Hi, I was in a big…read morebind, travelling from Phoenix to Nashville when my car broke down in Big, Spring Texas. My roadside assistance towed me to their shop - I had no idea if they were dishonest, bad, or what have you. The car was dropped off on a Sunday, so they were closed. Danny, the service writer, called me promptly the next morning, empathized with my plight, and promised they'd do everything they could to figure out the problem and get me on my way. Three days later the car was fixed and ready to go. That is super fast considering they're a busy shop and they had to order a bunch of parts. David Scott was the mechanic who worked on my car. I met him briefly when I came to pick up my car. I could tell he was very conscientious and really cared that the car was repaired properly. My experience with this shop is that they are friendly, honest, dependable, and have skilled mechanics who want the job done right. I highly recommend them.

I was moving cross country from CA to NC this past October. I decided to take a rest stop off a…read morerandom exit in what seemed to be the middle of nowhere in Tx. As I pulled off, one of my breaks failed. (Like screeching grinding metal and car lurching kind of failed.) I was a single female traveling alone with a pet and it was HOT out. I was four hours from my next hotel stay, and have physical disabilities. I was terrified. AAA gave me the number to G&M Auto Care. When I called, I talked to the owner, Mr. Leatham who was SOOOO nice, and pretty much already knew what was wrong with my car based on the description. I had my car towed there, and they worked on it right away. Mr. Leatham chatted with me and my pet bunny in the waiting area. He told me a story about how he was stranded once, and couldn't find anyone to help him. I knew he understood my situation. My car was fixed in under 2 hours for a very fair price, and I was able to make it to my next destination before it was dark. I am very grateful that my breaks failed on THAT exit, because I ended up at the right repair station, with an honest and compassionate person to make sure I was back on the road safely, and with piece of mind.

I called the shop and they told me to bring it in to check the codes. I went by auto zone on the way and it threw 9 different codes..brought it into Don's and it threw the same code, but they insisted there was nothing wrong with it/that they didn't do anything wrong. The check engine light came back on again today and they're still insisting they had nothing to do with it. Definitely not a coincidence that my check engine light just came on after it spent two hours in their shop and hasn't had this problem ever.

So we called to make sure that it was still in inventory and it was so we made an appointment to test drive it the following day in the morning at 10am. They were not busy at all and not exactly welcoming in the manner that usual car dealerships welcome customers. The building itself was extremely dated and dirty. It smelled old and like cigarette smoke. So as we sat down in one of the cubicles with a salesperson she attempted to get the truck we wanted but then came back empty handed with a gloomy face and told us that the vehicle had just been sold and is "under contract" from this morning... Hmmm wow it's been ages since I seen a "bait & switch" tactic they must think all people are gullible. The CarFax for this truck has been on the lot for over 90 days and just the one day we had an appointment it was sold to someone from Austin which sounds really odd because he put money on it over the phone... Sounds fishy right? Yeah we already knew we both wanted to walk out but we gave them a chance and guess what? We get told that they have a prettier model for sale but $7k over our budget. What a crock of bull. I was ready to go but my other half wanted to give them one more chance and we did test drive one that was a couple grand over our budget and it was nice but had exposed wires from a sound system and it was dirty and not showcase ready. So we asked if there were anymore and she said we don't have anything else unless you want a junker. Wow she was not in the mood to get paid. How ungrateful can you be when people are practically shoving money in your face and you just decline. No hands were shaken and she went back to bumming a cig from a client and went to smoke. By the way this business is NOT BBB accredited but they still have a sticker on their entrance door claiming they are. I see a file being claimed soon. So when you see an ad online from Big Spring Ford and it seems like a great deal... It's not. It's the good old bait and switch tactic. Go there if you dare. Just make sure on your first phone call that they aren't going to try and pull a fast one on you.
