Good breakfast, cooked to order! Friendly service, French Toast was really good! His eggs were cooked perfectly, crispy hash browns and delicious sausage patties!

Sometimes one must throw caution to the wind!

I had checked Yelp last evening for restaurant recommendations here in Onawa where we're camping for two days on our trek back east, and didn't see any standouts. However, "Frannies", a breakfast/lunch place had good reviews. Easy to find. Plenty of parking on this charming Iowa Main Street. Interior was light, airy, and clean. Plenty of seating. The service was immediate and cheerful. Coffee was excellent. I ordered the "Breakfast Feast" - country fried steak, hash browns (or fries), two eggs to order (scrambled), and a grilled muffin (back East we call it an "English Muffin." All covered in a light pepper gravy. Everything was done to perfection. The hash browns were crispy, the steak was also crispy yet tender. Often times, a gravy can be "flour-y" or too much pepper but this was perfect. Grilled muffins were crispy and buttery. The portion was large, and I couldn't finish, but I didn't bring it home to microwave later: it would have been mush and I wanted to remember it just as it had been in all of its tasty glory. My wife had French toast and sausage (she has more resistance than I), and it was reportedly excellent as well. Prices were very reasonable. We tipped 30% on the total.

Our second fantastic meal here! Great food, very clean & nice staff! Absolutely worth the 150 mile drive!

Little stop on the trip to Omaha. So glad we found this place. Quick bite to eat. Friendly service. Food was really good. I got the pork tenderloin and boy was it tender and juicy. My wife got the Frannie Melt. It was oozing with goodness. The onions were sautéed to perfection. Son got a bacon cheeseburger which he had eaten before he could say anything. Daughter got chicken tenders. Tenders are ok but nothing to get excited about. Definitely will come back if ever around here.

Blueberry pancake was huge and delicious! Side of eggs. Very reasonably priced as well!

Great little cafe! Staff was friendly, food was good. Would highly recommend! My only suggestion would be flavored creamer.

This is a really nice new building. It's large with many TV's and tables. They have large "garage…read moredoors" that can be opened up so that you feel somewhat like you are sitting outside, yet you are not. They do have a food menu but for convenience we ordered a burger that they were grilling and selling outdoors. There are many picnic tables and a couple of stages on their large landing outside the main building. Everything seems super clean which is nice, and the folks that work there are very accommodating. I can only comment to the women's restroom, but they are fantastic! Each stall is completely private and well maintained! Always nice! I boated there over Memorial Day weekend, and while they did have bands it was nice that there was no cover. Who does that?!? Just another refreshing part of this newer establishment. They did add gas on their docks for boats which they didn't have last year. Fantastic except on this particular day anyway they did not have dedicated docks for boats that needed gas, but rather they would drag the gas hose over other boats to get to the boat that needed gas. Meanwhile the boat needing gas had to hold on to other docked boats to keep it steady while filling up. Hopefully this will not be a practice they continue as it seemed a bit dangerous and annoying for the owners of the docked boats. Their RV campground seemed full and nice, although it will be even nicer once the newer trees grow enough to actually provide some shade. Welcome back Cottonwood Marina!! So happy it was rebuilt after the flood!

Well, look no further. This no-frills steakhouse specializes in dry aged beef, is James Beard award winning, has great cocktails, and still serves you a relish tray while you wait for your meal. For those of you under the age of 35, a relish tray, often consisted of carrots, celery, pickles, and cubed cheddar cheese like this one. They also will bring you some bread and butter if you would like. In my opinion, you should definitely opt for the tenderloin, but I'm not sure there is a bad steak option on the menu. They also have seafood and even sandwich sandwiches including a burger so there's something for everyone! It's family friendly and although the decor will remind you of your grandma's house, no grandparent I have ever met could put out steaks like this. Visit the ice cream capital of the world and make sure to save room for a steak!
