late. Nobody said a word to me, even though I was the only person in the waiting area sitting directly in front of the receptionist. At 11: 25, I played dumb and asked the receptionist if in fact my appointment was at 11:00 and only then did she say the doctor was running 1/2 hour late. I was fuming at that point. Another patient came in right about that time and overheard me asking about the timing and it was only then that the receptionist told her that they were running at least 1/2 hour late. I ultimately got into the doctor's exam room at 11:45, a full 45 minutes past my scheduled appointment time. The doctor never once apologized or even acknowledged the fact that she was 45 minutes late. Mind you there was only one other person in the office prior to my arrival. Irrespective of the reason why the doctor was late, the fact that she totally disregarded MY time, showed me just how little she cared about me, a BRAND NEW PATIENT! I was so totally disgusted by the doctor's lack of regard for my personal time and I will never go back. read more

I am a very big fan of Agape Eye Care. I have gone to other optometry offices for glasses and an attempt at learning to insert contact lenses. At other eye centers I have felt rushed, not satisfied with my glasses and never able to master the technique of lens insertion. At Agape Eye Care, they were polite, encouraging and extremely professional and also fun. My exam with Dr. Crowe was very thorough and Gary taught me how to successfully insert contact lenses in less than 20 minutes. It was amazing. Gary also helped me pick out new glasses keeping the price within my budget. I would recommend Agape as I really can "see the difference". read more
