0 stars would be a better rating for this horrific company. They lie on their invoices about what they actually tell the customer & they refuse to stand behind their product. A new a/c unit was put in my house in Aug '16. Coil was faulty. They started coming out to "fix" it the very next month. Still dealing with the same issue in May Technician Joseph is a nightmare & rude. His continuous statement to my frustrated mother living in a hot house in the hottest part of the year is "you're mean". This company purposely sends different technicians to each service call, so we've met several, the only one who proved to be a decent human being is Rob. The manager is awful & it's obvious the disgusting way they treat customers stems from him. Their prices are astronomical as we've gotten many quotes below $400 for a job they want $900 for. So many a/c options in south Florida- avoid Jupiter Tequesta at any cost necessary! I'm happy to send copies of invoices, emails & record of phone calls to anyone who asks, to show what a nightmare this place is Update- we ended up getting a full coil replaced plus more work done that j/t missed (they missed actual holes in the unit) and it was all still cheaper than their quote of replacing one piece. We've gone back & forth with this company multiple times & Natalie actually has the nerve to suggest on Yelp that they'd like to review this issue! They have blown us off & denied so many requests. I have given this company every possible chance. I purchased a brand new AC unit for my condo. The day od installation they were 7 hours late after the installation they came back to re wire and damaged my walls That was Jan 2016 I have had over 7 service calls of untin not working correctly since than. April 14 I was told i need a new motor no AC again for a week. Now May 18 its not working again service call today btwn 10-12 . We have been paying FPL Home Warranty for a year and finally needed a service call. The telephone agents are friendly and helpful and the service requests are handled fairly promptly. You can always get them on the phone. For one of our claims, it was dealt with satisfactorily, and they covered something not in their policy. For that we are grateful. However, the washing machine of our washer-dryer system unit, went bad. I was told by two representatives that repair of the machine would cost more than replacement. So, they gave me the option of a cash payout for half its value or a full replacement. I opted for the full replacement. They sent me a link via email, which I approved. I called a couple of times in the following days and was told it was ordered from Home Depot. I should expect a call for delivery. That call never came. Now, when I talk to FPL Home Warranty reps, they tell me that the claims department will only pay for half of our machine. The problem is, it's one whole unit; it's impossible for me to buy half a machine. I can't cut the machine in half, keep the working dryer and re-attach it to a new half of washer. I keep calling back, but no one will let me discuss this with the claims department. No one will connect me to a manager. Our washing machine is making a racket that is disturbing the neighbors. It must be replaced soon. FPL is still unwilling to repair the washing machine because they say it is too costly. Yet, they expect us to throw away the whole unit with the functional dryer and only pay us for the broken part of the unit. This make no sense. FPL Home Warranty has not honored their promise to replace our machine. They have no commitment to respect the warranty coverage they claim to provide. We are very disappointed. We thought that a large established company like this would be reputable. It appears that we were wrong. In the future we will have to look elsewhere for coverage and cannot recommend them to anyone else. read more

This entity bought out Jupiter Tequesta Air. I always shop local and use local businesses whenever possible. We spent $16k on 3 new A/C units. One unit is now needing its 3rd Coil!!!We overpaid obviously but felt good because the products had a 12 yr part warranty. We also purchased a 12 yr labor agreement which covered EVERYTHING supposedly. The only fee would be a 80$ service call fee. That is NOT the case anymore. FPL is not honoring the agreement by charging a $250 Processing fee. Each time they visited for "preventative maint... which equalled 80/unit" they broke one of them and had to return at least once. I was so angry after their last visit that I said--Never Again!!! Yesterday, our largest unit's coil leaked all over again. I call out a diff company who told me the install was really shoddy work. But--I have to use FPL (who bought out our local co) because I paid $$$$ for a labor warranty which they are now tacking on Processing Fees--- Stay away! I've been fooled. I've been using their maintenance service for a couple of years. The last few times they told us we needed a new AC unit.... my reply "ok, leave your prices." Well this last time the man told us we had a bad unit, MOLD growth, and various other things that were extremely concerning. We panicked! We were ready to buy the 12,000 dollar unit they were trying to sell. My gut told me we needed a second opinion. I made a few calls and asked around and contacted another AC company to get a 2nd opinion. They found zero mold in the unit, only typical dirt and organic growth which is totally normal. I had found this company in the best picks reports guide. Had an A/C company come check out an issue of home air condition not working. The company found that a/c unit did not have enough voltage to have it work properly. Called and told FPL home services this. Tech shows up the next day for a free estimate for replacing the AC WHAT??? never mentioned that. He re-dispatched an electrician as requested. Also called the offic asking for a manager or supervisor to discuss the issues. Was told Maggie would call back in 5 min, she was just finishing up a phone call. Have not heard back from the company. I don't like my time wasted, and I would think the company would want to waste not only my time but their own technicians. Actions speak louder than words, and neither are even close to stellar ... or even acceptable. If I could give 0 stars I would, they have gone completely downhill over the years. We used Jupiter Tequesta AC for servicing our AC unit, and they were great. So when it came time to buy a new AC, we chose them for purchasing the new unit. They had recently been acquired by FPL Home services. The unit they sold us was touted as one of the best and it came with a 10 year parts and labor warranty. It was not the cheapest and we paid extra to maintain a service contract with them as well. In less than one year the unit has stopped working 3 times. Each time, we are told it is a part of some loophole in the service contract or warranty and that we have to pay more to get it fixed or have someone come out for the repair. They sold us a lemon AC unit to keep making money nickle and diming for every repair. Do not recommend, would go elsewhere. read more

My ac stopped blowing cold The unit is 5 yrs old. A tech by the name Sam came and after checking the unit on the roof , said that the motor fell off, this is rusted, that is rusted and it would be almost $2,000 to fix it and I would be better off with a new unit for $4,311 + crane of $250. When I was not receptive he came up with a phrase "today only" - he was offering a $200 discount. I preferred to pay him $89 for the service call and check elsewhere. It paid off. $750!!!! The new people replaced the motor and something else and said it will be fine for another 5 yrs - no need to replace the roof unit, it is in good enough shape. By the way, anybody who hears "today only" will automatically know to look elsewhere (unless a person was born yesterday). read more

I had a new York A/C system installed by Jupiter-Tequesta A/C in November 2018 at a price higher than competitors. Fan was loud & installer did not know how to slow fan speed to quiet it down. Had to have another tech come to adjust. A/C not working a few weeks later part needed to be changed on compressor. 10/25/19 air handler iced up because fan motor went bad. I was told I would be without A/C for 4 or 5 days while they get a fan motor. How could you sell York units & not stock parts. I thought I was buying local & was paying extra for quick service. I had two experiences with this company. First, they came out to give me an estimate for replacing my A/C system (aging system 16-years old). The rep stayed for about an hour and we discussed all issues. The rep promised to provide an estimate within the week. I was never contacted nor was any estimate forthcoming. The second experience was with their plumbing department. My tile subcontractor was kind enough to call and arrange the re-installation of two commodes (wax ring seals) following floor re-tile. The subcontractor explained that I could expect to pay no more than $300 or so because he provided the wax seals and it was a 1 to 1-1/2 hour job. When the JTAC plumber arrived he re-quoted me a house call fee and total cost over $1000 saying "plumbing maintenance is expensive". I called my contractor who had called them to arrange this and he was furious. He suggested I call Inlet Plumbing, which I did. The quote was a total of $275. When he arrived :30 later than the set appointment, he reduced the price by $75 as an apology. So the whole job (including tip was $325 vs. over $1000 it would have cost me with JTAC. Nice try. After the plumbing debacle, I surmise that I was not contacted by them on the quote (or follow-up of any kind) with my A/C because it was obvious to them that I am not a "fool with money" and I refuse to pay higher prices than what's fair and equitable. I see neighbors having to have multiple visits and repeat visits. These service vans really stand out. One of the best ways to choose a company of reliable, high-quality service is to notice HOW OFTEN you see the same company making REPEAT visits. My current A/C unit has been working now for 16 years (knock on wood) without a single trouble call in all these years. I am screening companies now so when the time comes I already know who to call. Bad choices are made when you are sitting in a hot house, mid-summer and "same day service" seems like a good idea at the time. But, at what price? Bill G. read more

My Nest smart thermostat broke and this company was on Nest's approved vendor list. The guy they sent was very nice, but the temporary, non-smart thermostat he wanted to put on until Nest sends my smart replacement was a usurious $250--more than the cost of my smart thermostat! Obviously these go for $50 in the big box store. Apparently this company makes its money by roping people into their service plan; pay their membership fee and the thermostat price becomes normal. Since such membership fees are never economical for the consumer, according to all consumer groups, of course I declined. What a scam. read more

I've had AC service done by FPL in the past, & continually has a new service member each time. It's a rotating door at this company. Last week, the service rep told me I had mold issues in my A/C and the coils were rotting. He told me he could get a replacement unit for $6800, but I would have to "sign the contract" that day, otherwise he couldn't guarantee the price. I told him it's a lot of money & needed to do research. He was a bit annoyed & claimed he would be very concerned about this problem & should be addressed ASAP. I felt extremely pressured & uncomfortable. Needless to say, I have 2 blue UV lights that should be eliminating mold spores, if any. I contacted 2 A/C companies later that day & inspected my unit. Both said I had one of the cleanest units, and there was NO evidence of mold! I called FPL this AM to advise them of their service technician's misinformation, only to find out that the manager would not return my call, & instead, had that same technician that was at my home last week call me. He basically said the other 2 companies didn't know what they were talking about, & seemed upset because I called to report him. You definitely do NOT want to do business with FPL AC. You will not get honest answers - they're only there to sell their products with a significant mark-up! read more

Unfortunately I had similar experiences as the reviewer, Tina, with Jupiter-Tequesta Air Conditioning and Heating, Inc. Further, every time they came for a routine service, they insisted we needed an expensive new service immediately and their estimates were always sky-high. When we needed to replace air conditioners and water heaters, their estimates were generally about double what other local contractors charged. Further, if you called to set up an appointment, you were attended to or called back immediately with a friendly "How can we make you smile?" If you called to question a charge, you never got a callback no matter how many messages you left nor how many times you called. To get a correct invoice on a replacement product for which we paid proved impossible. Further, they pressure you to get a service contract. One of the selling points is that you can cancel at any time if you are unhappy with the service and get a pro-rated refund. However, when you do cancel, they back charge for every service you did in the year and deduct every discount you received from the amount they finally refund. I would not recommend this company to anyone. Their business ethics are highly questionable. read more

Because we are new to the house and the area, we did it. I didn't have a lot of confidence in them and I changed service companies 6 months later. I find this company a little shady. Had an AC unit stop working it was roughly 4 years old. The technician said it was out of warranty and that I would need to replace both the inside and outside units as it was an r22 unit. However I have had issues with AC units before and something just didn't seem right. So I called a different company they came out, the unit was still under warranty for parts all I had to pay for was labor so I selected the other company to do the work. I know that some people make mistakes so I didn't have any issues with them until Recently. I was out of town and a tenant contacted me said the AC unit wasn't working and that he called jupiter Tequesta AC and that the tech said it needed to be replaced because it was just to old. Well I'm guessing the tech never opened the compressor unit as we changed the compressor less than 2 years ago. I stated to the tenant that I wanted a second opinion and I would have another company come out to look at it. 30 minutes later I get call from the tenant and he tells me that the AC unit is working and the repair was 540 bucks. It's seems to me that if any AC unit isn't working with this company there go to answer is just buy a new unit. I don't know about you all but 540 bucks sounds a lot better to me than 5-8 thousand for a new 4 ton AC system. read more

Just had the most amazing service professional at our rental unit. James T came to investigate why our ac unit was leaking. He explained that he had cleared the condensate line and that the unit was low on freon. After attempting to charge it, James showed me why the outside unit was not holding the charge. The AC unit is 11 years old and the condenser was leaking. James showed me what was going on, where the damage was and explained the options of fixing versus replacing the unit. Sure did we want to buy an a AC unit? Not really, however I felt confident that this was right decision and cost effective for the future. James informed me about different AC units, rebates, service warranties and pricing. James is a young man, with professionalism and maturity beyond his years. Soft spoken, intelligent and doing his job with great pride. He spoke highly of the company he works for which made me feel even better about doing business with Jupiter Tequesta AC. The lady who rents this unit was also so pleased and surprised by the level of professionalism of James. We have used this company before and continue to be amazed by their service professionals. Not to mention they have 24 hour service and also deal with electrical and plumbing issues. I'm a fan! read more

I've seen this truck in our community a lot lately. Apparently, everybody is having appliance issues, whether it's an air conditioner or water heater... We had a leak under our kitchen sink and I thought we'd give them a try. I went online and requested service because it was late and I figured I'd call for an appt in the morning. They called me back within 30 minutes and had me scheduled for the next day. Joey M was great. He arrived within 30 minutes of the window I was given and gave a quote for service. My reason for 3 stars is because of price. This place is great, but expensive. We had toilets that kept running and the repair charge was 150 each. I'm not handy enough to fix them myself, but I know the parts are not that expensive at all and the repair didn't take very long. Joey repaired the leaky sink and a few other things as well, and the bill was around $800. Still, I'd maybe use this company again because of Joey's service and because their hours are really convenient. I have to edit my review after needing more repairs and feeling like I was overcharged and swindled a little. One of the repaired toilets is still running and I had to get the sink replaced completely. I didn't use this company for these new repairs. I decided to try another local Jupiter company and was happier with the service and price. In a pinch, I might use Jupiter Tequesta again. They are always open, and that's really helpful, but I'm not a fan of having to join a club to get plumbing services. I'm also not a fan of paying for replacements on things that were working prior to a repair. read more

This was the most ridiculous quote I ever got. For this work description, they wanted to charge us $700 for about 1 hour of work!!!!!! At the Home Depot, toilet rebuild kit is $20. These people are crocks! I ended up paying $89 for the technician that just came and gave the quote. "Client has three toilets making noises. In the master the fill valve will not shut off all the way and suggest to replace the fill valve to correct issue. In the upstairs guest bath, fill valve is having an issue and suggest rebuilding toilet by the detierating washers, when touched they fall apart and can cause a potential flood. And in the powder, suggesting a total rebuild also due to the detierating washers and gaskets." read more

My A/C went out on a Wednesday evening. Called JTCA on Thursday morning. They told me they'd be out between 4-6. The tech arrived just before 5pm. Before he even came into my home he protected his feet from tracking dirt. Looked at my system and took care of the problem within a few minutes. Tech was very friendly and efficient. My air went out last week and didn't know until I came home from work at 5pm. I called JT Air and they sent Taylor to my house within two hours :) When Taylor came to the door he was extremely polite and put shoe protectors on before he entered my home (loved that). They promised the world when we bought our generator through FPL/tequesta and over a year and a half later we are still waiting. Communication sucks and no one ever has any answers when called. I would NEVER, EVER recommend them I was under service contract with them for over 2 years, bought almost $2,000 dollars worth of A/C related parts/upgrades to my A/C system. When I 1st hired them, they were good, over the past year/year and a 1/2, they have badly declined. The most rece nt issue s that I had 1 of my air handlers freeze up and scheduled a tech to come out. He came out and could not find a coolant leak but claimed to put in a pound of coolant and gave me a bill for $265 dollars. That is/was against the law. He was supposed to explain what was determined to be the problem and cost to repair. That never happened. I didn't want a problem on the spot so I paid the bill and callled the next day and filed a complaint. I was told that that's not how they do business and offered a full refund. I responded by saying, "no, the technician did become out, the A/C was working, how about we split the charge?" I was told okay. So far, there was no problem but here's where it all headed downhill. I was told there was an new accounting/billing system but I would receive a refund check in about a week. Well, 3 weeks went by and still no check. On several occasions, I called and was transferred to a voice mail and no one, EVER returned my call. I filed a complaint with the BBB and only after I (finally) got my check did they respond to THAT complaint. No one ever called and said they were sorry, what they could do to keep me as a customer, NOTHING of that sort. They could have cared LESS that I was disappointed. I called to cancel my contract, was told they would e-mail me a form to fill out and send back which they did. Was also told that it could take up to a month to get a respond. 35 days later, I got the refund check. No phone call, no e-mail, no apologies, just the refund which I called & called & called and waited almost 2 months for. DO NOT HIRE!!! There are other companies that will appreciate your business...this is not one of them. read more
