The food was genuinely excellent, and the service was warm and attentive throughout. The bed was also a standout -- more comfortable than what I've experienced at most four-star hotels. I also loved the in-room Nespresso machine, which was a great touch. The only drawbacks are the location and setting. It's not ideal if you want to be close to a more metropolitan, walkable area, and being right on the creek means there can be quite a few bugs, especially in the evening. Overall, I'd definitely recommend it if you're looking for a relaxing, stylish getaway with great food and very comfortable rooms.

This charming, quaint boutique hotel is located in a residential neighborhood in Round Rock, TX. The Ruby Hotel & Bar is situated along Brushy Creek in historic downtown Round Rock. The hotel has 39 uniquely designed rooms and suites, in the suburbs of Austin, TX. The hotel blends mid-century modern design with natural surroundings, creating a chic vibe. The property is distinctly divided into to major buildings...the hotel and the bar. There is a random small building up front also...not sure what that buildings for. There is also outdoor seating, which would be pleasant in the summer. Last night we had freezing temperatures, so sub-optimal for seating outside. When we entered the bar, we felt transported to another place in time. Retro looking furniture at the entry with finger dialed phones...my nieces and nephews would likely not have any idea what these little machines called telephones were. The bar was a mix of old - building built in the 1960s....new - modern mirrors and bar. There was signage at the front of the bar that stated to seat yourself and place your order from the bar (different set up...for sure). We ordered the hummus plate minus pita bread plus more cucumbers. Alan, our server was very accommodating to make that switch. We had herbal hot tea (chamomile and pomegranate berry). We listened to the 3 person band, who sang music from Johnny Cash to Bob Marley and so many different genres in between. What a lovely evening...date night score!

Located off Anderson Mill in the corner of a strip mall is a bookshelf with a door on the right side. If you cannot figure out the entrance, there is a doorbell to ring as well. I believe it is owned by the same people who own The Mill bar right next door, which makes it feel like a cool bonus space. My friend and I sat next to a faux fireplace, where we were greeted by the only bartender working and placed our order. Once he opened the tab, it was disappointing that he never came back to check if we wanted another drink. It wasn't super busy on the Monday we went, but since he was the only one manning the bar, the bartender was always doing something, so I don't blame him fully for not checking back in with us. I ordered a drink called the Velvet Vice. It looked nothing like the picture and tasted similar to an Aviation cocktail with egg whites. I happened to really like it. It is a very relaxed space, but once the speakeasy gimmick wears off, it does not have much else going for it. It is still a cool place, but I am not sure it was worth the lengthy drive to get there. And, at both breakfasts Amy made me feel especially welcome! The table came with a bottle of water for self-service, which I appreciated. The wine list was of good quality. My server at dinner was able to give me a solid recommendation for one to pair with my salmon. She was dead on with how well it complimented the fish. As for the salmon, it wasn't overly seasoned and was incredibly flaky. It was a good size as well. For breakfast, The Breakfast Plate's eggs were cooked perfectly with appropriately cooked bacon. I enjoyed the potatoes that accompanied it as well. The Buttermilk Pancakes meal was a failure though. The pancakes were gooey inside. My server, Amy, offered to have them remade, but I declined the offer. So I accepted a parfait, which was easily one of the best I've had in Austin. The granola with the berries were perfectly balanced, and the granola wasn't super chunky. Amy was 100% invested in my meal satisfaction. The dining room is quite pretty with lovely set tables. Every time I ate, I felt a tad underdressed! But they don't care if you're comfortably casual, and i saw a family with small children looking very relaxed and vacationy and they were welcome.

This place is family owned which I love about it! On game days they often serve chips or hot dogs along with amazing drinks! It looks like you could stage "Long Day's Journey into Night" there - A four act Eugene O'Neill tragedy that takes place in a loser bar. * * * First impressions are really wrong here. This is a fantastic fun place !!! * * * Everything I said about the decor is true - But then that description applies to dive bars all across Central Texas. What makes this place hum is the bartender. She is a Comet - a Meteor and an Absolute Force of Nature! I never got her name - but I spent all night watching her in action. What a superstar! She mews like a cat! She YOWLS like a cat - and that does not necessarily mean she is unhappy. She keeps a gong that she bangs at random intervals. There is a bell by the door that she can ring if she doesn't feel like going back to the gong. I think she designed most of the shots herself. (I was on a bourbon night - but I am dying of curiosity to try some of her shots.) Nearly everyone who can sits at the bar - and she chats up each and every person. She is in constant action and at any given nanosecond - she can be anywhere in the bar. Her mission in life is to be the hostess with the mostest. And she really IS the hostess with the mostest. I sat at a back table, drank my bourbon, watched TV and watched the bartender at work. Mellow, sleepy, pleasant stuff. The people in front were talking to each other and engaging with the bartender's rapid fire repartee. The barstools could be as mellow or as dynamite as a customer wanted them to be. There are good times to be had here! I wanna go back.

Kids meal was $10, came with fries and 2 chicken tenders, they were thin one of our girls wouldn't eat them, no drink that we know of as no one helps us. The tacos were packed in a tin and were so greasy it ruined the other tortillas. My carne guisada was huge chunks of pure fat. We left after spending $100, tipped 15% because I couldn't bring myself to do less but other than someone running the food to us the did nothing. We did self serve water and the flies were so bad (as to be expected outside) we had to just throw away stuff as we were "done" with it so nothing for them to even clean up. We left disappointed and hungry. I truly do not understand where the 4-5 stars are coming from. Service was non existent, atmosphere was run down and dirty, food was sub par at best. Two stars only because of I was in my mid 20's and looking for a place to watch a UT game it was totally my vibe. But other than the Vision it is a 0-1 star for me. Ugh I'm so sorry :( maybe we just had a bad experience.
