I agreed, expecting that the issue with the warning light would be resolved. When I picked up the car, the low oil light was still on. When I asked about it, the owner claimed that wasn't the reason I brought the car in -- which makes little sense, since the light was what prompted me to bring it in. Later, when I returned with my father to ask about the repair and see the old part, the conversation quickly turned hostile. Instead of explaining why the light remained on, the owner became defensive, accused me of name-calling (which I did not do), and even threatened to call the police while acting like a bully. It was an uncomfortable and intimidating experience. In his written response to my review, the owner repeated that he only replaced the oil pan because that's what we authorized. A professional shop would have acknowledged that the oil light would remain on unless additional issues were addressed before charging you $1,300. That type of honesty and communication is what customers expect. Instead, I left $1,300 poorer, still with the oil light on, and treated rudely when I asked questions. these people are weasels, I went there for a inspection sticker and the meatball who does the stickers has the dope who works the register do the talking so you know it's a scam every thing is fine on the machine but supposedly have a stuck caliper and exhaust leak . and of course the dope offers to throw it on the lift for you but can't tell you we're the exhaust leak is or what brake caliper is sticking. I cant say enough kind things about Joe at Framingham Auto. I was about to make a long drive towing a Uhaul when I noticed my truck was making a strange sound. My regular mechanic was closed on Saturday, so I desperately stopped at Framingham Auto, as it was the nearest thing I could find that was open. There I met my new guardian angel Joe. He dropped what he was doing, hopped in my truck and drove me arould for a bit to identify and diagnose the sound I was hearing. He then showed me the problem, but assured me the truck was fine to drive on the trip. He even gave me his cell phone in case I had any issues!! im the one with the 1987 Toyota Tercel and they fixed it as I hoped. I was overall happy with the results. The newer used engine, it eventually needed, came from Albany, NY. I am a huge fan of NY partly because i knew someone from there i was romantically involved with and was originally planning to drive them in this car had they come to visit me. I got four tires and oil change and it cost me almost $900. The markup on the tires was almost double. The oil change was above the average rate. In addition to that they try to convince me to get new struts which would cost another $800 to $900. I would've paid less at the dealership, so much for giving business to small mechanics. read more

Went in for a state inspection. They said my brakes weren't good and that it would not pass inspection. They quoted me a cost of $1,200 to fix the brakes. Tried to scare me into doing the repairs...talked about the risk of driving around with a red R inspection sticker. Didn't take the bait and brought it to a place I explicitly trust. The place I brought it A) didn't think the brake issue should have caused the failed inspection and B) charged me less than $400 to fix the rear brakes. I usually don't write negative reviews, particularly for a local shop like this, but heed the warnings! Do not bring your car to this place...even for a state inspection! Summary: They lied about my rear brakes needing to be replaced and provided no paperwork, measurements, etc. after the routine maintenance. Details: I hesitated to write this review as I know many small businesses are struggling since March 2020. However, the deceit I encountered here was abhorrent. My only conclusion is that they assumed they could make some easy extra money, because I'm a young woman. I can do my own oil change, but I was about to move out of state. I didn't have the energy or time to do it myself and half my things were in boxes. They are walking distance from my apartment, so I take it to them for an oil change within half an hour of when I call to setup appointment. Great, I thought. How convenient. They tell me to wait and that the routine maintenance won't take too long. They come out later and say my rear brake pads need to be replaced and quote me an additional $400. They add that they have all the parts for it and can get it done right now. Odd. They don't give me depth measurements and I'm pretty sure they were fine when I last checked. I politely decline. A different mechanic was walking by when I was talking to the one primarily looking at my car when he hears me mention I'm moving out of state soon. This other mechanic laughs and says, "With those brake pads?" Odd again. I assure them that it will be fine for the 4 hour drive next week and that my partner and I will check it out after the move. I pay them for the routine maintenance and they provide no information or paperwork on what they did, what oil they used, cost of labor/parts, etc. Anyway, my partner and I measure each brake pad of all four tires 3 weeks after their inspection. Rear pads were at 6mm! For my car specifically: New stock is around 11mm. Minimum is 1mm and replacements typically happen at 2-3mm. I was right to trust my intuition that their behavior and lack of details/information was sketchy. I understand times are tough for everyone, but this is unacceptable. I am out of MA now, but wanted to warn everyone still in the area to stay away until they decide to conduct honest business. read more

I feel it's absolutely necessary for the community and it's about time to best describe about the shop and give a proper evaluation of this automotive services for our communities. Well, the gas price here is still competitive in the market and I often stop by to buy gas here. However, based on my experience of getting repair services have received here for the last year, I feel that they not only cheat customers but also they lack enough technical skills to do sound repair jobs. My experiences tell me that: 1. The services men do not have top notch qualification to fix the car: they would often misdiagnose.2. Improper ways of handling customers: The guy at the cash register would often call customer "pal." 3. They try very hard to cut short of time to repair leading to sloppy repair job that would lead to getting it repair again in a different shop. 4. They would rip off. Yes, based on my evaluation, they do not have consistent rate; rate per hour are applied discreetly to customers, and their rate can run up as high as $250/hr. In other word, this is not honest place. Conclusion: This shop should be in the list of worst car repair shops in the town; their level of courteous manners are bipolar and they would cheat consistently. I agree with James P's post. I went in three weeks ago, and my car was brought in. They pretended that the repair was being made, only to bring the car out, claim that they couldn't do it [after 30-minutes] and forced me to pay a fee, a "diagnostic fee." They claimed that if I was able to repair it somewhere else, they would give me half my money back. The deceit is what was bothersome, that one guy would come out and say, "We're wrapping everything up right now." This is a strange review, but worth noting.... My alternator went a couple weeks ago, and I had the tow truck leave it here at Framingham Automotive. Oudi diagnosed it and confirmed it needed a new alternator and a new battery, and quoted me a price much cheaper than the dealership. Due to some other issues, I was fighting to get it covered by warranty, which it ultimately was. All that said, Oudi was not bothered at all to have the car on his lot even if he wouldn't ultimately get the work, and was willing to run-out, power-up the car and pass along certain info from the dash for me over the phone. He even went so far as to power it up so the trunk could be opened, and moved Christmas gifts from the trunk to the backseat for me so I could come pick them up one night. He's a good dude, and one I will absolutely be using next time I need a car fixed.... read more

This week I went to Framingham Automotive to get my car inspected since I had gone there last year and had a good experience. I get gas there regularly as i live nearby. This time I was told that i needed all new brakes right away and that my emergency brake was "shot" and because of that the car would not pass inspection. I was very surprised as I remembered doing my brakes not that long ago. I was asked if i have a mechanic and luckily i said that i did for when i took it to my mechanic he told me my brakes were fine (they had been done in Feb. 2020) and that e-brake was fine also. I see on Yelp that several people have had the same terrible experience at Framingham Automotive over the past few months and there were numerous complaints about their automotive service. I have never filed a negative review before but I worry about people who might be vulnerable to their lies. From now on my husband and I will be taking our business elsewhere. read more

I brought my car to repair the AC, which cost me $920. We picked it up and a couple of days later, some part inside of the car fell off. Turned out they broke a part while working on AC and it was just sort of "sitting" there, which, of course, they didn't mention at all. Then, we found more damages, like very bad scratches everywhere on the driver side. They also left so many dirty hand prints and oil marks everywhere in my car.... AC was fixed, but they damaged quite badly inside of my car, which shouldn't have happened if they have a proper tool to work with... I used to go here for gas and repairs all the time as it's very close from my house. It was a nice garage before with the previous owner, who was very honest and skilled. it was OK after a while, but recently it got really worse somehow. Great service! I had a Toyota Echo that I would get my oil changed there regularly. I got into an accident and they offered to find me a good replacement. The guy who owns it, Elli, is a fantastic guy and I'm a skeptic of all mechanics to begin with. With my new car his mechanics replaced the timing belt and the car is like new. I love these guys :) being a girl i sometimes worry about being duped into getting service i don't need. Never the case here. just brought it in to have breaks replaced- they checked out the car and said the breaks look just fine , front and back! asked them to change my spark plugs- told me those look pretty good as well!!! so they could have taken me for a few hundred $$ but didn't..and i appreciate it :) and guess where i will be going when i need my breaks and sparks...you guessed it. to these guys. i always get my oil changes there and their gas is normally the cheapest in the area. and ill find a good use for those few hundred bucks i was sadly prepared to spend. I have gone to Framingham Automotive for gas and inspection stickers for years, but a recent experience has led me to write a review because I was so impressed. While I was out running errands I decided to get my oil changed and a tire rotation as a local Jiffy Lube. Big mistake! As I continued with my errands I started to hear a loud thumping noise coming from the front end of my car. The noise was getting worse the further I drove, so instead of turning around I pulled into Framingham Auto, which was on my way home. I told them the story, and when the guy test drove my car he immediately heard the same noise. He put the car on the lift and checked out my tires. He discovered that Jiffy Lube had neglected to tighten the lugs on one of my wheels and it had been about to fall off! He tightened the lugs and also checked out the rest of my car's front end to make sure it was safe to drive. After all that -- he didn't charge me a dime! I have since had my brakes worked on at Framingham Auto and also had a great experience. The mechanics are easy to talk to, honest, and the prices are fair. I will definitely stick with Framingham Automotive for all my future car maintenance needs! read more
