Cleavage and boobs do not a good waitress make, nor do the lack thereof. This place used to be pretty decent, but the attitude of the waitresses and the service they provide leaves much to be desired. After ordering drinks to start our meal the waitress never returned to take our order after informing us that she would be back shortly. I placed the order at the bar 25 minutes after arriving to expedite matters. Order arrived in timely manner, but it was wrong. After 10 minutes of waiting to inform the waitress that they done screwed up, I approached the bar to once again take care of things. I then needed to walk around the restaurant trying to find silverware and napkins as the wait staff continued to provide dismal customer service. I could go on, but suffice it to say that their platitudes and excuses for their poor service were ridiculous. We will not be going there again. I have no idea what has happened, but as I mentioned earlier, this used to be a pretty good fare. The last few visits have left me wondering why their waitstaff continues to use crap on their toothbrushes. Head into town to eat when in Ann Arbor; you can do better than Fraser's. read more

I lived in Ann Arbor for ten years from '86-'96. I lived in Decatur, IL and Iowa City, IA before moving to Michigan. In Decatur all the bro's drank Schlitz. Long story short, went to Frasers Pub with a friend for the first time on a Sunday afternoon in '86 plopped up to the bar and tried to be a wise guy by ordering a Schlitz. Turns out Schlitz was the "owners" drink of choice! When I could get a Schlitz in Michigan I knew this would be my bar! I frequented that place way too often and was one of those regulars that people have written about. I was even the first Black Man to work behind the bar for the Xmas party! I love that bar and miss it way too much. It is the best bar I have ever been to in my entire life. This s is the worst bar in Ann Arbor. The two bartenders never asked you if you wanted more water or another drink, you had to hunt them down. I brought this to the manager's attention, but nothing was done, except for receiving a drink. Gee thanks! I thought this is one reason to go to a bar..to drink...silly me. Last I checked, good bartenders were friendly and attentive. Well, if you want poor bartending with an attitude, this is the place! Oh, and especially if you're a good looking woman, the female bartenders seems to be very intimidated by that. This is "our bar." The bar tenders are so friendly and make us feel welcome and comfortable. Unlike some places I've frequented, the servers actually take the time to remember our names and our drink orders. The atmosphere is always an appropriate mix of lively and laid back. The food is mostly bar grub. The burgers are especially delicious, and I also like the quesadillas. Much like apparently everywhere in Ann Arbor (as I am learning), they focus mostly on beer and don't have a cocktail list, but they do have a full bar and reasonably knowledgeable bartenders (well, most of them), so if you're a non-beer drinker such as myself you'll be able to get them to mix up something you like. read more

dude you want the waitresses to completely treat you like a fly on the wall (which granted could be possible...) It's their JOB to be friendly to you. Most bars come from the Western Saloon background, from a small town experience, not the austere gentrified experience most urban environments associate with their club scene. you want a 5 star restaurant go downtown. this is my 5 star dive bar. Although, I do like more of a beer selection, but as long as there's 2-3 microbrews I'm good. Excellent fries. Really. But if you're a vegan, be careful. They cook everything in lard, or so the waitress told me. I didn't polygraph her, but what kind of village idiot would lie about that? Really, what could you possibly gain by describing the animal by-products that went into crafting the famous Fraiser's onion rings? The atmosphere inside the bar is pretty dingy, but what do you expect? Don't go here if overhearing tales of shitty golf games played earlier in the day will piss you off. Apparently, they have good pizza too, but I haven't had it yet. If you're really ugly or big-fat, and you are looking to slut it out with some out-of-town business men of a medium caliber, the lighting here is very forgiving. In this regard, the only competition is Banfield's East. In all fairness though, Banfield's East is a more pure time machine, if you ever wanted a time machine that could take you to 1989 and smell like an old Video Hut. Stopped into Fraser's last night because we were tired of all our usual spots around town. We were so surprised at how good the food was! I had the mahi mahi sliders and sweet potato fries. The sliders were perfectly grilled and the sweet potato fries were huge and crisp, a combination I've not found around here before. My boyfriend had the ham and swiss sandwich with regular fries and he said both were great. We weren't expecting such a tasty meal, just something different, but now Fraser's has been placed on our regular rotation and we will be back! read more

The best thing about Fraser's is that absolutely anyone can go there at any time and not feel conspicuous or out of place. Of course, you may not want to patronize a bar that has as much room for the uncool townie of a certain age as for the college student; it suits me. I like the open layout, the bar, the tables, the placement of the TVs so that you can ignore them or watch as you choose. The food will kill you over the long term, like most bar food: it's the standard fare. The buns holding my hamburger or fish fillet dissolve into a sloppy mess, also fairly typical. The place is crazy wild during UofM football games, if that's what you're after; get there at least an hour early. read more

This used to be one of my favorite bars...great burgers etc. On my recent visit I ordered a burger and asked for mayo. Not extra mayo, just mayo and was charged extra for it. Crazy. Not the local, friendly, down to earth place it used to be. read more

LITERALLY the WORST experience I have ever had at a bar. I understand that many are prone to exaggeration, but I can assure you, this is merely a detailed account of my experience. For the record, I joined Yelp ONLY because of this experience as I feel it is important that people know what they are getting into... Before we begin as a point of reference, my experience: 3 years as a server 2 years as a bartender We walked in on a Tuesday... This was my first time ever at this location and it was crowded because they were hosting some kind of radio station car giveaway etc... As this was just letting out, my group was heading into the bar; it was crowded, but manageable. I sidled up to the only spot open at the bar and was promptly accosted by a server. She scolded me, telling me that this was their ONLY serving station and that she had already told several people to get out of the way... (it is important to note that their "only serving station" is the corner of the bar that is QUITE LITERALLY in the center of the bar, which is also in the center of the room itself). I agreed to move, but made the point that I was just one person, and was not aware of the other individuals she had berated... Being very taken aback by her aggression, I merely reiterated that I was not aware of previous infractions, and postulated that she was being rude, by making such assumptions. It was at this point that ANOTHER bartender came to her aid and stated, "it doesn't matter because I'm not going to serve you anyway." Now, I want to make this clear... I WAS NOT DRUNK. I WAS NOT BELLIGERENT. I was quite honestly just stunned... I have been going to bars for the last decade and I have NEVER seen anything like this. Finally, a third bartender came around and just rolled her eyes about the other two (like she was trying to say that they were being b*tches for the whole night or something) and served me like it was no big deal... I don't know if this was some kind of weird angle, and I don't care. I CAN tell you one thing: the last place I ever want to be ordering a drink from again is Fraser's Pub. BOTTOM LINE: I called out poor service and a lack of common decency, and I was all but asked to leave. I was DEFINITELY refused service by at least one person. I guess if you want to drink here, the main tip is, if you are told ANYTHING by the staff, don't assert your rights and privileges as a customer if you want to stay. Apparently, standing up for yourself is grounds for dismissal... On the heels of that experience, I didn't even order any food because I was afraid they would spit in it... read more

Went last night. Wanted a good draft beer. When we asked for a beer list they said there was no list except the one scrolling video beer list mounted in another area of the bar. Had to get up and look at it for five min. Finally ordered a beer and they said they just ran out. Had to get up and look again. What a dumb idea. Finally ordered beer and food from a rather odd waitress who seemed pretty out of it. Sure enough she forgot to place half of our food order. Terrible service. Will not go back. read more

Fraser's is a warm and friendly neighborhood pub where folks can relax, recharge, and simply be themselves. The environment is great, food is just fine too. All of the staff is friendly, you will feel very comfortable here. Not bad. Reminded me of a yooper bar with great beer selection. Service was a little on the slow side. Had a burger, nothing jumping out at me. It was good, but not HOLY CRAP good. We go there on game day at the Big House. They do not bring in the crowd that they used to but it's still a great gathering place. For the big games, they put up a tent in the parking lot. Food is typical bar food but it is good and reasonably priced. It's within walking distance to the Big house on a nice sunny day or a short taxi ride (~$7/person). Give it a try. read more

I like Fraser's. If you do not like dealing with college frat boys this is the place to be. If you want a darn good burger from a local butcher I would recommend this place. If you are bored with other bars, i certainly would give this place a try. Come with an open mind to be entertained in some way or another. I have been going for about 2 years or so. I have liked the staff but have noticed it becoming increasingly better. I do not recommend coming around with fancy pants requests. This is an old school pub. Countless regulars. Laid back and sports atmosphere. The food is more or less typical pub food. Many local beers on tap. Many tv's and a large projector screen for games. the jukebox is a nice feature. I have been to frasiers twice in the past week and had two totally different experiences. The first was a wednesday evening. It was quite busy but our server was very attentive and pleasant. We did not eat on this occassion but others @ our table did & pleased with their food. My friend and i then went on sat. For the u of m game. When we arrived around noon the place was packed. We found a few open seats @ the bar but when we sat down we were informed rather rudely that one seat was *saved* for a regular. We ordered an appetizer which was frito lay cheese out of a jar & stale nacho chips for 5 bucks. The *regular* arrived with his buddies who all planted themselves @ the bar & were joined by the owner of the place. The waitresses were rude & complaining loudly about their tables (i have a table with kids throwing shit all over the floor said one). None of them smiled..they looked hateful & miserable. The owner and his posse just sat & watched the mess go on. Not sure i will go back there. read more
