Had some amazing drinks but what sets this place apart is the people there. All of the bartenders were friendly and down to earth. If you want to get to know the locals make sure to sit at the bar. Highly recommend.

First visit to Foxes was for a special event. Not sure about the regular entrance or usual menu because they had us wait in the alley to come in the back, and it seemed they had possibly created a specially-designed cocktail menu for the show? There was a small stage in the corner, a fun seating arrangement, and an equally fun atmosphere created by the lighting. Again, not sure if all of that belongs to the venue, but for a show it was top-notch. First, their website isn't very informational. Sure, it's all slick, glossy, flashy and trendy, but if you glance at the various pages, it seems more designed to attract investors for Foxes Hospitality Group (FHG) than providing any easy knowledge. Nowhere on the homepage is the location. If you scroll down to the bottom right, you have a link to a telephone number, scroll up for contact and you get a strange address of: 1136 Yampa Street #3 LL. Why wouldn't that be on your homepage and the soliciting investors on your contact page? You also are not provided with the cocktail menu (or food, if they even have any?) As of this review, if you click on MENU link, it simply redirects to the CONTACT page. While I can appreciate the Mixologist might not want to share any drink secrets online, or be married to concoctions that are seasonal and they're too lazy to update the webpage, it strikes less as a cryptic introduction to a speakeasy feel (like figuring out which place in the alley is where you're looking for) and more as an annoyance to not have a glimpse in advance for what cocktails are popular there, and even more elusive, how much they'll cost you. Assuming the menu below is the venue's usual one, you can now get a glimpse of the various cocktails, and in my case, each was $20 and up, except for the Topo Chico listed which they didn't have, and charged me $3.50 for club soda. The service from Gretchen was nice, the vibe was great; the Velvet French Martini, I would definitely get again. A few restrooms, didn't get to see the front portion, I don't think. It just seems that from the silent website, and going there for a special event and not their "normal" configuration; perhaps the show had much more to offer than the venue itself? I'd probably return for a second attempt at Foxes if a group wanted to go there or ended up there after other activities downtown. But because of their sporadic hours, it most likely would only be to attend another show there.

Pleasantly underrated... For now. This is your traditional word of mouth hidden speakeasy gem. It's about time the boat catered to the spirits. Get in early find yourself a spot in this quaint bar. Come with an open mind and enjoy some of the tantalizing elixirs these folks have to offer both on and off menu. Excellent drink with a pleasant down to earth service.

We walked in and the hostess was eating a piece of pizza, which I thought was funny. But now looking back, it definitely set the tone for the evening. Our waitress barely looked at us or talked to us. After ordering the wine, the gentlemen that came over was rushed, barely said two words, poured the wine and before we could ask for a decanter, had already filled the glass. It was not personable at all. They did not come around to refill our wine glasses all night. There was one gentlemen bringing food that was great, but most of the night our food was placed down in front of us without any explanation to what we were eating. Even if the food was spectacular, the front of the house experience was such that we wouldn't be back. Especially when dropping that kind of money.

The atmosphere strikes a nice balance between upscale and comfortable--refined without feeling overly formal. It's a great setting whether you're there for a relaxed date night or a small group dinner. The riverfront location adds a calm, scenic backdrop that makes the whole evening feel a bit more special. The service stood out as attentive and well-paced. Staff were knowledgeable about the menu and offered helpful suggestions without being overbearing. Courses came out smoothly, with just the right timing between plates. The food itself was the highlight. Everything was thoughtfully prepared and well-executed, with clear attention to flavor and presentation. The menu has enough variety to feel interesting while still being cohesive, and the dishes we tried were balanced and satisfying rather than overly complicated. Overall, it's a strong choice in Steamboat for a higher-end dinner that still feels approachable. It delivers a consistently solid experience--good food, good service, and a setting that makes the evening feel like a step up from the usual night out.

Enter Aurum, an upscale dining experience with delicious twists on fan favorites. We luckily hovered like a helicopter and snagged a table by the bar as the wait was quite looooooong. Our waiter was super accommodating, friendly, and prompt. I dined on the nachos with Chicken tinga for the table and the Korean fried chicken (KFC). When we asked our waiter about the KFC he said it was "pretty good", boy was he wrong. They were absolutely fire, in the best way. A little spicy, juicy/moist, and bountiful! I wish I ordered two of them jawns! The nachos, shared for the table, were also spitting some game! A pretty robust amount of nachos satiated the table. Again, we could've/should've ordered two! If you miss this place then shame on you!

We were seated right away with no reservation (on a Tuesday evening around 7:30 pm); I imagine reservations probably come in handy. We started with a bottle of wine - the wine list had a wide range of bottles priced lower to your more expensive bottle; we chose one in the middle range (super Tuscan) and it was very tasty. Reviews on food: Calamari: I really enjoyed the calamari! It was lightly battered but had just enough crunch. The flavor was great. They even had lemon wedges and pepperoncini fried in with the calamari which I loved. Cesar salad: I forgot to snag a picture of the salad, and it also happened to be my least favorite item we ordered. The dressing was overly sweet for my liking and did not have your standard Cesar flavoring. I wish I would have asked more about the dressing to understand it a little better. I probably would not order this salad again. Eggplant parmigiano: this was sooooo good! The eggplant was breaded and cooked perfectly. I could have just eaten the eggplant it was so tasty. Highly recommend!! Tagliatelle bolognese: I am a huge sucker for bolognese, so I usually judge this sauce pretty tough. This. Was. De. Licious!!! The meat sauce was full of flavors and the noodles were cooked perfectly. I was impressed! Butterscotch budino: perfect way to end our meal. I'm a huge fan of butterscotch flavored desserts and this did not disappoint. It was light and not too heavy after a meal of pasta. The thick layer caramel on top was delicious. The portions were big in my opinion, so while prices were a little high, I thought we got our moneys worth of food. Our server (and others that came to the table) were all super kind and helpful. It does get very loud in the restaurant, so had the weather been nice enough to eat outside, I probably would have chose the patio seating. Overall this was a great meal! 5 starts for the scrumptious food, portion size, and service.

Small restaurant that has been around since the 1990s. My partner enjoyed his sommeliers choice wine Complementary bread (2 small pieces) with olive oil and olives. Pretty good Tomato and crab bisque (shared) was super rich creamy and delicious The duck breast was meh for me. Meat was fine but the rest of it all together was off The venison short loin (red elk) was amazing. It was cooked perfectly- rare to medium rare. Mashed potatoes were good. Asparagus was just ok Crème brûlée was also super delicious. The vanilla bean inside was great We were ready to come back on our last night to order the venison again before we drove back home 3 hours bc the food was so good My biggest complaint and why I dropped two stars were the services. the server was super nice and attentive at the start. But once we finished the entree, he spent most of the time chatting with the table across from us. We heard the whole convo as we were waiting for him to remove our plates and bring us the dessert menu. It was 8pm and he only had two tables left: Our table and the other table. He chatted with the other table about furbo and ring cameras for their pets for a very long time. Maybe ten minutes later he took our plate and said he'd bring the dessert menu. Then he brought them wine , chatted with them for a bit about growing up in steamboat and the neighbors and then he eventually brought our dessert menu. Then while we were eating dessert, chatted with them for another good 20 minutes without even looking at us. We just wanted the check but my partner didn't want to be rude and interrupt him. By 9pm we got tired of waiting and we got up, put our coats on and walked to the front to try to pay at the front. That's when he came over. No apology, just said oh you want to pay? Charged our card and gave us the receipt to sign. We noticed he over charged us. He was already back chatting with the other couple and my partner didn't want to interrupt him so then I went to go ask another employee for help which then got the servers attention and he came over. Then we waited like 10 minutes until he was able to refund and recharge the correct amount. We had just driven 3 hours after having a medical emergency all morning and almost cancelled our trip. We had an absolutely heart wrenching day with the news we received from the doctor. But we decided to move forward with the trip and just have a nice dinner as we recovered for our first night. So while the food was good, this was not a pleasant ending to our already terrifying day. Pay attention to ALL of your customers! Not just the ones who are clearly wealthy and keep ordering more glasses of wine. I am updating the review 06/09 because in the end, the restaurant made it right.

It took pretty long for them to greet us or bring anything out after we ordered it - I'm talking 40 minutes for our meals, and our server Sam was a little sassy but I'm sure it was just the product of an overwhelming shift. We shared a bunch of stuff for the table, the large steak chimichurri, the burrata, tomato salad, the truffle fries, the kale beet salad, the mac & cheese, and the soup of the day which was truffle mushroom. The stuff was pretty good, I loved the tomato burrata. When I ordered the soup, I asked if it came with any bread or crackers, and he said no, but that he could add in some of the crostinis for me. He ended up charging me several dollars for those later, which I discovered on the bill. That didn't feel right, but whatever. The fries were yummy, the steak was OK and the chimichurri was not even real chimichurri - for $80 for one steak i was hoping for a little bit better experience there. The other dishes were good, but nothing was super memorable here, they did mention that their lunch menu was more well-known and that we should try that, which some of the group did go back the next day and said that it was a much better meal. I know that this is on property at a ski resort and that I never expected prices to be super reasonable, but I was a little bit disappointed for the value here.
