This business puts higher price tags on products, hoping you won't notice. When you do, they will not do ANYTHING to rectify the problem. I purchased two wigs- one for 70.00 and another for 200.00. I noticed when I returned home that I had a different wig, which was cheaper than the wig given to me. I called to explain the situation, was told to send in pics. I took the wig back to the store as I'm sure I paid at least 60.00 more than the price of the wig given. I did not want any cash back....just a store credit that I could at least buy something else for the 200.00 I paid for the wrong wig. I live in California, and I will be traveling back on Saturday. The employee tried to convince me that I had the right wig even though the tags which were still on the wig, clearly marked 'FOXX BEAUTY SUPPLY, cashier recognized me, they would not give me a credit because I did not have my receipt, which I'm not even sure I was given one. So, buyer beware! The prices on the wigs are higher , and they do it purposefully to rip off their customers. I will NEVER give this shop my business again! read more

DO NOT PATRONIZE FOXX BEAUTY IN BALDWIN! I have been a loyal customer for YEARS. TODAY, I purchased a can of hairspray. When I went to use it, the nozzle didn't work. Because I was pressed for time, I went to the nearest drugstore to purchase a similar item. I went back to Foxx beauty to request a refund because I had to spend additional money and time due to their faulty product. They denied the refund. I asked why, if the nozzle clearly doesn't work. No reasonable answer could be given. After this, I will no longer use them. As badly as I would like to support my own, I refuse to reward bad behavior. read more

I'm actually quite upset that I have to write this review because I have been a loyal customer of the store owner, even prior to this new business opening. As mentioned in a prior comment by another unhappy customer, I felt as if I was being followed around the store. In a span of 4 minutes, I was asked twice if I needed assistance. This is unacceptable and creates an uncomfortable shopping experience. I did not even continue to shop for what I needed as I felt HIGHLY uncomfortable being watched and followed from isle to isle. I am honestly very disappointed to have had this experience and regretful of the amount of people I have referred to this business. So much for traveling 30+ minutes just to show support! For future reference, it is advised to greet your customers nicely, avoid asking MULTIPLE times if they need help, and NOT follow them around the store (it's VERY obvious). I tried to give this place the benefit of the doubt, after reading all the reviews of being followed around the store. I drove from a different town to support this business and became a regular customer. Then the past 2 visits I get like I was being watched, and today was the final straw. They don't even try to hide it although when yo point of out they try to act shocked and say "no that's not true". I tell the person behind the register how I just watched the person move from aisle to aisle as I moved and then suddenly she becomes mute. I will be happily taking my business elsewhere. read more

The ABSOLUTE WORST CUSTOMER experience I always encounter. To the owner that is a black man very kind and helpful...the ladies that are employees have no respect for this business or for themselves. To continually be so nasty when you go in or call to do a product check is so natural for them. Three stars are actually quite generous! I have made multiple attempts to support this establishment merely because of the location. I often struggle with purchases as they never have in stock the hair products that I need. Helpful hints to the manager. 1. Improve on better lighting too dark 2. They have everything! Everyone is very helpful! Everyone who works there is very personable. l think there's a worker there by the name of Heavenly she's great! Could have stayed in this store for hours. I was met by the most courteous young woman upon entering, by the name of Stephanie. She assisted me in trying on several wigs along with her wonderful coworker Funke (who's from Nigeria; and makes a great jollof rice which we discussed) They were both knowledgeable and most helpful in guiding me on my purchase. The store is well stocked, very clean & well lit. Most importantly as a beauty supply store it's a black owned & operated business. Quite the anomaly in New York to say the least. Poor Customer Service I was calling to ask if they carried a specific product in their stores, and after asking the price the lady refused to share that with me stating it was store policy (which is bullshit). I was then hung up, and when I called again no answer(intentionally ignoring). I have easily been to over 50 beauty supply store in Nassau County. This is the best one. They have hundreds of products for every hair type and every hairstyle. Wigs, weave, braiding hair, organic deep conditioner they have everything your heart desires. One of the sales associates helped me look for a wig for over 30 minutes and she was so nice the entire time. The staff here works very hard to provide the best experience possible. They are also extremely knowledgeable. The store is not dark at all, they have a lot of products in stock, and the people are great. I love it! read more

Literally just walked out of the store with my boyfriend with pure disgust. Went in there to purchase a bonnet and was ambushed by what appeared to be top flight security, a heavy set balding salt and pepper hair colored male. He followed us through out the store the entire time watching our every move as if we were stealing. Very insulting to say the least. Even as my boyfriend was paying he kept jumping as if he was expecting my boyfriend to pull something unpleasant out. He asked if we needed help and I loudly and clearly said no but he proceeded to follow still. This is one of the most unpleasant shopping experiences I've had in a while and at the hand of my own black people is even more disgusting. This beauty supply store is going to be a problem for me. I usually go to Ulta to get some of my hair products, but decided to stop into Foxx to see if they carried what I was looking for. Well, they surely do and a lot more. This store has all of the high end products I usually see at Ulta, as well as reasonably priced products. This store is very well organized and fully stocked. There is a young lady who works on the floor who is very friendly and knowledgeable. If you tell her what hair issue you are having, she will easily be able to make a recommendation based on the issue you are having. The man who rang up my order was also very friendly. This is my kind of store. I will definitely be coming back to Foxx for all of my beauty supply needs. read more

I wish that I could leave a glowing review for Foxx Beauty Supply. The layout of the store and the prices even the hair are all great but the staff in this store sucks. I went into Foxx's with my friend for the first time. Immediately we noticed the staff following us one woman came up to us and asked did we need help I stated to her that no we didn't need help I didn't raise my voice or anything I just wanted to look in peace. I don't like feeling pressured to buy something. She replied oh you don't need help in a very rude and condescending tone. I felt belittled buy her so I left and as I was exiting she mumbles about me needing help. I would never go back ... This place is horrible. I tried to exchange something they said the owner needs to do it. The owner was nice told me I can Exchange it for store credit and he would tell the staff. when it came time to return it he wasn't there and the staff will not exchange it. I tried calling the owner and I was told to stop calling. I wanted to exchange a $30 item and spend 200. Obviously they don't know how to run a store. I also made an appointment for something else and was stood up. I have never been treated like this in a store these people are unhappy people! I used to regularly come to this store when it first opened. Haven't stepped foot in this store in years. Why? Because I was constantly followed around by employees pretending to not follow you and constantly asking "do you need help?" Even after stating I was just browsing. I couldn't even determine what color I wanted to dye my hair in peace. The last straw was when a friend and I went into the store to buy edge control. I always check if a product is used. So I opened the lid to an edge control (it was the last one) I wanted and it had a finger print in it. I decided to go to buy it from lucky's instead. One of the young ladies that was following us around runs after us yelling upon us leaving the store. After being annoyed with the following us , I ignored the girl but my friend went back. The girl was trying to claim that we used the product and wanted us to pay for it. Here's the messed up part: she took her finger and dug into middle of the edge control to make it seem like we did it. I was disgusted. I let her know that it had been used prior to us looking at it and we knew that there was only a fingerprint not a huge chunk taken out of it; so she could pay for it herself. read more

This beauty supply store is the most unwelcoming place I've been to in a while ! I usually go across the parking lot to lucky's beauty supply but i had just left the gym which was right next door. ALL OF THE STAFF have the most disgusting attitudes in the world it is disgraceful. As im opening the glass door this heavy set lady jumps up out of her seat to greet us. Then asks us if we need help, like first off give me a chance to walk in the door before you start hounding me down about what im looking for. As im looking for hair dye, each and every single employee followed us around the store acting like they were "doing something" and kept asking if we needed help as if we were going to steal everything off the shelves. Why should i have to feel pressured when i shop? I never have this issue when going to lucky's .. I STRONGLY advise anyone that wants to go to a beauty supply store, go to luckys or take the trip to freeport and go to sally's. If i could give this place 0 stars I would. These people are a bunch of crocks. Don't spend your money in there. Their stuff is overpriced compared to other places , I purchased a product in their today and used a very small amount of it and suddenly my eyes started to burn me and it disagreed badly with my hair. I immediately returned it 2 hours after purchasing it. The owner and the manager refused to return or exchange the product although I specified how I had an allergic reaction to it. They kept telling me how they have a no - return policy , but you would think they would compensate me somehow being that I had a negative reaction to it and I bought the product after it was recommended to me by the manager who had no clue about my hair type. I would never buy a thing from this store ever again ! More professional Businesses would never do anything like this and customer satisfaction is always guaranteed.
