I took my cat here for a checkup and had a really great experience! The vet took her to the back for an exam/rabies shot, which is unusual, but I imagine this is because the vet doesn't want your pet to associate you with discomfort. It was also calming for me since I didn't have to see my baby in pain. The office itself was clean with no foul pet odor, which provided a great impression. We were also able to wait in the car until it was my cat's turn, which minimized her anxiety and discomfort. The vet came in after the exam to explain her health and to answer questions. The service was extremely professional, and I felt well taken care of! Staff called me in the next day to make sure that there were no additional questions or concerns. I took my dog in for an evaluation for neutering. The front desk people were prompt and helpful. I was taken to an exam room with my dog. The assistant asked the usual questions and I shared a few concerns about his behavior and health. She then said she would take my dog to another room to be examined by the vet and I was to remain here. I was a bit surprised because in my 30-years of owning dogs, I had always been in the room for the exam. Maybe this is a new thing with vets. After a bit, the vet came in to talk with me and we discussed my dog's scenario and needs. She said they would email the estimate, which also seemed a little odd. I can't say enough about this amazing clinic. Today we literally though we were going to have to put our sweet girl down. She's been to the ER last night and then worsened over night. We had an appointment with Dr. S this morning at 9:30. We called an they said we will Squeeze you just get here. They took there time with her and we found out she had experienced a neurological event. Dr. S came in said stop Worrying we've got this and she's going home with you. This is hands down the best vet in CO and probably the country. I started with them in 2015 when I lived close and someone recommended them. I moved 2 HOURS away in 2019, and 6 mo later my dog had a major problem. So much so I went to vets around my new home however went back to Legacy for a 2nd opinion. Since then, they have been my only vet. My dog had an extremely aggressive cancer, and they got him through, not only that EVERYONE employed there knew his name every time we walked through the door. When you are going through something like that, the little things like knowing his name at the door make a huge difference. As of 9/18/22, 26 hours after being examined and treated by Dr. Kaveh Sarhangpour my cat was dead. After researching the medication he injected her with, the side effects, as research shows he should not have given this treatment to animals with thyroid conditions. He injected her without any precaution or side effects that would give her a blood clot in her heart. Monday morning he called apologizing for my cat's death with no explanation for her death. Over a month ago, I brought my cat into Legacy. As my previous Vet's office had closed, I needed to find another Vet quickly. I was impressed with the return calls/text reminders of the upcoming appt. My cat did have a UTI after tests were done. Upon returning for the follow up/second appt., rec'd medication(Amoxicillin) to administer. I called in three days later to let them know of her condition. I left a message. I never got a follow up call, a month has gone by. Decided to call to get a refill for Gabapentin, as I requested this on the first appt. over 2 months ago. Today , I picked up the refill. We used Legacy Vet for over 4 years before switching vets due to recent issues we've had with them. Our 10 yr old dog developed a severe limp several months ago. After bringing him in, they did an x-ray and said it looks like arthritis. Their only suggestion was steroids which we hesitated to start because steroids are not a great long term solution and come with numerous side effects. We left saddened, thinking our dog would spend his remaining days (which could still be years) limping horribly. A month later we scheduled an appointment with another local vet that offered several options Legacy never mentioned, including laser therapy. On our first visit, the new vet examined our dog's leg and immediately said, "Yep, most likely an ACL tear." We were surprised, but the vet then stunned us by saying, "Well, yeah, when we got your dog's medical records from Legacy, it said in their notes it was possibly an ACL tear." My wife and I were floored as Legacy never mentioned this at all. Had we been told this, we absolutely would have followed up with more exams to see if that was the case. The new vet even said the old records noted that a sedated x-ray, where our dog would be laying more still and easier to scan, might conclusively show it was an ACL tear. The next day I called Legacy and the receptionist actually opened the records and said the notes claim we were told this. False, we 100% were not told this. My wife and I have since spent a long time debating if there was any possible way Legacy actually mentioned this and we still missed it, but we just don't see how that could've happened. We were both in the room and listening the whole time, it just doesn't make since that they say they told us this. Cut to 2 months later, our dog had surgery at the new vets and is healing amazingly. But there's more. Years ago when we first saw Legacy, during a check-up we mentioned how our dog had chewed the fur off the end of his tail, like it was itchy all the time, and has always been a super low energy dog and they really didn't offer any great explanation to us. We had just moved to Colorado and assumed it was due to the dry climate. They didn't have any explanation other than saying maybe it was allergies and we just thought, oh well. Our new vet heard this as well and immediately said it was likely low thyroid levels. We tested his levels and sure enough they were very low. He's been on thyroid meds for only a month now and his fur is growing back and his energy level has gone way up. He's like a new dog in all the best ways. We never had any problem with Legacy before this summer and the staff were always polite and friendly enough, however we feel these two recent issues alone warranted us seeking out a new vet. Perhaps having a low thyroid level isn't common enough for the average vet to know enough about, but the ACL omission is fairly unforgivable, in our opinion. read more

My experience at Legacy Veterinary Clinic has only involved Dr. Courtney Canepa, so my comments reflect my interactions with her, and of course the staff. I have had dogs all my life, and lived in a number of cities. Dr. Canepa is clearly the best Vet I've ever dealt with. I start with her genuine interest in my dogs. I always feel like I'm talking with a friend, not a clinician. Her ability to communicate clearly about complicated issues is very impressive. We've have had a number of dog problems over the years, and Dr. Canepa has been invaluable not only with solving the issues, but helping me understand them. My dogs are in their advanced years, and letting a dog go is a very traumatic event for anyone. Dr. Canepa has helped me approached the issues of losing a dog, and knowing when your goal of making every effort to give them a happy and healthy life is no longer achievable. I am comforted knowing that Dr. Canepa will help me thru that experience. 5 Stars to Dr. Courtney Canepa, and whoever was smart enough to hire her. read more

I don't normally give bad reviews, but the experience I had here was negative enough that I felt other cat owners should know about it. The stellar reviews at this clinic seem to be mainly for dogs so they might just be more sympathetic towards canines than felines. I don't really know. Here is what happened: My cat was having what I thought were GI/anal issues. He was clearly in pain and when the vet started working with him he grabbed him by the scruff of his neck and quickly flipped him over. My cat, normally pretty amiable, complained immediately. It sorta felt like the vet viewed him as livestock. I am aware that seeing that many animals might deaden someone to the point where treating someone's pet like that IN FRONT OF THEM might seem okay and I tried to ignore how upsetting that was since we had bigger fish to fry. They took him to the back to do a rectal exam. My cat was screaming so loudly I thought they were killing him. I almost tried to go into the back to stop it, but found a nurse and she went back on my behalf to ask the doctor what was going on. They were "expressing his anal glands" apparently. Then they sedated him because they were worried about someone getting hurt. Then they did an x-ray. They sent me home with stool softeners and a $500 bill. My cat had two large puncture wounds right next to his anus. They COMPLETELY missed this. Granted, I didn't notice until they were infected and my cat had licked off all the fur on his hind quarters, but I also didn't sedate him, do a rectal exam, and an x-ray. You'd think the experts would have noticed this. I had to take him to the emergency vet in Wheatridge and spend additional money actually taking care of the real issue. TLDR: doctor isn't super great with cats. Just go somewhere else. read more

Dr.Matthew Khorsand at Legacy was very kind, compassionate and knowledgeable in the care of my senior dog who has cancer. He offered options and advice, but was not pushy about anything. I greatly appreciated that they allowed me into the room with my dog to see the vet - some clinics are still not doing that, and it was very important to me to be able to be there for comfort to my dog as well as to be able to freely discuss her condition and options with the vet during the exam. Another plus was that masks were optional. I was able to get an available appointment the same day, the office staff were responsive and friendly, and I liked the follow-up with emailed appointment information and invoices. read more

I have never left a negative review in my entire life. I feel so scammed by this business and the incompetent vet I have to leave a review to protect others. I brought my cat in because I thought maybe she had an eye infection. Next thing you know they take my cat to a separate room where I can't see the examination and they come back and saying she has stomach pain and recommend surgery and basically I need to give them $3,500. What?!! The vet told me my cat had metal in her stomach. Next day when I complained about feeling taken advantage of, they now say the cat has plastic in her stomach....big difference! They never suggested having the cat try and poop it out (sorry for the language) or vomit....nope they wanted to do surgery and my $3,500. And I couldn't even see the exam to see how my cat reacted. I didn't bring her in for a stomach issue, it was an eye issue. Of course with the eye they needed a scratch text, pain medicine, anti-inflammatory and all this stuff. I declined to do this when my cat's eye didn't really seem too bad at all. Again, I thought maybe a little infection and anticipated antibiotics. Long story, less than 5 hours after coming home from the vet, eye is fine without medicine, her bowel movements are fine...I have no idea what they were talking about with pain. None. Just they wouldn't let me see the examination but they wanted my $3,500! Never go to this place! Scam you money wise and incompetent vets. I'm one inch from reporting them to the BBB. read more

We were greeted by a very nice receptionist. Our boarder collie Dexter needed a new vet. He is overweight and was due for his vaccinations to attend daycare. Our Dr was excellent! This vet is most effective for routine vaccinations and basic physical exams. People are nice and the facilities are always clean. I would not trust them with any type of case that required a diagnosis or ongoing care - both from the medical standpoint as well as their ability to be truthful and forthright with the information as they see it. Advice to Vet(s) and Management - - Be honest - present the facts and findings. Explain what your recommendations are and then share pricing. By not sharing the actual facts, making assumptions about what I could afford, and not stressing the severity of the situation, my dog's condition (cancer in this case) was left untreated and I wasn't able to give him any type of pain management in the interim. I will never know what could have been done. - Train your staff more thoroughly and use patient files. On numerous occasions I was asked about the medications my dog was taking and what procedures had been done. If this was to confirm I was understanding the process, the look of confusion on the tech's face didn't indicate that. This was a waste of time on both sides and strips your team of authority or confidence with the patient/owner. - Make referrals - the minute you realized you weren't the vet team/facility that could help me, you should have stressed the urgency and made a referral to a vet that could help. I was months behind and the only vet, CSU, that could help me had a month's wait list before I could get him in. When I called they had no record of a referral and knew nothing of my dog's situation. If referrals in the traditional sense don't exist in the veterinary world - be honest and explain what does. Although my feelings matter, I need to know accurate details in order to provide the best care possible for my dog. Background context: 6 months ago, my dog presented signs of a bladder infection, kidney stone, a swollen prostate or similar. At that time they ran blood tests and took ultrasounds of his bladder, at my request. THe vet did not perform a full physical exam, which would have included a rectal inspection and show the prostate was in fact enlarged. Instead, my dog was prescribed antibiotics. Those didn't work and when I returned I explained the symptoms again - was asked what medications he was taking and how much - and then shared that these symptoms were very consistent with that of a swollen prostate in humans. The different vet then had to validate a rectal inspection had not been done and proceeded to do so and thus confirmed in seconds it was in fact the prostate, not the bladder where there was a problem. I was prescribed different antibiotics, prednisone and we did several ultrasounds to examine the prostate. read more

After searching for a permanent vet for 2 years, I finally found one!! The wonderful staff at Legacy Vet Clinic are caring, professional, and actually know how to care for pets. When I first moved to Colorado, I went to VCA Thornton and after a few visits with them, they diagnosed my cat with bladder stones. I went to a vet in south Denver for an X-ray and a for a second opinion. They informed me he didn't have stones but I didn't want to call his vet my official vet. The place was very affordable but kind of dirty and located in a house on Colfax. A few months went by and after searching for a vet on Yelp, Google, and Facebook, I found Legacy!! My boyfriend and I made an appointment for our cat to get his teeth checked. The wonderful vet suggested a dental cleaning which had me worried. In order to clean his teeth, they have to put him under. They explained that they do everything to minimize the risk of putting him under. They do full blood work in house, x-ray all teeth, and will only extract teeth if necessary. They even offered to do an ultrasound of my cats bladder to finally calm all my nerves on any possible bladder stones. After they explained the procedure, they even offered us a tour!!! I've never had a vet show us the entire building. The building was very clean and professional. I really liked that they do blood work in house vs sending it to someone else. I decided to schedule a dental cleaning and ultrasound a week later. When I arrived for the dental cleaning, the staff was very friendly and explained what they would be doing. They made sure to call me before, during, and after his cleaning. They even said I could call as much as I wanted. Which I did because I was worried about my kitty going under. Once they were done they called to say he was done and that I could pick him up after 5 so they could monitor him as he woke up. Once I arrived to pick my kitty up, they had the vet tech explain everything they did (2 extractions) and explained the at home care for the next few days. The vet then followed up to explain what was wrong with my kitties teeth and said his bladder was perfectly fine. No stones!! I highly recommend this vet to anyone looking for a permanent vet. Dr. Canepa, Laura, Chantel (sorry if I misspelled names or missed anyone) stepped in and took care of my baby for a couple of days. Dr. Canepa, who has taken care of Malia for the last 3 years, was so wonderful and not only took care of Malia, but also me. She took the time to walk me step by step through treatment plans and gave me updates throughout the day on how my sweet girl was doing. I never had to question whether or not she was getting the best care, and I wholeheartedly trust Dr. Canepa on what she decided to do. I emailed Legacy Vet Clinic after having a bad experience at a nearby cat hospital. Dr. Kaveh Sarhangpour emailed me pretty extensively back and forth and seemed knowledgeable and honest. He spent a bit of time helping me through email before I even brought my cat to him. My actual experience with Legacy Vet Clinic was great too. I took my cat in on a Saturday morning (they fit me in at the last minute, too!). My cat is super anxious at the vet (hissing, attacking), but they didn't seem phased or concerned by this at all. I left my cat there for a couple hours, and the vet discovered what was wrong with my cat (which the previous place failed to do). He treated us as if we were human patients, and took us into a private room to discuss what was wrong, which I appreciated. Also, it is very clean and bright in there. I know it's a new location but it didn't smell like the usual vet office, which was nice! read more

We were in the process of looking for a new vet because our original one was just a tad bit too far from our house (we moved). All in all, this is a great vet. The staff were wonderful and the vets were great with my mini dachshund, despite him being an absolute sissy and drama queen. He squealed and squirmed, whimper and screamed at everything. The staff sooth and comforted him. They also explained to us all about preventative and their recommendations, as well as answer all of our question and concerns. We had a pleasant experience at this clinic, not to mention it was really really clean. I have no doubt that the service this facility provides is a full 5 star. But I had to take 1 star off because OMG they are expensive. I have had my dogs for 4 year and never have I ever paid this much for yearly check-up + vaccines. I later called around 8 other veterinary clinics in the area, inquired about the costs on the same services and Legacy ended up being the second most expensive of all. Although, this could have been prevented had I done my homework before setting foot into the clinic, so I am partially to blame. Will I be back? Maybe. It will definitely be on our radar as a "second opinion place" if something happens to our fur babies. But for routine check-up + preventatives, we will most likely visit some place else. read more

Legacy Vet Clinic did an excellent job for my first visiting them. I called day of and was able to make an appointment for later that afternoon. On the call they didn't waste my time, they asked for the basic demographics and what they would be seeing my dog, Bella for. I appreciated this as I know I would be providing all of that at check in since it was my first time there and it seems that with a lot of vet clinics you have to provide information over and over again. They had a very streamlined process. I arrived and was instantly greeted. They took me to an available exam room. I shared my concerns with the vet, as my dog does not do well at the vet. I had to bring her in as she had a toenail rip off... And I also asked for them to update her shots and trim the rest of her toenails. I warned them she would probably need to be sedated which they did not fight me on. I felt they respected that I knew my dog best... And I imagine that after attempting to get her sedated in the first place they really believed me. They took her into the back to administer the shot and brought her back to me so she could take a nice nap and fall asleep with me there. I appreciated this as they could tell both Bella and I were extremely flustered by being at the vet. After she was sedated, they took her into the back and administered all the shots she needed, and also fixed up her toenail so that it was clean and wrapped her up. The vet came to speak with me about her toenail and explained that everything that I asked for was taken care of. He was very kind and assured me that Bella was not the worst they had seen. He continue to say that they deal with dogs lunging out at them on a daily basis and Bella was not acting like that, she was just scared and had high anxiety. They returned her to the exam room and allowed her to wake up with me by her side. They gave me the option to leave and come back once she was fully awake but I didn't really want to do that. They were kind enough to allow me to sit with Bella while she woke up. I am so grateful as this whole experience took over 2 hours and not once did I feel like I was in their way or that they needed me to move out of the exam room. Once Bella was up and moving we paid for our bill and walked out with heatguard, a full vetted pup, a bandaged leg and an overall positive feeling that Legacy Vet Clinic had done a great job dealing with 2 high maintenance beings who caused quite the ruckus. " Dr. Sarhangpour is the best vet in Colorado! My dog has an unusual condition called EPI and the only reason why my beautiful fur baby is alive and healthy is because of Dr. S. I took her to 4 other vet clinics when I first noticed something was wrong with her when she was a pup and Dr. S was the only vet that knew almost immediatly what was wrong with her. He proformed the tests that she needed to have done (and not just tests for worms etc., like other vets did) he knew exactly what tests she needed to have done and he was right! Finally we had a diagonisis for what was really wrong with my baby and he immediately prescribed the correct meds and diet for her and if it was not for Dr. S my fur baby would not be alive today. Dogs die from EPI all the time because vets do not test for it! Dr. S tested for it immediately and now my dog is 5 years old and healthy. We started going to Legacy Vet when we first got our puppy. I was never super enthusiastic about their care, but my boyfriend liked them, so I did too. Dr. Sarangpour is very knowledgeable, but I feel like he isn't able to see outside the box of traditional care. However, he did do an amazing job on her spay and checked on her after a week for free. We decided to stay with them and let him do it instead of going the cheaper route with the Humane Society. When I decided not to give my dog heart worm medication during the winter months, and stop giving her Heart Guard after a bad reaction, the vet tech looked at me like I had 2 heads and immediately left the room. I understand, my decisions aren't exactly what you may think, and can be a little controversial, but they are mine, and I pay lots of money here. Overall, friendly staff and knowledgable doctors. Prices aren't cheap but they're better than some. read more

Our big dog Bella, A Great Dane mix, was having digestive and pooping issues when she was a puppy. We had been going to our long time vet but none of the treatments we were given worked. After a little research, we discovered that Legacy could possibly diagnose her problems. After meeting with Dr. Kaveh, he was able to determine that our baby had a digestive issue involving her ability to produce certain blood cells. The imbalance was causing her guy to have a basic allergic reaction. After giving us a couple prescriptions, Bella began to digest food a lot easier and her diarrhea went away. Recently I had my dog in for dental care. The staff was very professional and caring . They called me 2 times during the surgery to give me updates on the procedure and also the next day to check on her progress . I recommend this clinic. I was able to get a visit within 4 hrs also. read more

I brought my cat in because he had an infection and every staff member was so friendly and informative on where to go, how much everything would be, and then performed treatment fast out of the office in about 25 minutes. This is the most caring veterinary clinic I have ever taken an animal to, and I've had a lifetime of living with pets and have had contact with very good vets. I'll list what we appreciate about Legacy: Their equipment is impressive and completely up to date. The staff is entirely professional, and they also recognize the needs of concerned pet owners. Care is immediate and thorough, with understandable explanations and careful instructions about how to take care of the pet. I would give them a thousand stars if I could. I am not a person to overrate services. I am grateful to Legacy for the wonderful care and attention they have given to our Sheltie puppy.
