We stopped here for a bite to eat after an art festival. I got a burger, which was one of the most flavorful burgers I've had for a while. It was juicy, well seasoned, and the crispy onions on top added a little extra to it. My dining companion got the steak fritte wrap . It was huge! I tried a bite and the seasonings were amazing. The kids burger is a decent size, and the kids mac & cheese is homemade. Drinks were also good. Our server was Bailey. They were busy and he was very personable and efficient. He checked in and answered questions about the menu. We sat outside and it's nice that the street is closed and it's great for people watching. Overall, great place to stop in AA. read more

Jolly Pumpkin was a pleasant surprise after my go to spot Jim Brady's closed in downtown AA. Staff was amazing, friendly and accommodating. Simple design, perfect spot to grab quick food, drink and watch a game. I started with a Side Caesar Salad and Crispy Potato Croquettes which were both pretty good. Great spot! We really enjoyed this place. The portion sizes for both the food and the beer were huge, our service was amazing, and the ambiance inside was really nice! Classic Ann Arbor beer spot! If you are a fan of sours, you must try Jolly Pumpkin. I always enjoy the beer, whether in person or at home (can find their beers in retail all over). You can also purchase beer to take home from here. Food menu I would describe as slightly elevated bar food with some twists. In general I find it good, but not amazing. My favorites are probably their chicken nachos and truffle fries. Salmon burger and chicken sandwich are tasty too, and some will say their burger is a contender for best in Ann Arbor. I tried their Pozole Rojo large plate for something different this visit, and it was good but a little underwhelming. It's been a while since I've visited Jolly Pumpkin because the service was never great and my last visit confirmed that nothing has changed. The servers always seem inattentive and like they would rather be elsewhere (I get it, but food service isn't the place to work, then). Whenever I end up here it's because of the patio, which is a wonderful space in the summer and can be shaded depending on where your seat is. They no longer have cocktails, which is disappointing, but the tofu sandwich is always tasty. read more

We ordered the crispy potato croquettes which were more like soggy, greasy cheese sticks and not paired well with the "charred tomato basil sauce" was more likely they tomato soup!! Not a very large beer selection for a brewery and the few I did try, were warm which on a hot day is not great. My daughter opted for a mocktail and it was so wet that she didn't drink it at all. Service was very slow and pretty much non-existent after we were served our app and drinks. They didn't even bring us water despite it being a hot day or ask if we were enjoying our order!! Jolly Pumpkin is a fun place for a group and has been around for some time in Ann Arbor. The service was pretty good, but they were out of several drinks so I resorted to a cocktail (I don't recommend the Old Fashioned, sorry). The prices are a bit steep ($18 for my sandwich) but overall, the food was very good. I got the Warm Artichoke Sandwich with a side salad. I was in the area and needed to get a tagabrew so I decided to check this place out. I used to avoid Jolly Pumpkin locations because I didn't like sour beers. But they now have a much larger variety. Parking in Ann Arbor can be tricky. All of the streets are also torn up so getting around right now can be a bit daunting as well. I got extremely lucky with my parking and was able to easily walk here. You also don't have to pay to park after 6 which was a nice surprise. I explained to the bar tender that I was only here for one beer, and he understood this, which was nice. I didn't eat but I have eaten at other Jolly pumpkins. I'm sure it's the same. This is solely a food review. I assumed since there were a lot of good reviews the food would be good, but I wasn't a fan. I couldn't finish one slice of the carnivore pizza. The sauce tasted strange and I didn't like the bacon on the pizza. I can't nail down the taste, but it wasn't fitting for a pizza. I also ordered the beignets which in fact we're not beignets at all. They were more likely oddly shaped donut holes with a cinnamon sugar coating. Great upper deck space for the nice weather months. No elevator but if you can make the stairs, it's worth the trip. Up top, there is plenty of shade and fans to keep you cool but you still get to be outside. Full service upstairs too. It's bigger space than I thought with plenty of little spaces for a bit of privacy too. I met two girlfriends for happy hour. I don't recall the specials but we did enjoy a couple cocktails and were blown away by the steak salad. Cooked to order and very tasty. I like JP for the pizza and sour beers, though the higher prices keep me from making this location a normal spot for me. Last time I was there, a personal size truffle pizza came out with three pieces of mushrooms. It was very good but if mushroom is the only topping, there better be more than just three. I ask for extra mushrooms now and of course that is an upcharge. This place is very popular and consistent with their menu and service. The farmer's plate is off the menu and I hope they bring it back for the summer. Definitely a great spot for outside dining in the summer. read more

Arrived for dinner last night around 6 pm, was happy to be seated right away but then proceeded to wait 15 minutes before our waitress greeted us. We placed our orders immediately for truffle fries as an app and two pizzas in addition to a beer. Food came out fast with the truffle fries being good, but the pizzas were a little undercooked and one of them was not cut all the way through which made it difficult to eat/get a slice. My beer, however, didn't arrive until I was 3/4 finished with the meal and I had to flag down the waitress for it (didn't see her since ordering the food). It seemed like poor management as she seemed to be the only waitress for the first floor. Additionally, I saw her clearing empty tables that could be bussed by anyone else so she could focus on tables. About ten years ago Jolly Pumpkin was one of my favorite spots in AA and coming back to visit for the first time in a while it was sad to see Jolly Pumpkin hobbled by poor service. Will think twice about going again next time. Management needs to schedule more help or help out themselves. read more

Our server was excellent--professional, friendly, and efficient. For some odd reason, it wasn't busy when we arrived, so we were seated quickly. We split nachos and they were on the table about 5 minutes after ordering. Woo hoo! They have great nachos with plenty of toppings. My favorite part is the pickled onions on top. They were stingy with the avocado (two very thin, small slices), but there were enough toppings that it wasn't upsetting. When it's not busy the noise level isn't so bad, but when it's crowded it can be annoyingly noisy. Tonight was on the good side. We'll be back! read more

If it wasn't for the $1 beer deal they had going on, the stars would be lower. Jolly Pumpkin is a staple in Ann Arbor! Whereas so many other restaurants have come and gone in Ann Arbor, Jolly Pumpkin (affectionately known as "J Pumps" within my friend group) remains and it brings me comfort seeing it still standing every time I come and visit AA! I'm not going to lie though, after visiting the stunning Jolly Pumpkin on Old Mission Peninsula, Ann Arbor's location pales a bit in comparison in terms of view, ambiance, and environment. If you're ever in the Traverse City area, it is worth it to go up the peninsula to visit this J Pumps location because it's absolutely stunning. Food-wise, I mean...I strongly believe that ambiance does factor into how a meal tastes, so things just seem to taste better there vs. in Ann Arbor. I do think the menus are relatively consistent though! I will always get truffle fries here because there's truly nowhere that does truffle fries better. Not going to lie though, when I ordered the fries this time, they came out lukewarm at best! :( Still delicious, but the lack of freshness was notable. Other than that, the Ann Arbor location is its own vibe currently! With this part of Main Street closed, the patio spills into the street, which is great on good-weather days! My husband and I wanted to mix up our takeout/delivery routine during the holiday break. We realized that practically all we had in the house after a few days were sweets--cookies, cakes, and a little honey glazed ham leftovers. Scrolling through our options, I suggested Jolly Pumpkin, someplace we loved pre-pandemic but haven't done for carry out yet. My husband enthusiastically selected and we were off. We ordered through doordash and selected delivery. Within a half hour our food was at our door, piping hot and delicious. I ordered the chicken brie sandwich with truffle fries and my husband had the carnivore pizza and we got beignets to split for dessert. My sandwich was awesome. Chicken, brie, and apricot jam on a toasted sourdough (I think?). And the truffle fries? What a huge portion! And they were hot and crispy! So many times when you order fries to go/delivery they show up a little on the soft side due to condensation, but they've figured out how to make these nice and crisp. My husband loved his pizza and the next day I had a leftover slice for lunch and I agree--it was fantastic. The only thing that was a little disappointing were the beignets. Pretty sure they were just fried pizza dough nuggets rolled in sugar. Now, there's nothing wrong with that exactly. But that a beignet does not make. They were just a little too doughy and chewy for my liking. But everything else was excellent and I look forward to adding them to our rotation through the winter months! read more

Their happy hour pizzas are a great deal!! Happy hour runs from 4-6 pm, and you can't beat $10 pizza pies (10 inches). We got the truffle pizza, Popeye pizza, and South Pacific pizza. All three were good!! I prefer white pizzas though so I liked the truffle and popeye pizza more than the South Pacific, but if you like barbecue and/or Hawaiian pizza then the South Pacific is great!! I like how the popeye pizza had preserved lemons because it added brightness to the creamy and cheese-heavy pizza. But it was a bit heavy on the cheese, so that can be a pro or a con for some people. Out of my three friends, we all preferred a different pizza so it's all personal preference! But that just means that all of their pizzas are good. I personally liked the popeye pizza best. We sat upstairs and it had a really nice vibe and ambiance! I would recommend sitting upstairs if possible because there were windows and nice natural lighting. read more
