The judge sucked seemed like he had a hell of a day but hey Justice isn't always pleasant. The food sucked ass but they did serve 3 meals a day and it was hot. I was in a good pod that allowed for TV and low risk inmates. We were all just doing our time and paying our debts to the system Showers were hot Bed mattress stunk All in all I don't condone breaking the law because it's a road that never ends. If you end up in Benton county corrections you won't have the hardest time serving out your time.

I thought of pulling a Lez Lemon, and showing up in a Han Solo outfit, but I was curiously intrigued with learning about the whole experience. They have been having some issues with their online & call-in system, but I had no issues with determining whether I was needed. The staff at the Center were pretty cool. Some of the Jury candidates were hella funny and memorable. Sadly, I didn't make it for Jury selection--my number was just too high. It was a cool experience nonetheless.

I spent a couple of days in Pendleton and stumbled upon this on Yelp. Just a heads-up, you'll need…read moreto book a reservation because the groups tend to fill up quickly--we had 17 people in our group! This was definitely more than we were expecting! The tour was about 1.3 hours long, and you'll need to climb and descend stairs and squeeze into small spaces. If any of that sounds like a challenge, it might not be the right fit for you. Our tour guide was "BRAD," and he was amazing! He's practically "been there, done that." He grew up exploring these tunnels with his friends and has all sorts of stories to share. You'll learn a lot about the history and some simple sayings that will make you laugh and give you a deeper understanding. For example, there's a "Shoot" of whiskey! From the outside, you have no idea how huge this place is, and we only get to see a small part. Don't miss out if you get the chance. We'd definitely go back and bring a friend who hasn't seen it before.

The tour was led by Matt and is meant for mature adults who don't get upset or offended by certain language. It was such a fun tour. Matt told us the history while making it fun throughout the whole 2 hour tour. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to add a little bit more fun to the tour.

It's Yelp classification of Local Flavor fits the bill precisely! Historical and unusual this tea pot dome service station was actually a functioning one at one point in time and the building has been kept up and maintained perfectly so it looks quite pristine! Antique gas pumps are nearby to admire, a pic nic table and a memorial nearby. Admission is free and the day I was here I visited with a very congenial gentleman about the nearby area and took some info home about the building and the area. Definitely a cute place to stop! The attraction isn't anything that would be too terribly time consuming to stop at and a good place to stretch your legs and enjoy a service station of the past.

Located on the main drag in downtown Zillah, this iconic structure is both hard to miss and a poignant reminder that if you are an elected official and do something dumb, it will probably be memorialized forever... Perhaps in the form of an old gas station! For those who are unfamiliar with the teapot dome scandal (like I was until about three minutes ago) - here is a link to a Wikipedia article that will give you some background. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Teapot_Dome_scandal In a nutshell, the presidency of Warren G. Harding was rocked by some illegal activity where leases to drill for oil were granted inappropriately. One such place was in teapot dome, Wyoming... Hence the name. Wouldn't you know, those rascals in Zillah, Washington were on the ball and constructed this novelty gas station as a reminder of the past and to give your kids something fun to look at when you would stop for gas. Unfortunately, this place doesn't have active pumps anymore, but they do use it as a welcome center for the community. There's a nice little parking lot out front, some restrooms if you need to stop, and plenty of opportunity for a picture that will remind you of those clever people down in Zillah! Also, I can imagine architects may appreciate all that goes into a place like this. At present, I don't have a good enough appreciation for the complexities of architecture to know whether not this place is a masterpiece or a piece of crap. Either way, it looks like something out of a nursery rhyme and is unique in the service stations that I have ever been privy to. If you're going through the area, it's worth taking a three minute detour to go see this place!

The backyard area is nice but we opted to be in "the workshop" so to speak which was nice for just the two of us. Well worth the time spent here! We weren't even "puppy blinded" since their dog was resting from surgery but we were sending love from the tasting area :)

What a great experience this was, with a great group of wine club members and customers there. The team at Rotie did an awesome job of welcoming us, and providing us with samples of the wine they were releasing for the spring. They complimented this with fresh made smash burgers that were really good. It paired quite well with the Northern Red Blend. We also attended the Seafood Boil event that evening at their processing facility, what a great event that was too! What a great setting, what a great staff, and what a great experience.

Washington State Penitentiary, known locally as "The Pen" or "WSP", panders to a committed demographic of long-term vacationers. Stays at WSP can last from as little as a year and a day to five or six decades. The Pen is in a club of its own, exclusively offering its services to only a unique fraction of Washington's population. Amenities at the Pen include three meals a day, private or shared living quarters, visiting facilities and recreation fields, cultural activities (including monthly powwows, and AAPI/African American cultural appreciation events), and plenty of time to enjoy the company of your peers in a relaxed, comfortable environment. A typical day may involve a board game or two (Risk, anyone?), a trip outside to enjoy the weather at one of four recreation fields or perhaps a pick-up basketball game at one of three gyms. Later, back in the living unit, one may relax in one of the living unit's day-rooms watching a sports game, playing pool or ping-pong or simply conversing with friends. Due to the length of the visits of many guests, The Pen fosters a healthy sense of camaraderie and friendly competition between different groups of guests. Many guests have commented between the similarities of the Pen and J. K. Rowling's Hogwarts. Much like Hogwarts, the Pen has several groups of residents organized loosely into different "houses." This helps residents who may otherwise find difficulty meeting new people to instantly belong to a new group of friends. The largest "houses" at the Pen (jokingly referred to by employees as "Security Threat Groups" or STGs) are split along racial lines. Whites, Blacks, Native Americans and Asian American/Pacific Islanders each form their own respective houses, whereas residents of Latin or Hispanic origin are divided into two groups (Nortenos and Surenos). No matter who one is or where one is from, the Pen is without a doubt a great place to develop camaraderie among new friends. Despite the positive social environment the Penitentiary fosters, a stay at the Pen may not be the right choice for everyone. The primary difficulty for many guests is the nature of the long-term commitment necessary to be accepted as a resident. Some former guests have found difficulty returning to the boring, daily grind of civilian life after decades in the challenging, diverse environment offered by the Pen. Some have difficulty finding jobs, as employers are aware of the malaise that many Pen residents suffer from when readjusting to a 9 to 5 job after decades without having to work. But don't let a little thing like that keep you from giving it a try. Overall, The Pen has a reputation of being a place where lifelong friendships are made. Many residents miss their old friends so much that they will do anything to return. The Pen takes pride in the fact that over 50% of clientele return for another stay. 5 star recommendation.

I'm a fan, as much as I can be. It's a prison, after all. I wished there was something I could've…read moreread about so I knew what to expect, so I decided to write something here for future visitors. This was my first time visiting an inmate in prison so I have nothing to compare it to, but I was pleasantly surprised by what a positive experience it was. The staff and guards were wonderful and respectful. Upon arrival, you sign in on the clipboard and take a seat in the visitor's waiting room. They call people back ten(ish) at a time to show your ID and get signed up. You'll be given a key for a locker to store your belongings. You are only permitted ID, locker key and a clear pouch/baggie with quarters; nothing else, not even a gum wrapper. You then sit again for a short amount of time and they will call you up about ten at a time again to go through the metal detectors then be escorted back to the visiting room where you'll choose an appropriately sized table for you and your inmate. Inmates can have up to 5 visitors. At each table will be a yellow chair for the inmate and green chairs for visitors. Chairs are not to be moved. There are several different sized tables for different sized groups. If there's just one visitor then you sit at the long table. When you arrive in the room, your inmate may not be in there yet but should arrive within a few minutes. Some visitors will take this time to buy snacks out of the vending machines. You cannot share beverages with your inmate but you can open a bag of chips and share those. We bought a Mt. Dew and Snickers for our loved one and he was thrilled when he sat down. This is a special treat for a lot of these guys. They allow visitors to stay for the whole session. We were in the room from 8:40 until 11:15 which was a pleasant surprise. When your inmate arrives, you can give a huge hug which is awesome when you haven't seen somebody in awhile. You may also hug and kiss upon leaving and hold hands while visiting. The visiting room has a big play area for kids as well as games to play with your inmate. I saw multiple people playing cards and keeping score on dry erase boards. When you checked in to visit, you will have been asked if you'd like to pay $2 for a photo. If you have done this, then a guard will come around and pull the inmate and their visitors to the side and take your picture. They'll provide you with a 4x6 photo for the visitor to take home. I'll definitely be doing this next time! I saw some of the photos and they were quite good. The guards will yell "3 more minutes until visiting is over", and people will start cleaning up their tables. Many people spent the last minute or two just hugging and saying their good-byes. Inmates then have to sit down at the tables while visitors line up against the wall to be escorted into the next long hall. Then visitors are escorted out ten at a time. Once you're back in the lobby, you can sign up for the afternoon session on the clipboard. We didn't do this but were told that people who didn't visit the morning session are prioritized. If there's enough space then you'll be allowed to visit the second session. One frequent visitor had told us that they have always been able to go in for the 2nd session. I imagine this might not be so on holidays. Remember to dress appropriately, nothing revealing and NO blue denim! The inmates are in jeans and navy blue shirts, some have light blue denim button up shirts, as well. I again want to reiterate how incredibly pleasant and positive this experience was. It's refreshing to see how respectful the guards were and how much they value positive interactions between inmates and their families. I'm sure it's a benefit to have happy inmates. Kudos to EOCI staff!
