Frank is such a kind and welcoming spirit. Doing business with him doesn't feel like business at all - it feels like walking into a different time, an old Italian way of doing things. But that may all sound too sentimental - so let me also say that his tailoring work is superb. For $60 (in my opinion a totally fair price to pay for both the experience and the craftsmanship) he brought in and hemmed a pair of dress pants I needed ready for a wedding - and he did it in less than 48 hours. Finding a quality tailor is dam hard to do. Many people do the job, but either at an average or sub par level. So when when you meet a guy like Frank, who is clearly a master of his profession, it's refreshing. Frank works out of his house in Princeton, which is small and unassuming. However, he has a sharp eye for what needs to be done to any article of clothing and does a thorough job of asking you the look you're going for. I had him tighten up a suit that was a few years old. Shortened the pants and had them taken in around the mid section, and also had the jacket taken in. An absolute perfect job. The end result was a suit that fit better than when I first bought it. To top it off he offer a 1 month guarantee on all his work. Aside from the professional service, the guy is as friendly as can be. He welcomes everyone into his home as if you're a guest for dinner. Takes his time with each conversation, gives you a specific date to return, and never misses that date. A true professional and a tailor I'll be using for years to come. read more

I went to Frank to fix my fiancé's suit and a dress for myself. I recently moved to the Princeton area so this was my first time using him, and I have to say I was impressed. He made us feel very welcome during our initial meeting, and was able to fix both items within only a week's time. His pricing is very, very reasonable as well, and he does work for many top professors, executives, etc. in the area so you know he has the expertise for a good fit. Frank is amazing!!! Best tailor in Princeton hands down. I tend to procrastinate a lot and I needed a dress tailored for an event that was 4days later. I had been going from tailor to tailor all day getting rejected because they couldn't do my dress in time. At first frank told me he couldn't do my dress in time either...but unlike the other tailors he called around for me to make sure my dress could be done in time. To his surprise no one he knew of could finish my dress in time either. He must have seen I was stressing because he basically told me he will just work overtime and do it himself! A good tailor is hard to find. While I don't spend a fortune on suits (Suitsupply is the bee's knees!), I always make sure that they are altered professionally to make them look like they were made-to-measure. Fellow Yelpers had recommended Frank, and he definitely ticks all the right boxes. I brought two pairs of pants to be altered. Frank turned them around in a couple of days and his prices were very reasonable. Most importantly, his workmanship was excellent. Great tailoring job with decent turnaround time. This would be a 4.5 star review if possible. (My only minor issues are that I had to pay in cash, which I never carry, and the pricing was a little more than I was used to.) ~ Despite growing up in the Princeton area, I was hard-pressed to find a reliable tailor. In fact, I've had 2 other suits tailored in cities where I interned instead of getting them altered at home. With my new job in NY starting, I needed my nicest suit (Theory) tailored, and I wasn't sure where to turn. That changed when I stumbled upon Frank Porcaro's service on Yelp. I arrived at Frank's place of business a little surprised, as it was a suburban house near the Princeton downtown area. Initially, I thought I was at the wrong spot. After entering through the door, however, Frank was very welcoming and friendly. He asked what I needed, and I told him I needed to get a suit altered. He told me to put on the suit. Because his place of business is within a residential house, I changed in the bathroom near what appeared to be his workroom. When I went back into the next room, I told him that I wanted the jacket taken in and the suit pants altered. He said he agreed and pinched the parts of my jacket that needed to be taken in then drew a line with what appeared to be chalk. This practice was a little surprising to me since I'm used to tailors pinning down the fabric for alterations. As for the pants, he asked how long I wanted them, so I rolled them up to the proper length, where he marked the legs with chalk once again. Since this process took a maximum of 5 minutes, I was somewhat concerned with that the final result would look like. Frank asked when I would need the suit back by, but since I was going on vacation soon, the date would be 1.5 - 2 weeks later. He said it would be no problem, and I should come on the date I said. (Other than that, I can't comment on the speed of his work.) He told me the breakdown would be $40 for the jacket take-in, and $20 for the hem, and I would have to pay in cash. Though this was a little higher than I was used to, I needed the suit done before I moved back to NYC, where the same job would most likely be much more expensive and/or take much longer.. When I finally picked up the suit, everything fit and looked great. Frank asked how everything was to make sure I was satisfied, and I was. He told me that if I needed anything else done, I should come back, and he'll take care of it. Needless to say, I definitely will when I visit home with a new, unaltered suit. read more

I first called him at 720pm assuming they were closed, he answered and said he really wasnt open but come on in he would fit me. This was great as my schedule is a challenge. Prices were reasonable and he did a good amount of work in less than a week. He altered sleeve on my working button cuffs, pants hem, and let out pants, jacket and waistcoat all perfect. I don't know any tailors in the area so I chose Frank pretty much entirely due to his glowing ratings on yelp, but I've got to say that my experiance did not line up with what I expected to see based on all the 5 stars. Frank has very classic taste, and simply refused to take my tastes into account (namely, a slimmer fit). Flat refused to do anything other than what he wanted to do. I get that hes got a ton of experiance and is very knowledgeable, but I've been purchasing bespoke clothing for a decade and there are styles other than his that are accepable. That's bad enough, but what brings me to give him 1 star is when I called to tell him that I changed my mind and didnt want him to do one of my blazers, only the other two. He tells me its already done so I said oh well, ill come by tonight to pick it up. I arrive early to see him putting the finishing touches on it. Lying to a customer to preserve a $45 piece of business is unprofessional, unethical, and in this case ( for just45 bucks) stupid. He did a good job in terms of workmanship, so if you're looking for a classic-fitting jacket, or don't know much about menswear and want someone with experiance to guide (or force, in my case) you, he might be worth it. But for me, I felt mistreated, and like I didn't get what I came to him for. If I wanted my clothing to continue to not fit the way I want it....I wouldn't have come to a tailor. read more

Frank is a lovely man running a reasonably priced shop. His taste is a little conservative, which is to be expected. He's happy to give you a more fashion forward cut if you insist. Just ask. But he does try to steer people away from those cuts, as any good tailor should. All of the top reviews stand up to his work - he did a fantastic job and the suit looks great. He runs his "shop" from his home, so don't be surprised when you pull up to the address. Frank did a great job on my suit. Just found him through yelp. Had a couple of older suits from when I was heavier. one suit, the jacket was basically 1 size too big. Frank too in sn inch from the arms shoulders and stomach. On the other suit he took in an inch on the slacks and jacket. He did a great job and was very reasonably priced. Quality is great.
