I've been receiving Ends Meat's monthly butcher boxes from Table 22 for about 4 months now and they've definitely forced me to up my cooking game! What began as a search for easy access to high-quality meets, led to my discovery of this butcher. One of the big drawers of patronizing their business is the partnerships they have with sustainable farmers. And you can tell the quality is there. I've had some of the best cuts of meat ever from here (especially their bacon). Some of the items I've received have been: pork loins A half chicken (I wish they left the innards ) Lamb sausage Chorizo (7.5/10) Rib eyes Beef tenderloin (my favorite) Bacons (also my favorite) Spicy chili French butter Mushroom seasoning/rub Bauvette Terrine Prepackaged sausage links (my least favorite, especially the ones with cheese inside) Chicken salad Ham hock And more I would really like to continue this membership, however I'm currently ordering the Deluxe Box (the higher tier) and I'm considering downgrading or pausing because it's definitely a lot to cook over the month. I wish there was an option to select what you want in the box, even if it were the animal, as I LOVE their ground beef and most of their beef products, but don't particularly love some of the sausages and ham items. Also, I believe the membership is advertised as to having monthly recipes, notes and ideas for each of the cuts of meat, but I have yet to see those. Also, I haven't received any priority access to in-shop events or special offers as advertised. My friend and I were looking around for either a lite bite or something to drink post a Yelp event. Unfortunately, the kitchen was just closing down around 7pm on a weekday. Not surprised because it's the dead of winter and was a ghost town in Industry City. But the butcher was still open and he ordered some kind of stack of red meat and I purchased a beer from their very extensive craft beer fridge. I think I got a little overly excited because I got something called a Bagel & Schmear from Other Half Brewery and didn't read the description of it being an IPA. I mean, a bagel beer would be special. They do have amazing sounding sandwiches (most are reasonably-ish priced around $17 although it depends on the size of the sandwich amiright?): Porchetta, Steak, Pastrami Melt, Roast Beast, Burgers. I was fortunate to be raised in an upper middle class family. Blessed with excellent taste in Italian and French cuisine, we often had adult lunchables; charcuterie. She landed at Renegades of Sunset (Vegan cuisine); I couldn't pass up the allure of a craft butcher. Ends Meat offers a wide selection of butchered cuts (chops, loins, sausage, et al) and a sandwich menu. While the Philly style roast pork looked intriguing, I couldn't pass up the Hogfather: salami, coppa, mortadella, and provolone with shredded lettuce, pickled hot peppers, olive oil, vinegar, and mayo on rustic bread. They have a cute bar style set up where you can order food and draft beer and enjoy at the bar. All of the staff was very friendly and checked in on us often to make sure we had everything we needed. They have a big variety of IPAs, beers, and ciders. I selected their cherry cider which was sweet but tart at the same time; it was delicious. They have several burger and sandwich options along with wings on their menu. What caught my eye right away was the dry aged burger; it came with lettuce, tomato, bacon and cheese. Although it sounds like a standard burger, there was nothing standard about it. This was hands down the most delicious burger I have ever had. The greatest gem of industry city I was stuck between the dry aged burger and the Porchetta sandwich but decided to go with the Porchetta. The sandwich was amazing, the pork belly was perfectly crispy and juicy the cherry peppers were fresh and whatever the green herbaceous sauce that the pork belly was marinated with was incredible and contemplated the aioli well. A fantastic butcher shop that can also make the best sandwiches I've ever had in my life. Every time I go to Industry City, I can eat nowhere else because Ends Meat is so damn good. I've purchased meat from here several times and the quality is always fantastic. A bit pricier than the supermarket, but you're getting quality meat from small farms. As a whole animal butcher, you can be assured that nothing is being wasted here. For example, the pig ears are turned into dog treats. Their cured meats are terrific, as is a curated "general store" of fancy pasta, oils, and more. The only reason I'm knocking a star off for now is that the sandwiches have been inconsistent in the past few months (Yelp is primarily for restaurants, after all). Part of this is out of their control - they haven't had any gas since a fire. And I don't knock them for that, but even before the gas fire, the portion sizes were pretty variable - which isn't great when the sandwiches are on the pricier end ($16-17, justifiable when the sandwiches are massive in size.) But once they're back at full strength, a couple recommendations: The dry aged burger is one of the best burgers I've had, but ask for it SUPER rare, super charred on the outside, so that you can taste the depth of the dry aged flavor (see picture). If you don't like rare beef, don't bother. One time it came out medium well, and it was unexceptional. And the Hogfather is their Italian sub, a mixture of their best cold cuts. This is hands down their best sandwich. Nota bene: although the butcher shop is open every day, sandwiches are only being made on certain days. It used to be 12-4PM on weekends only, but the past couple times their signage indicates Weds-Sun, 12-6 PM. Ends meat is the first sandwich shop that I know of which made me want to crawl into a fetal position and fear my mortality. When a man like me hits a certain age all the medical advisories start to kick in. "You should eat less red meat, reduce your saturated fat intake, work out more, and get a prostate exam every year..." Just like every red blooded American, I enjoy barbecues, charcuterie and practically everything you can do to turn up the flavor volume on the carcass of poultry, steer or swine. I also like them sold by a jolly knowledgeable butcher with some serious facial hair. Sunset park (the area around the food hall) suffers from an embarrassment of riches when it came to culinary possibilities. It is a neighborhood of new immigrants hailing from Latin America and Southeast China. There exists a vibrant area with taquerias, carnicerias and dumpling stores all the way from Atlantic center to the edge of Bay Ridge with a ton of small grocery stores / small supermarkets. However, if you are not familiar with the area you might think that it is a food desert. To experience the culinary splendor of the area you should take the B63 bus from Brooklyn Bridge Park down Atlantic/5th Avenue from Greenwood cemetery all the way to Bay Ridge. The area near Industry City is an alien transplant completely at odds with the surrounding area, with overpriced gourmet eateries trading in the obscure, mostly for people who came off the BQE exit ramp on 38th and 39th. On one end there is Brooklyn's busiest CostCo (hello incline elevator and hordes of Chinese shoppers), and on the other end, a Federal Prison (Metropolitan Detention Complex Brooklyn). I always find it hilarious that the shopping plaza right next to it facing the detainees is called...LibertyView. I actually like that place. I can geek out at Microcenter, the missus at Saks, and both of us can indulge in snackery at World Market. Of course, there is that 900 pound gorilla in the mist, which is Industry City. I am not really sure what it is. It seems to be a collection of overpriced interior decor shops, a couple of industrial kitchens (for Li-lac chocolate?) and a bunch of slightly overpriced eateries formulated kinda like a food hall, bit the foot traffic seems to be aimed at their relatively overcompensated employees or outsiders - but then I never see massive visitor numbers. Why open an eatery here? Take ends meat, for instance. They do something similar to, say, Ehmer's in Glendale (Queens) or Schnaller & Weber in the Upper East side - they are your cut-to-order butcher who also can provide you with cured meat products - charcuterie, sausages and meat sandwiches. And in the case of Ends Meat, they also do soups. Of course, Ehmers/S&W are both on busy streets (Mrytle/2nd Av respectively), while Ends-Meat are inside this trendy, design oriented shopping area, so guess which place have the sleek / vintage store interior and the young butcher with the apron and serious facial hair? Of course, you don't come here to gawk at the surroundings like some fucking hipster with horn-rim glasses, a Leica M7 around your neck and Airpods blasting Chromeo. You are here to eat meat unironically. You will give your sandwich a girl's name, because you will facefuck it vigorously and willingly, emanating sounds that would need a funky, bass heavy 70s porno soundtrack to do it justice. No more eating out Oscar Meyer Mondalez through its purty corporate shrinkwrap, it's time to step up to the 36 chambers of Atherosclerosis. When you are done, you will think back at the fatty flavorful meat product you just consumed, think about how much saturated fat and chloresterol you just ingested, look at all those lithe millenials walking through the food hall who would no doubt outlive you, look back at yourself, and despair. I know I did. Please, if there is a merciful god, strike down those millenials and let me get another round on that sandwich. This was our first time here and we loved it! My husband and I had both the Dry Aged Burger (they are making it JUST ON THE WEEKENDS), the most basic one, with no adds on like cheese or bacon. They are really efficient with the cooking and the waiting time, even with all of the people we had in front, it just took like 12 minutes to get our burgers. When you see the burger, you may be a little bit disappointed because it looks small (the bread is small, but it is 1 pound of meat, they measure it in front of you!), but once you give it the first bite, you won't have doubts about the decision you made. It is satisfying but you may want to get two in order to be really full, o maybe you can enjoy an appetizer from any of the businesses that you can enjoy in Industry City (the experience was great, there is plenty of room to sit outside, with socially distanced tables). read more

I really wanted to like Ends Meat more, and I have little doubt that their meat products are excellent, but the high costs and slow service made it a struggle to be excited about the decent, but far from great sandwiches. Quality: Visited Ends Meat for lunch on Saturday afternoon. This review is solely from ordering food on-site, not any of the meat prepared for take-away, which frankly looked fantastic though a bit overpriced. We decided to order two sandwiches and split them. I went with the Meatball Sandwich, which was 100% beef meatballs served with tomato and provolone on a ciabatta style roll. It was a mess, but pretty good. I may be boring, but I would have selected a different cheese as I felt the provolone was too sharp and overpowering. It is found in the second building to the bottom of the complex, along with about a dozen other food options. The shop itself is a tight squeeze, with just enough room for one or two people to move along the display cases and order. They have a large kitchen behind it, and a window in if you want to watch them at work. There is a small indoor dining area directly across from the shop, however it is currently closed because of COVID. The current choice is a table in of the massive outdoor seating areas just around the corner. Crowd: It was busy, but I think it seemed busier than it was because of how slow everything moved. Everyone ordered and then gathered outside the shop patiently waiting. Service: Everyone working seemed lost. I got the impression that it was a lot of the kitchen staff up front, which may have been part of the problem. Still, it should not have taken thirty minutes to get two sandwiches, and that was short compared to some of the other guests who ordered before us and we only saw emerge to the dining area fifteen minutes after us. I asked for lamb stew cubes, and the guy politely showed me a big encased 3 pound bag. I told him I'd like 1 pound and a quarter. When I got home, he had given about a 1/2 pound of eatable meat and more than a half pound of pure fat. We had to trim literally over a pound of uneatable white fat from our lamb cubes before we even started cooking it. On top of that, I asked for advice for some cheese, and the guy sold me on something I described, and (silly me), I just said ok and bought it without checking the price. It was $30 for a tiny little square. Again, that's partially on me for not checking the price but at least partially on the guy for obviously upselling me and just hoping I wouldn't see the price - just terrible, dishonest customer service. ON TOP OF THAT, after he rang me up, he turned the automatic payment tablet around, and it asked me to tip a minimum of 15% and of course had a 20% and 25% options. If you have to go to Industry City to go to a butcher, you'd hope they'd go the extra mile with service and etc. Instead, it's just there to rip tourists off. Go to your local butcher every time. I firmly believe that this place is highly overpriced. I did not find anything special that would stand out to me. Aged meats are decent but not for the price you pay. I have another butcher on Smith Street, Caroll garden, that has outstanding meats for less cost. This place is nothing to brag about as a butcher place. Ends Meat in Sunset Park's Industry City is a small, whole-animal butcher shop that also serves up some sandwiches and other prepared items. We visited the shop looking for lunch, and were not disappointed with their Beef Neck Sandwich, filled with thin slices of beef neck, caramelized onions, half-sour pickles, thousand island dressing, and cheddar cheese. The meat was juicy and flavorful, which contrasted well against the toasted country bread. The sweetness of the thousand island merged with the light sour of the pickle and the fattiness of the meat to make a sandwich that hit your entire mouth. While we only went for lunch, we ended up buying a 45-day dry aged T-bone to bring home for sous vide as well. That piece of meat was one of the best I've ever had. They certainly know what they are doing in dry aging, and the butcher trimmed all the extra fat off the meat for me, cleaning it up nicely so it was ready for me to just take home and pop into the "bath". Prices are more than you would pay at a neighborhood butcher, but not as expensive as you would expect an artisanal Brooklyn butcher to be. Check them out! read more

We read all the reviews about the beef neck sandwich -- and it was indeed very good. Price was slightly steep considering brooklyn, but considering the wannabe tourist-ness of industry city i guess its acceptable. The portion was quite substantial, i'd have to say. Do get the hot sauce they have on the counter because it adds a nice touch! Oh we also got these dog-snack looking slimjim-looking things and it was not good i do not recommend. read more
