I ordered the homemade fresh mozzarella, a chicken roll, and their two-for-one meatball special, and everything was spot on. * The mozzarella was incredible. Soft, creamy, fresh, absolutely the highlight and worth the price. * The chicken roll was one of the best I've had in Brooklyn, crispy on the outside, stuffed, flavorful, and didn't even need a dipping sauce. Held up perfectly in delivery. * The meatballs (10 total across two trays for $14.99) came in a rich red sauce and were clearly made in-house. Tender, well-seasoned, and very filling. Prices are reasonable for the quality, and you can tell this place actually cares about what they're putting out, not just coasting on nostalgia. The amount of meats , produce, cheese and bread is just crazy for such a small store its just great that they pack everything in here but it looks so clean and kept in great condition . They do catering of hot foods,big party hero's ,cheese and cold cut platters and they are so reasonable priced . my next party will be catered by them. Everyone in the store is so friendly and helpful i was looking for a specific cut of meat for my husband couldn't remember the name but the butcher knew exactly what i needed and the name of it lol . they also sell sandwiches antipasti and they have pretty good fried raviolis and rice balls . So from now on i will be buying all my meats here everything looked so fresh and there prices are excellent for the quality of meat your buying . super excited that its on only 2 blocks away from home. I Love they have a butcher on staff super nice and knows his meats lol . This place is like heaven to me. When i see a butcher come out carrying an entire slaughtered lamb, excitement runs through my veins. Not in a Hannibal Lechter kind of way. We hired Frank & Sal's to cater my grandfather's 90th birthday... this was going to be a massive gathering of old-school Brooklyn Italians, some of whom have moved away and lament not being able to get this or that where they are now, so I knew we had to get the food *right* and we did!! We ordered way too much, but... eh, whatever. Everything was delicious... people especially went nuts over the rice balls and croquettes; I guess you don't see those around as much anymore. Sausage and peppers did not skimp on the sausage at all - and do they make their own? It was so tasty. Oricchette pasta was al dente, broccoli rabe perfect. Chicken marsala was great, tons of mushrooms. I never got to taste the baked ziti, but people nommed it down, so I guess that was good too. We got a coffee urn and it came with three giant bottles of milk - whole, skim, 2%, some heavy cream, some half and half, and two bottles of non-dairy creamer. (seriously, we're left with so much extra milk that it's like we just bought groceries and the coffee was free!) They also delivered cups, spoons, and, like, several pounds of sugar and some sweet n low. Salad came with two bottles of dressing and a container of oil and vinigar. Bread was thrown in gratis. The guy who delivered the food was early, but not inconveniently so, and he was SO nice, and set everything up perfectly, lit the sternos, etc. No trouble returning the coffee urn and chafing stands to get my deposit back - in cash. Could not have been better. I'm just sad we don't live near this place or I'd be in there all the time for salami and whatnot. Oh, they do pastries too, but we ordered from Savarese for that because that's where we have always gotten our pastries from. read more

I don't know why people here compare Frank & Sal's to Whole Foods, its very specifically an Italian specialty store that does sell some produce (not organic, but at really good prices). You can get Italian soda and so many kinds of cookies, things hard to find outside of Italy. Many kinds of dried and fresh pastas, beautiful things like Sicilian capers in sea salt (amazing with scrambled eggs!!) and even these Italian black licorice candies that I am addicted to. You can get semolina flour to make your own pasta, or zeppole mix, little pastinas my mom used to make me as a kid, you can't get that stuff anywhere, even at Whole Paycheck. But what I love most are the meats and cheeses, like five kinds of prosciutto, sweet and spicy sausages, several provolones and the fresh mozzarella is the best in the universe! Warm, milky and freshly made, you can get it smoked and unsalted too. Grated parmesan is CHEAP, a huge container is only a couple dollars. The deli counter has amazing dishes like sauteed broccoli rabe with garlic and oil, perfectly made, plus the standard rollatinis, salads, whatever they are making that day. Its all delicious. People order and speak in Italian here, its totally charming. And I love seeing Latino and Arabic women in headscarves in here too, getting all that good stuff with their little kids. God, I love Bensonhurst. Get your bread at the bakery down the street on 18th Ave. though, its fresher :). read more

Frank and Sal's is a terrific grocery store. "Prime Meats" is a bit misleading, because it makes you think of Faicco's, which is the platonic ideal of a pork store, and which has the best sopressata in the universe. I got a well-butchered steak here, cut to order, but the calling card here isn't the meat counter. It's the grocery essentials. From Tabu grani di liquiriria to those Euro-shaped bottles of Fanta to those awesome stale, semi-sweet cookies that have your wife convinced you have no taste...it's just like being in Ischia. Except, I guess, that people in Ischia don't wear so much velour. And I bet an Escalade costs a pretty penny over there. read more

Frank & Sal's is the neighborhood italian all-in-one grocery store. They sell different cuts of meats (chicken, sausages, beef, etc), vegetables, fruits and cheeses. The store itself is not huge but what they can pack in there is immense. The owners are pretty friendly, willing to assist you with anything. The freshness of the food is pretty superb. Not comparable to Whole Foods but I guess it is Bensonhurst's own Whole Foods. I have also learned that they prepare and sell a variety of meals, ie. lasagna, baked ziti, mixed vegetables in these huge azz pans. However, you must order the meals at like 8am since I hear that they sell out by 10am everyday. My only gripe about the place is that I wish they stayed opened later on in the day - until regular people get home, which is like at 7sh and on. I think they close between 6:30 and 7pm. I just remember rushing home at 6:30sh and their doors were almost closed. read more

He pointed to basket full of mozzarella balls and informed me they are made fresh everyday. Then, he sent me on way with a "Ciao Bella." I was impress that this store sells fresh basil.
