They are following the states restrictions and operating at a 33% capacity. I arrived at 10:30 am to get in line. It opens at 11:00. I was 4th in line and didn't get to a parking spot until 11:30. The procedure to get in is intense. Your ticket has to match your id. Then they literally search you entire car- they go through everything and open all bags, coolers, consoles, and glove box. Do not bring alcohol or drugs- they will find it and it's forbidden. Google the story as to why they are so strict- makes sense. Now on to the fun part! The space is beautiful, the water is so clear, and we had a great day of social distancing on the water. People watching was great, and it is somewhat like a float competition to see who has the most fun, instagram worthy float. Be ready to see plenty of fish. The area closest to the parking lot is more "rowdy", younger crowd, verses the opposite side was a little quieter, older crowd. All in all, I will be back now that I know what to expect.

There is plenty of parking. And I believe that camping is an option. You have to pay to get in, which is fine. But I am highly annoyed that out of state cars have to pay more. Once when I went though, it was in the off season and there was no one working at the entrance gate. We were hoping to pay with a card, and it appeared to be an honor system for paying the $9 on days when the park is open, but no one is working. I was enticed by the promise of Rose Island ruins (a former amusement park/resort. Not actually an island). But as interesting as it sounds, it was disappointing. It has been all cleaned up and sign-ified and it is more meh than I had hoped. I would probably come back more often if it was more like $5 to get in. But with Louisville's copious parks, state and otherwise, and Bernheim about the same distance drive, I'm inclined to stay on my side of the river.

The old fort site has a marina and some signage, but it was brutal hot, so I wandered up to the Kentucky River Museum and stumbled right into a fascinating tour! The guide's family has operated the lock (Lock 10 to be specific) since practically conception, so he had stories, pictures, letters, journals, and a deep connection to the home and site. Awesome tour! This tour is included with your purchase of a fort ticket, so I headed over there to get mine and wander around the replica fort complete with cabins, crows, period demonstrations, and a video about the one and only Daniel Boone! This is a nice park for skateboarders, roller bladers, and bmx'ers of all ages. It was opened in…read more2002 and spans 40,000 square feet. It is open 24 hours. The park is dedicated and named after former Louisville Mayor David L. Armstrong, who was instrumental in its construction. They have ramps, tunnels, boxes, lines, ledges, rails, stairs and of course half pipes and bowls. This park is not only a skate park and bike park, but has been adopted by graffiti artist. There is some real nice art work here. The place is covered in it. The half pipe is about 24 feet high, in addition to 2 11-foot bowls, 2 8-foot bowls, 2 4-foot bowls and a six foot bowl. There is a lot of free street parking available to park and visit the park. I really liked this park. Everyone there was nice and working on their craft. This is one of the better options for skateboarders, skaters and bikers to do what they do, but in a controlled environment. There is an emergency phone on site and you are almost certain to not be alone there. The city did a greta job putting this project together.
