Cheeseburger and side of house made chips. Chips were crispy and not greasy!

what a gem in the middle of Iowa. we arrived when they just opened for the day and it was open seating. we quickly settled on what to eat. Wife and the kids had a cheeseburger. it was good. the kids cheeseburger is huge (same size as the regular). I love how they give you options as to which potato product you would like. I settled for the special, chicken fried steak. it was delish. served over homemade mashed potatoes (still had some chunks of potato!) along with string beans gravy. So good and for $12?! In Seattle area that would cost you closer to $20. great value, great flavor and great service. I would not hesitate to come back.

Gosh, I wanted to like this place so much more. We saw the the great reviews on Google and Yelp and were excited to try it out. Our party of 12 came on a Saturday evening right at opening and were able to get seated right away. The restaurant is a cute little corner shop with even it's own street sign pointing the way to the restaurant. Their menu was expansive and covered a broad range of cuisines so it was easy for everyone to find something that they liked. I ordered the grilled pork chop and had intended on splitting half of it to share with my Father-in-Law who ordered the Prime Rib special. The caesar salad was beautiful and tasted wonderful. Honestly the exact right amount of dressing as I didn't think it was too heavy or light. The pork came shortly thereafter and it's totally my perception but for a $16 entree, it looked really plain. I think a few garnishes, drizzle of a sauce, or something would have gone a long way (see photos). The flavor was good, it was juicy and had some notes of rosemary and garlic. Everything turned south when I cut into the pork and it was really pink. Now I recognize that the USDA says you can have some pink in your pork chop but I would've preferred it to be cooked through (as I assume most people) since it's been a longstanding truth. OR at the minimum, to ask if I wanted it pink or cooked through. I do think it was an honest mistake and when I let our server know, she froze, and then apologized and offered up an alternative. That was exactly the response you would hope and I ended up getting chicken tacos. So why 2 stars? I shortly became sick after our dinner and I assume the few bites of the pork chop had something to do with it. My stomach continued to hurt and feel unsettled the rest of the night. As for the replacement tacos and the other food- our party generally thought it was good but not quite 5 stars. There's ample opportunity to improve and become a 5 star restaurant we would consider giving them another shot when we're in Woodbine next.

Stopped on our way home from Omaha tonight and will definitely be back! The food and drinks were great! It's hard to find good mixed drinks east of Omaha but Good Fellows has a great drink menu at reasonable prices. The dinner & lunch menus have a great selection, there should be something to make everyone happy with sandwiches, steaks, chicken, pizza, Mexican, and Asian selections. Many of the menu items look like they could be easily gluten free. The Prime Rib was delicious with a yummy Au jus that had just the right level of flavor and saltiness. I selected the soup starter which was tomato basil, this soup was so good, it reminded me of soup I've had at fancy places in Chicago- so good! Oh, I almost forgot about the deserts, they had a special Raspberry pie with homemade vanilla ice cream tonight but we opted for the strawberry cheesecake. The strawberry syrup tasted fresh and flavorful on top of yummy cheesecake. This hidden treasure is tucked away on Main Street and has a great atmosphere with great service. I'm already looking forward to coming back

Although not in Omaha, we made a quick little road trip to Logan, IA. Tucked away along the rolling…read morehills of Loess, we swung by for dinner. Saturdays are for SMOKED prime rib night and it's a must to try their 12oz. Side of corn and mac and cheese, plus that au jus dunking sauce. Requested done medium and she came out perfect! Tender, juicy, seasoned well, crusted to perfection. That mac and cheese was BOMBBBB and highly recommended! First time having "smoked" prime rib and it's one officially checked off the list. EXCELLENT smoked flavor! I'm such a fish and chips whore, so when I saw it on the menu, it was a must. Boasted as premium cod, she comes in BIG fillets! Their two piece meal was plenty for one. Nothing to write home about on the chips; your traditional fry. Not terribly seasoned and not terribly... not seasoned. The cod was decently bite worthy, a little on the dry side, but flaked up well. Would I order it again? Probably not. Tartar sauce was just.. tarter cause. Timing was a tad off, as we finally got a refill and an additional water, when it was time to get the check. If you're going for a burger, plan on an extra 25mins ontop of your wait (unless uou made a reservation). Also snagged their Corn Colada off their drink list. Very sweet, no sweet corn taste, and surprisingly not burned!

Although it is off the beaten path, Twisted Tail is worth the drive. The address says Logan, Iowa;…read morehowever, it is actually located in a tiny unincorporated town called Beebeetown. Don't worry -- the roads getting there are in great shape and it is a pleasant drive. We visited there with some good friends last Thursday evening to avoid the wait times that I had read about on Fridays and Saturdays. Even though that meant we missed their popular ribs and prime rib nights, we were able to experience everything else which makes this place special. To begin with, the building at the corner of the only 4-way stop sign for miles around is rustic, yet clean and well-maintained. The interior harkens back to simpler days of the past with antiques, pictures and other great decor. Our waitress was a young gal who was very nice -- even though she didn't know what the daily special would look like. We figured that many of her customers are regulars who don't need to ask exactly how a dish will be served. Not a problem! Three of our group elected to try the Hot Beef daily special which was tender slices of beef in a sandwich topped with brown gravy with sides of mashed potatoes and creamed green beans. Good home-style cooking that looked and tasted delicious. My wife chose the French Dip sandwich which came with onion rings and au jus. The hoagie bun was filled with meat and she pronounced it to be delicious as well. Our only mistake was ordering an appetizer of Onion Rings. Not the onion rings themselves--they were more than fine. But it was a missed opportunity to sample something else as a starter. Wonderful meal! Highly recommend this place.
