Thank you for helping me see again!

Everyone here is amazing! Friendly and professional. I have taken my animals here since 2009. Dr. Burger takes pride in her work and it shows. I would highly recommend them!

Dr. Burger and her team are wonderful. Charlie, our German Shepherd, isn't always an easy patient. But Dr. Burger and all of the vet techs meet him with grace and professionalism. They take their time and listen to all of our concerns. They make themselves available to you in and outside of the hospital. The hospital is small and has a small town feel despite being in the metro area which is great. Choosing a vet is a big decision and shouldn't be taken lightly. I am really glad I chose Francis Vet Hospital!!

I really love this place. Everyone is nice, the vet I spoke with took time to explain my cat's conditions in great detail and they're all knowledgeable. You can tell they love animals. The prices are fair - and I came from another vet for a second opinion and quote for my cats teeth - Francis vet sounded so much more sure about the protocols AND they quoted much less than my original vet (who I was moving on from regardless of their high prices). I'll be keeping Francis Vet as our vet from now on!

Getting an appointment was never easy and then front desk staff was typically quite rude. There were numerous communication breakdowns involving this rude desk staff. The most memorable of these was when a vet told me to come in for a follow up of some sort and put me on her schedule for a quick visit between patients. I checked in at the desk for this visit, they told me to sit down, and I waited there with my dog for what seemed like forever. When I was the only one left in the waiting room, a tech came to the desk and asked the receptionist who I was there to see. She said right in front of me, "I have no idea what she's doing here or who she is." I explained it to the tech and was eventually seen. My dog started having some issues with waking in the middle of the night with what seemed like pain or anxiety. Dr. Garms dismissed this as him being old and having canine dementia. Thank God I took him to another vet practice. The vet immediately suspected an adrenal tumor simply by palpating his abdomen. This was confirmed by an ultrasound. We were able to manage his symptoms for another year or so. Why am I leaving this review now? This greedy practice has for some reason started emailing me repeatedly with my dear deceased dog's name in the subject line. I haven't been to this place in 6 years. I've tried to unsubscribe but to no avail. I don't recommend this place.

A HUGE shout out to Dr. Garms and this practice…read more My Schnoodle has been a patient of Dr. Garms since 2017. She is, by far, the most compassionate veterinarian I have ever known. Recently Morgan's appetite diminished and he would not eat his favorite fruits, veggies and kibble. After he stopped eating all together, about 8 days ago, I tried feeding him chicken and rice. Initially, he loved it but stopped eating this. Last Saturday, 7/8/23, I called and left a message. Dr. Garms called and suggested a few things of which I tried, Morgan was still not eating much. I called on the following Monday, Dr. Garms was off and Sabrina suggested baby food and since they were booked on Tuesday, she asked that I drop Morgan off on Tuesday morning for observation and lab work. I picked him up Tuesday evening and was asked to bring him back Wednesday morning and plan on leaving him and going over his blood work results. Tuesday evening he still did not eat anything and sipped a little water. When I returned on Wednesday with Morgan, Dr. Garms entered and I knew immediately that the news was not going to be good. Morgan was in both renal and liver failure and his numbers were so far off the scale, there was not much that they could do other than palliative treatment. I looked at his listless body and made that dreaded decision to euthanize him. Since friends had shared their recommendations for in-home euthanizing I contacted 2 of these vets and neither had anything available that day or the next. I did not want Morgan to pass away on a metal table or in a strange environment, Dr. Garms offered to come to my home that evening around 7. The process, of course, was difficult for the both of us (we were both crying when he slipped away) she was incredible, comforting me. She took his body back to her practice and indicated that she will take care of everything including arranging for his ashes to be returned to me. Dr. Garms is not only a very capable clinician, she is the most compassionate vet I have known.

We had horses and they used to do the best job. Great vets! I no longer have horses but I still take my dogs. They all have been coming here as puppies. My dogs are now 13 and 15 years old. They also helped a few of our other dogs and horses cross the rainbow bridge. They were very caring and helpful at this time. Recently from my past visits, They have misdiagnosed my dogs with any issues they have had, and they have been very vague about what was going on with them. I recently went in because my dog is limping. She was able to put a little bit of pressure on her front right paw. Now she is carrying it high and is walking as if she has no lag. Unfortunately, it was when we left the vet I noticed when they brought her back from the x-rays. When they did X-rays. She seemed to be worse when we got home. She is very anxious dog for being 13 and is very fearful whenever we go to the vet. They must have moved her in such a way that it worsened her injury. They did not sedate her or make her calm in any way. When they were done doing the X-rays I noticed her limp got even worse than when I took her in. They dismissed me gave me some painkillers And told me they could do acupuncture on her, to make an appointment. They told me that it was arthritis. I already knew my dog had arthritis she is 13 years of age. I went to a different vet because Golden did not help her and found out that she had a torn muscle under her armpit. The injury is caused because the shoulder was pulled away from the body in a way that a dog does not move their leg. I trusted Golden, I trusted their care All the new vets that are in there now for small animals are doing a terrible job. I don't recognize half the staff that used to take care of my bogs. They have had new vets in and out for the past 7 years. I am foolish for continuing to go here thinking it would get better. This is not the first time this has happened. They have increased their prices which I understand. What I don't understand is why I'm getting charged so much when they have no idea what's going on with my dog and are not performing the Exams properly or to the best of their knowledge. I am now at my last line and that is why I am writing this review. Do not take your dogs, cats, Or any small animals to this vet clinic. They do not care they have shown me that for the past seven years. They will, Overcharge you and they will not do what they say. They do not care about your animal only to get them in and out as fast as they can. I miss the old days here when they cared when the Father of this business was around and I saw his son take over when he passed. I am unsure who owns it now. What I do know is they don't seem to care anymore. Don't take your small animals here.

After calling nine different vets in the Denver area and none of them would take us, I found this incredible veterinary hospital. The staff got us in right away and was so kind when I was so worried. They had incredible Covid protocol: We called them upon arrival and they told us which door to come in to place the dog. Then a few minutes later Dr. Steven Batch called us after observing our pup. He spent over 20 minutes on the phone with us going over what he felt was the problem and all the options that we had. He was kind, considerate, and incredibly detailed so we could understand, everything. Honestly he is a great vet. When our dog was ready they called us back to the same door to pick up our healthy pup. I'm super grateful that I found this wonderful veterinary hospital and can't say enough great things about them!!

There's no telling how much I have paid for my pets' care, but that's besides the point. I brought in my small Jack Russell to be treated for minor symptoms ( she was in heat and wanted to get her spayed). I had taken her to emergency care the previous day, and they prescribed her trazodone for anxiety. When I followed up with Mesa, the vet, Shelby Stephens DVM, suggested a series of tests, and I followed her advice. Cost wasn't an issue. But it came to light that this is an EXTREMELY COMMON SYMPTOM of small female dogs in heat. I was presented with a bill of $292, and told to continue to give her trazodone as prescribed. There were no services or test results provided at the time or after. When it was time to check out, I didn't have my wallet. This really worried me, as I had just returned from the dentist and knew I had it then. I had gone home afterwards to change clothes and pick up my wife and dog. I was extremely worried where my wallet was! I told the front desk at Mesa that I would call them and pay over the phone, or return with payment. The tech person (not the actual vet) said that my wife and dog would need to stay there until payment was received. Basically, they demanded human collateral. I was none too pleased, given that I had spent well over $50, 000 at this clinic since 1985. But I returned home, luckily found the wallet, and returned home, and paid the bill in full. I also decided I was not going to back to Mesa vet under any circumstances. THIS IS THE IMPORTANT PART. I requested vet records for my new vet, and included in these records were the " testimony" from a vet tech saying that I accused him of " touching my pet wrong". I HAD NO IDEA THAT MY PET'S MEDICAL HISTORY INCLUDED LIES FROM A VET TECH. the full page he wrote covering his ass, and the vet, Shelby Stephens, signed off on this record. They knew it was false. They were covering their asses, but being untruthful. To me, that's as unscrupulous as it gets. It was the tech who demanded my wife & agitated dog wait until I returned with payment. I only discovered this when my new vet informed me. This business has lost it's heart & soul; they simply want your money, and will gouge you at every opportunity. The owners, DR. Steven Batch & Dr. Rachwal, are retired, and cannot be contacted. They ran a solid operation. Stay away from this cooperate run vet. They can't be trusted with your pet or even to tell a simple truth. I am just trying to take care of my dogs and pets, but I am not alone in discovering what a terrible business MESA VET has become. THEY CARE FAR MORE ABOUT PROFITS THAN YOUR ANIMALS. 7/10/29 response to Mesa Veterinarian Clinic: Mesa Vet simply will NOT accept responsibility for anything under any circumstances. One of the new owners, Christine Horst, responded to my review & doubled down on her idea that her business did nothing wrong. Chistine's legalese and false sincerity are disconcerting, but expected given her corporate mentality towards animal welfare. This is a trivial issue, and I can only imagine how defensive they become over major ones. I've never owned a female dog before this one, and sincerely needed advice on how to deal with premenstrual issues; that was all. I agreed to the test they recommended, and whatever else they felt was necessary. It turned out that the tests were unnecessary, and Mesa most likely knew that, having experience with dogs in heat (this was confirmed by two different vets who stated these were VERY common/ normal symptoms). Regardless, stating that my "companion (my wife) voluntarily offered to remain at the hospital while payment was retrieved; she was not required to do so" is patently FALSE. The 20 year old vet tech stated she (my wife) would need to stay there until payment was rendered. This same vet tech's comments (that you included in my pet's medical records) say that I accused him of "touching my pet wrong". Once again, this is preposterous. In addition to a misdiagnosis, they also failed to notify me of an very important one; degenerative gum disease. Mesa was the only vet to ever see the dog, and while she's only 3, she needed dental treatment. They gave us a toothbrush, and we explained she already had one and used it weekly. If they'd done the job we trusted them with, this would have been an overt and obvious health concern. The dog recently needed to have 12 teeth pulled, a mere seven months after we placed our trust in their offices. I have no idea how they missed that! If they hadn't demanded my wife and sick dog remain in their offices, we'd have continued to trust them. Cost isn't an issue for my pet's health, but trust certainly is. Christine Hurst's platitudes and false statements confirm my belief that I was wise to seek another vet.
