I've been meaning to write a review for the amazing team at Foxtail Catering. My company bought a second a building and was looking for a polished caterer for our grand opening. I randomly came across them on Yelp and our team reach out for the menu and it was exactly what we were looking for and the prices were within our budget. We were looking for a California farm to table with some vegan options and they understood the assignment. We also had a tasting scheduled and it was delicious so we knew we made the right choice. The Tri-tip was the best! Perfectly seasoned and the right amount of pink. They also had this yam noodle with sesame sauce and fresh herbs that was very memorable. Their lamb sliders were the best I ever had, and I don't like lamb. Although my company decided to only stick to wine and beers for the event, they still served us some of their cocktails and they were tasty! The hospitality we got during the tasting was a 10/10. So on the day of the event, their service was just as impeccable. A lot of vendors raved about the food and service. If I ever had another event, we will definitely hire Foxtail Catering in a heart beat! read more

Their commitment to detail, their incredible staff, their empathic and proactive way of producing an event made our wedding party the best night of our lives. From the very start, our event planner, Melanie, deeply understood our vision and guided us along the planning process to make sure it was executed flawlessly. She was a joy to work with, was able to anticipate and handle every obstacle with grace, and thought of the smallest details that would make the night memorable, joyful, and magically comfortable for us and our guests. I'll never forgot what it was like to walk into our venue for the first time and see the event brought to life -- it truly took our breath away. Everything was considered --from the design and flow of the space to the smallest details on the bar and on the food stations. And now, a moment for the food. We had a very specific vision to have Korean and Japanese food and a mix of grazing tables, family style, and food stations. We wanted our guests to get up and walk around and to feel like the food was shared and casual. Foxtail absolutely nailed it and everything was incredibly delicious -- the short rib bao bun is legitimately one of the best Korean fusion dishes I've ever had. I think my favorite food compliment was when someone said, "this is the food I wish I was eating at every wedding." Foxtail also accommodated our guest's various food allergies and packed food for my husband and I to eat when we got home. There's this incredible high-caliber of professionalism and quality that Foxtail leads with -- but what we fell in love with was their heart. Since then they've done quite a range of events at the venue where I work, a couple happy hour pop ups, to corporate day meetings, cocktail receptions to formal sit downs. Each time they are a pleasure to work beside from the guys on the floor to Tommy, the head chef, and Rhonda, the event coordinator. They've got a great selection of standard apps and actions stations, but each time I come to them with a strange request like Zombie themed apps or a tight budget, they make it work! And honestly, one of the best things about Foxtail is once things are set, I can completely take them off my radar. Where to even begin? Can I give 6 stars?? We just had a destination wedding on 10/29/16 & I am still hearing compliments about how beautiful and delicious the food was. I guarantee that with Foxtail, they'll exceed expectations and deliver the most delicious and beautifully arranged dinner course that will make you wonder how they do it outside of the confines of a normal kitchen! Our engagement with Foxtail was a very unique one (to say the least)--where I served as a three-in-one (MOH, Wedding Planner, & Day-of Coordinator) for a 3 month-long wedding engagement. For two entire months, I had contacted over 20 caterers from yelp, and with each one, I was seriously underwhelmed with either the menu, or the time of response it took for some of the account managers took to respond (some took 3 days to respond between each email correspondence!!). BUT, with Foxtail, it was completely different. From start to finish, Christina made sure that I was taken care of, answered my 23948732 questions so promptly (I'm a project manager, so I know how to ask tons of questions) and delivered a menu that I knew for sure would WOW our guests. At first glance of the menu, I knew this caterer would be the one. Since our venue was a private villa, everything had to be brought to the venue (including ovens, dinner rentals, tables, chairs, heat lamps, etc). In order to keep myself sane day-of and limit the # of unique vendors, I trusted Christina to source the exact type of rentals that I needed and she was seriously SO helpful throughout the whole process. We couldn't do the complementary menu tasting because I had booked a flight out on the only day that they had a spot available, but I had full trust in Christina and the Foxtail team to deliver, so I had no issue with it. Throughout the wedding, the food was so delicious, and the servers/waiters never left a glass half-empty! It was a beautiful night and I seriously couldn't have done it without Foxtail. I heard compliments saying that it was the most delicious salmon they had ever had (and mind you, these are folks who have been to plenty of nice restaurants, flying from overseas!), and I was so ecstatic to hear that everyone LOVED the appetizers and the dinner menu. They helped clean up more than they were scoped to do and left the place SO clean & even helped to trash our florals (which we had A LOT of). I am just so grateful for the team & for making my life so easy! They are a bit on the pricier side, but for a once-in-a-lifetime event like this--it is SO worth it. I had to organize a company progressive dinner - three course at three houses. Appetizers with bubbly, wine, and beer at house one went amazingly. Beef carpaccio, bruschetta, and beet and goat cheese lollipops were presented daintily and beautifully. The fact that they all taste good is just the kicker. We travelled to course two with a bus of beer. Moseyed up the stairs to be greeted with a buffet of awesomeness: sea bass, roast chicken, cucumber yogurt salad, roasted potatoes, grilled vegetables and dinner rolls. The whole house smelled amazing. People went for seconds. I mentally pat myself on my back. Jump off the bus to the third and last stop. I handle all of our co. events both internal and external. My latest project was our office-warming party. In my role, I had worked with several caterers in the past but nobody really stood out and I really wanted to make this event special. I did what most people do on this site - checked yelp! Foxtail had fantastic reviews and so did Rhonda...so I called. Rhonda was friendly, professional, responsive and overall exudes awesome-ness. I told her we had about 200 people expected, what our budget was and what we were going for. Less than 24 hours later she had a proposal to me and we chatted further on the phone to seal the deal. I was nervous because I had never used her services before but had faith in my fellow Yelpers....our party was last night (the fact that I'm typing this the next day should be pretty telling!) and it blew me away. Her entire crew was friendly, professional, on top of it. The food was DELICIOUS - we did a Sushi station, Slider station and "South of the Border" station + we had a full bar (champagne, wine beer). Just pulled off an amazing surprise birthday party for my wife last night. At first I wasn't sure whether I wanted to do a catered event rather than a private dinning party at a restaurant. I'm really glad I choose to do the catered event with Foxtail Catering. Rhonda helped me plan the event and make sure that all of the pieces came together flawlessly (it was a complex event with limo pickups, various performers entertaining throughout the evening and a great venue chosen by Rhonda). The menu that Tommy put together was fantastic and everyone at the party raved about the food. One guest had dietary restrictions and Tommy created wonderful substitute dishes for her. Wow. Foxtail Catering produced a fantastic event for my company's office-warming party. The entire process was a breeze - from proposal to event execution, the Foxtail team is flawless. On-site event staff were above and beyond professional and courteous, the food was spectacular, and the decor made our office look great during the entire affair. I just received a follow-up call from Rhonda, their event coordinator, which reminded me that I needed to post a review singing their praises. We're a start-up with lofty expectations and very low budgets, and they worked with us throughout the process to produce a high-class event that fit our budget - with no 'tude when we asked for multiple changes and tweaks. During the event, when our fuses went out, the owner Tommy hustled around our office space with me to find the breaker box and get them back up as quickly as possible. Although there are not words enough to express what a wonderful experience it was to work with Rhonda, Tommy, and the entire Foxtail Catering and Events crew, I would be remiss not to give it my best shot. Let's get this out of the way first: Their food is better than anything you'll get from a typical caterer. They are seasonally, locally (and perhaps divinely?) inspired to create custom menus that are unlike what anyone else is doing. If you think tuna tartare or passed crabcakes are impressive, get ready to be blown away with flavor. Finding a caterer for a party that would be my first big showing for a new company that holds the standard for success very high was bound to be a challenge. From the beginning Rhonda, the general manager of the crew, was profoundly honest, reasonable, and patient when working with our tight budget and high standards. She gave critically important feedback on the competitive catering quotes we were receiving, she helped me understand deeper components of the industry (rentals, on-site vs. off-site cooking, staff, etc.) that drive prices, and she accurately shaped what I could expect from different vendors and different price points. Rhonda and Tommy went above and beyond during the bidding process by not only making a site visit to help us understand rental needs and how we could drive traffic during an event but by also doing an unbelievable tasting for us of our menu. (I guarantee you that there are very few caterers out there doing the quality of food that this company does who would make a site visit and taste you on your entire menu!) On the night of the event Rhonda and her team were flawless. Guests raved about the food and even though we were serving a ravenous crowd we always had more than enough to feed them. I never noticed a dirty glass, plate or napkin around the event that there wasn't a server en-route to pick up. At exactly the moment I felt my blood sugar drop from running around like a maniac Rhonda showed up behind me with a plate of beautiful food from the various stations and the strict command to go eat it! One thing worth mentioning is that about 10 minutes before Rhonda and her team showed up the elevator at event facility broke. Without a single complaint, sigh, or bead of sweat her team hauled all of their equipment and supplies up two flights of stairs! In fact, they were all laughing and making sweet jokes about what a good workout it was while they did it. I could not have asked for a more professional guide through this process and I'd recommend this team to anyone who wants the very best for their guests. Rhonda and her team were fantastic at my wedding. We had 160 people and our venue was pretty complicated--a 20 acre property with multiple locations for the pre-ceremony drinks, cocktail hour, dinner, and dessert/drinks/dancing. Everything was flawless.. the food was prepared beautifully and was DELICIOUS. People still randomly bring up the wonderful family-style meal we ate that evening, and it's been several months! They were also really reasonably priced compared to other companies we got quotes from. Rhonda was such a pleasure to work with, and she made the planning process easy. "That was some of the best food I've ever had at a wedding". That statement from one of my friends (and a sentiment echoed by others) pretty much sums up why we were so happy with Foxtail, who catered our wedding in early January 2015. Breaking it down further.... First of all, though we had a wedding planner, Julie, our Foxtail contact, was like having another really key helper. She was keep to help us ensure that the food was the right amount, the service was great and we added those little touches (as you'd expect), but she was also so helpful as we closed gaps like lighting and rentals. We ran all of those miscellaneous vendors through Foxtail, who did the coordination. Meeting with Julie was a breeze and she was always quick and thorough in her responses. Our other vendors also commented on how detailed and organized Julie made our wedding process. As Foxtail is also an event company, they had a great set of contacts. Next, the service was immaculate. I've never seen such a "swarm" of servers on the day of our event. Foxtail staff was literally everywhere you needed them to be, yet also, not in the way. They circulated drinks and apps during the cocktail hour in an expedient and professional manner. And, during dinner, they were an efficient machine. All of the staff seemed to be experienced and there were no let-downs that I heard about. A nice little touch: we had a waiter, as bride and groom, who was assigned to us; a very friendly woman who stopped by often to make sure all was great. And, last but not least, the food. Excellent! We did a tasting several months prior and everything we tried was great. The thing I liked as a guy from the south was that their chef completely embraced our desire to intermingle Southern and Californian fare. So, we had these little plays on "Shrimp and Grits" (a polenta cake topped with shrimp) and "Chicken and Waffles" (a skewer with fried chicken nugget and small doughnut) as passed appetizers. All of my friends and family raved! On top of that, Foxtail suggested a signature His and Hers champagne cocktail (we only did beer and wine)..a really nice touch! They were crowd favorites. They put bourbon soaked cherries in the "his" so it was a bit more masculine ;). Dinner was great too. We did all family style complete with a rosemary chicken, a beet, greens and citrus salad, some brussel sprouts, mashed potatoes...and, the star of the show, cheddar biscuits with an apple compote. I hail from a catering background and thought I was an expert. Then I became an event producer and worked with Foxtail for the first time and was humbled when I witnessed their work. I first hired them to cater an all day conference for 300 guests. My client didn't close registration and 500 attendees showed up for lunch. They miraculously not only managed crowd control but somehow also fed all these additional guests? How? They were tracking attendees and quantities from breakfast and took the initiative to insure my event was a success by upping food quantities and never skipped a beat. My next event with them was a seated served gala for 800 guests. My sales rep Patrick was genius enough to time the service path from the kitchen to the furthest table. To call the catering execution on this event anything short of genius would be a gross understatement. When I have thrilled clients it makes me look like a hero and who doesn't love that? When my wife and I got engaged, we found a venue that we liked in Oakland and decided to have a German (Bavarian) theme to our wedding. We were looking around for vendors that could meet our thematic needs and deliver high quality food and service. In short, Foxtail did an amazing job. Patrick Hamilton, our Foxtail contact, exceeded our expectations in every category and was immeasurably helpful at every step along the way. Foxtail not only created a custom menu to meet our theme, but they helped us plan the entire event and worked with us on rentals and all of the other details. Foxtail caters dinner at my office once a week. It's very hit or miss, more misses than hits. Why? Often the food is bland. Bland, bland, bland. It's like salt doesn't exist in that kitchen. Meat tends to get overcooked a bit too. I'd say during the last four services things have improved, but it's still not consistent. It's a shame because the menus always sound so good. read more

Foxtail Catering took appetizers and drinks to a whole new level at our company happy hour party. I had been to Chef Tommy Halvorson's Phoenix Supper Club events and when I found out he had a catering company I thought I would try it out. If his catering food was even as close to as good as the food I had at The Phoenix Supper Club I knew I would have no regrets... To no surprise the food was definitely on par. We reviewed several proposals for our wedding at The Pearl in San Francisco but not one compared to what Foxtail gave us. It was an easy choice to hire them and thank goodness we did as we were completely blown away by the food Alan Yedlin and co. executed. Our guests repeatedly told us it was the best wedding food they had ever had. By the way, this included a very specific cheese/charcuterie board, raw bar, several passed apps, a 3 course dinner AND late night small bites.
