In a place that frankly would have every right to act a bit "full of itself", the staff is professional and has clearly been trained to treat everyone as a "member". At least the bare trees allow views of the surrounding lake which are mostly obscured in the summer. Starting in 2022 the Bear Trace courses are now collecting sales tax on greens fees which results in a price increase of almost 10% over the previous rates.

Even w riding I got about 8k steps in. (But I also purposefully will take my "Sunday bag" and walk to my hike and let my seated partner drive to theirs) I'm a newbie golfer (2yrs) but have intentionally tried out various courses and am learning quite a bit about them and how "I" personally rate them: so this is my own personal newbie experience Much like my home course in Aberdeen Maryland: It's flat. Pretty wide open. If you hit halfway decent you shouldn't lose balls to "off the fairway"...unless you really are way way way off the fairway Few hazards...but it's best to go with folk who know where said hazards are..there's one man-made ravine that crossed the fairway on a par 5 that isn't noticeable from the tee box. From the red tees, water was only a hazard a couple of times right off the box The greens were in great shape, and the fairways fine (imo) It runs along the Tn River, so pretty quiet and peaceful and not amongst houses. There's a walking path between "it" and the river so bikers and walkers are seen, but not a disturbance. It was a BEAUTIFUL Autumn day which made the course even more enjoyable! Two of our foursome had never been there and we both commented how much we liked it and look forward to returning. The greens and fairways were in great shape for the most part (if they had sand on the golf carts, I think the fairways would be in better shape). It's a friendly course, that is pretty wide open, has strategically placed sand traps (really deep ones by the way) and some tricky water features. The greens themselves have some really cool twists and turns, too, making the putting piece interesting and fun. I did not have time to check out the pro shop too thoroughly or the "grill." I did see a couple of guys enjoying a beer on the back, covered deck. Looking forward to many more fun rounds at PMGC!

It's very remote, but worth the drive. The restaurant is built and decorated in a lodge style. We had a table directly in front of the fireplace. Our server was excellent. She knew the menu well, memorized everyone's order, and checked on us continually throughout the meal. They had a very good (and pricey) wine list. I had a Riesling, but it was ordered for us, so I don't know the specifics. The menu is a bit limited. I started with a Hal Caesar salad. It was just the right amount of salad and dressing, and was very good. For dinner, I wanted the scallops, but not with caviar that it comes with. I would have liked the trout, but it's not Rainbow or other white flaky varieties. It's Steelhead, which pink and dense like salmon, so I settled on the paradelle with wild boar ragu. It was tasty in a brown, but spicy, sauce. The meat was tender, and the noodles were excellent. They tasted homemade. We finished by sharing their desserts. I particularly enjoyed the cheesecake.

It markets itself as a "high end" luxury resort. It fell short in the food and concierge services. It is very secluded on a mountain top. They had several restaurants, spread out between the golf club house and resort lodge areas. It was like pulling teeth to get information on the dining options. A resort map with explanation of each venue would have fixed the issue, but none available. The wait staff were clueless about menu items and wines. I asked for a "buttery" Chardonnay and the waitress replied: "she don't drink no more, but never tried these when she did, so she don't know." Never occurred to her to ask the bar tender. She was sweet and innocent and not her fault. This place needs to train their staff to provide the service they advertise so the service meets the cost to stay and dine there. The food portions were ridiculously skimpy, although very pricey. Something was just really off about this place.

FOOD ALWAYS COLD I've ordered several menu items and they ALWAYS come out warm or cold. SERVICE Service is hit or miss depending on who you get. Sometimes we get someone very attentive and sometimes we'll get someone who says hi at the beginning and is only seen again when our time is up. KITCHEN AND BAR HOURS They've now told us that the kitchen and bar will close an hour before they close so if you book for an hour at the end of the night you won't have any food or alcoholic beverages.

They do have one problem, they have not trained the deer to rake the fairway bunkers yet but they said they'd work on that.

The teetime reservation system is the worst I've ever seen. It is online only and open only a couple times per year. The customer service is even worse than that! I made a $40 reservation on a teetime for a week ago when it was raining, so I called the clubhouse to see about a rain check. I called four times and never got a hold of anyone in the pro shop, and never received a callback from anyone either. I emailed the pro shop as well and again had no response to my email either. So, I'm out $40 now and never even got to change my teetime. I will say it is very disappointing to have this type of customer service from any business. We will not be going back.
