Last night we walked into this sports bar looking for a chill night and a good time. We traveled out of town for the game. The kicker: we were kicked out of the bar after a $400+ bill. We were in a larger group, and our waitress told us that we were being "too rowdy" and asked us to leave the bar. We were not causing any issues. My father spoke to the bar manager, who essentially told us we were overserved, being too rowdy, & proceeded to ask us to leave the bar. Service so terrible that other people in the bar were apologizing to us. We asked around and we were NOT causing issues. If you care about feeling safe, this is not the environment for you. The Westside is my go to bar in A2. The service, food, and drinks are consistent and it's a great place to watch sports. They have a separate dining room for families and large bar area with quite a few tables. There's also an outside patio dining area with overhead fans to keep you cool on a hot summer day. The menu is your typical bar food but a touch better. Burgers, sandwiches, and wraps have been a solid choice for me and my friends. I love their jumbo wings which aren't breaded. When I'm doing keto it's a safe choice to avoid carbs. I love their drink and shot menu. They come up with some interesting and tasty choices. My favorite is the Dirty Girl Scout with Bailey's, vodka, and Crème de Menthe. Tastes like a boozy Thin Mint! I was craving something a little bit different for lunchtime recently, and after a quick Yelp search, I came up with the Sports Bar Westside. With an easy to access location at Zeeb and Jackson, and a menu that looked to contain some healthier(ish) options, I was eager to try the place out. My partner in crime and I arrived just after 12 for a quick weekday bite. The restaurant was busy, but not too crowded, and we were able to grab a booth in the front. It wasn't long before a server came by our table, and we inquired about a few of the different wrap options. Neither of us could decide between 2 of the same wraps, so we did what we love to do when that happens: order one for me (Monterey) and one for him (Wrapito) and share. A bit later our wraps arrived, and we swapped out half of each to each other. Our server had said that the Monterey was the most popular, so I was eager to see if our tastes matched up to that. We both started with the Wrapito, and I loved the crunch of the chicken tenders and the hint of spice that this one offered. In comparison, surprisingly, the Monterey was a little bland. After we had both finished, I asked him which he liked best. "Actually, the Wrapito," he shrugged, and I agreed. When she brought our check, the server asked us the verdict, which we delivered with a shrug and a smile. I'm usually not too keen on sports bars, though felt like getting a sandwich and a beer when I was in the area around lunchtime and decided to give this place a try. Definitely worth a stop even for the non sports enthusiasts. Good draft beer selection, though the tap pulls show brewery names but not the name of the beer they're pulling. Would have been nice to have a draft menu. But I quickly confirmed the Dark Horse tap dispensed their Crooked Tree IPA and got one. I got the Monterey Wrap to eat, grilled chicken bits in a tortilla with grilled mushrooms, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and some kind of creamy sauce. Very enjoyable, with all ingredients in what seemed to me like just the right proportion. Service was friendly and fast. Overall atmosphere is very clean, fairly light. Wouldn't mind lingering a bit. Went there last night for the first time. I liked the atmosphere at the bar. Seemed like a great place to watch a game. We sat in a separate dining area inside. Outside seating would have been okay too. It's on the east side of the building so in the shade. The menu had a lot of options for a bar. Three of us got salads. I opted for their specialty- a BBQ chicken salad. The BBQ sauce dressing was a little heavy- should have asked for it on the side. But it was still good. Wife and son opted for the chop salad and they came loaded. Others ordered the salmon dinner and the patty melt. Got rave reviews from them. I'm normally not one for appetizers but my wife ordered the pizza Styx and they were delicious. Service was great. Our server was Vince maybe, or Vinny? He was never out of sight for very long, and he was patient and friendly. I gave him a good tip. It's not 5-star dining - but for a sports bar, I rate it pretty high. Myself and my wife have been here twice and - both this week. That kind of tells you something. We ate here Tuesday night and decided to come back for lunch today, Thursday. Both times we felt the whole experience was top notch. The bartenders were friendly and attentive and we enjoyed the food very much. For the Tuesday night dinner we each got the special - the 2XL burger and fries. They were really great burgers, large and with all the fixins. we upgraded from Fry's to one order of onion rings and one order of tater tots each had two 16oz. IPAs and still got out of there for only 50 bucks plus tip. Special shout out is an order for the bartenders (we sat at the bar both visits). Thursday evening we had the pleasure of being served by Alia -- and our very friendly bartender for this afternoon's lunch was Emma. They both made us feel welcome and appreciated. Emma didn't bat an eye when we ordered ice tea instead of alcohol (it was too early for a beer). We will be back. read more

Watched the Lions playoff games, and the UM games there, it is a great sports bar with lots of TVs. The food is typical bar food, sandwiches, burgers, apps, a few entrees and specials. It is all excellent, I usually get the chili and a salad , my guys get the chicken tenders which are crispy and juicy, the burgers are good, and also the pepperoni styx appetizer (garlic/parm rolls stuffed with pepperoni & mozzarella) is awesome. read more

We were driving by after exiting on the Zeeb Road exit on I-94 to Ann Arbor,MI, and saw a full parking lot full of cars. We decided to stop for dinner: Best fish fry ever !!! The fish was a special on Friday night, but I believe available on other nights. Three large pieces of cod were fried with a light batter to seal in their moist, clean non-greasy flavor. A helping of tartar sauce, a big scoop of coleslaw, and a bountifully portion of French fries provide a satisfying meal. My wife had a Slim Tim with sweet potato fries, which was also filling. The bar has TVs following multiple sports (Even a TV with sound in the Men's Toilet). The bar and restaurant can be noisy when filled up with unpretentious boisterous patrons - just what you need in an unfamiliar area. I stopped by a day or so ago to grab a few drinks and maybe an appetizer (super convenient, because I was shopping accross the street). The vibe seemed weird, BUT I was greeted by/served by a really friendly host/waitress!.... I had a few drinks (not bad), and I just when I was thinking of having an appetizer, I witnessed something very disturbing/uncomfortable. I saw a guy come in & say that he was interested in filling out an application, because he saw an ad on craigslist....The same friendly girl gave him an app......10 minutes later an abrasive-speaking lady comes from the back and asks in an unfriendly manner "what are you applying for?" I think he said server. She grabbed his app, took it to the back, came back 30 seconds later amd said "we'll call you if we need you!" This rubbed me the wrong way, it just didn't seem very pleasant, it wasn't busy, so that couldn't have been an excuse to be so rude. I closed out my tab, walked to my car and I saw the guy that just filled out an application sitting in his SUV.....I walked up to him (I'm such a humanitarian), we chatted and both agreed that the recent situation was rude/bizaar. Turns out that he is from California & used to bartend in Beverly Hills and serve Downtown Los Angeles, right by my old house (I used to live in L.A)!!! Wow! At least my husband and I made a new friend out of this experience! I will not be returning, especially since I checked craigslist (I'm a journalist and research for a living), saw the ad that was posted regarding the need to "round a new team up" and gear up for football season. We used to go to The Sports Bar all the time for one main reason.. it was the only bar in this area that had a golden tee mahine. They have now gotten rid of the Golden Tee machine and we have not been back since. Such a bummer. The food was decent bar food. Nothing outstanding. Never bad. Usually get the rueben or a burger. This is a very friendly bar. Great environment to chill, watch games, etc. Staff is great, especially the bar tenders. They remember all locals and long time customers. Drinks are cheap for it to be in a 16oz glass cup. Full bar so you can ask for the bartender to make what's drink of your desire. Food is also AMAZING. Ok...this is a "Sports Bar"... but everyone in the area knows this place as just the "Westside". Why put the "Sports Bar" in the name? It was 3:30 pm on a Saturday afternoon when we stopped in for a bite. The place is clean and well kept with plenty of wait staff for this slow time of the day. Their 25 plus flat screen TVs were predominantly showing a World Cup match with Ghana kicking Germany's butt. The Westside has pretty much a typical "Sports Bar" menu with your wings, salads, sliders and bugers du jour. I grabbed a Patty Melt with grilled onions and 'shrooms on grilled rye with a draft while my wife tried the grilled chicken on an onion roll. Both sandwiches were above average and cooked to order. The Westside is not going to knock your socks off but it will consistently give you a very good burger and beer for ten buckeroos. read more

This restaurant (?) / sports bar (?) lacks a clear identity and is caught between trying to lure in sports fans while also trying to attract families for a nice dinner out. The gf and I came on a Friday night and found the place to be quite mediocre. The service was extremely slow with wait staff who failed to stop by our table after we were seated and when we wanted to pay the check, and the food we ordered (nachos and prime rib) were just average. While the nacho plate was a big portion, there were too many veggies on top, the chicken soggy, and the plate lacked any sour cream or guacamole. As for the prime rib, the meat was extremely fatty and I couldn't even bring myself to finish half of the cut. While I've heard good things about this place from past co-workers, I will be looking for good bar food somewhere else. read more

This was the first time that I've been here since it was named Banfield's and this was several years ago. My party and I were seated promptly. The menu was easy to read, not overwhelming with an excess of options. I ordered the Grilled Chicken version of a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich and finished every last bite. The picky eaters in my party received their orders just as they had customized them, in a reasonable amount of time. Lastly, the beer selection seemed diverse enough to satisfy most any taste. read more

Came in here last Saturday afternoon. It was my first time here. Place kinda has a feel like it should be up north and on the water or something. Maybe it's the blue walls and low ceiling behind the bar, I'm not sure. We split the club sandwich and the patty melt. Both were excellent. If I had to choose one of the two to order again, I'd go with the patty melt. One of us got fries, the other got chips. Chips were standard bag chips, so keep that in mind when you're deciding whether or not to upgrade to fries. Fries were solid as was the ranch dressing. Overall a good experience. I gotta say it, I freaking love this place. Even though it is totally not the type of place I usually frequent it has what we need sometimes: great, friendly service; delicious burgers; and a good beer list. I live in walking distance and have walked, biked, or driven on the way to someplace else. I always know that I'm going to be able to get a quick, fairly priced meal that is quick but that if I just want to hang out chatting over a few post dinner beers no one is going to rush me. Whether they are crazy busy or empty, service is consistent and dependable. My favorite times to come in are during UM basketball and Tigers games - the tvs are tuned to the game and the whole place is excited. This place was far better before as Banfields West side. New management has changed this place for the worst. The menu has minimal options and nothing seems to jump out at you as a true specialty to need to come back and get. Wait staff seems OK, bar staff needs a bit of help, needs more of a selection of beers. And my biggest gripe was that the managers were not aware of the laws in michigan (even though they are licensed under the liquor control board) about open carry of a firearm being legal in a bar with a CPL even after being handed a printout of the michigan penal code laws by me. And no I was not drinking or planning on it. The manager said he was aware of the laws and that it was legal to open carry but that there was an update to this law (there has not been any changes to this law since michigan state police legal update 86 written on October 26th, 2010) and still asked me to cover it up and I informed him that I was not able to do that as that would mean that I would then be breaking the law as having a concealed pistol in a pistol free zone. He was polite about it and I told him that I could put my pistol in my truck since he asked as an employee of the business. Side notes, if I had refused his request that is grounds for a trespassing violation/arrest. Open carry of a firearm has been legal since the states founding in 1837, but recognized as a necessity for survival even before that. I explained to him that it was sad that I have open carried everyday anywhere I go anyplace in the entire state of michigan for the past 10+ years and have never been asked to hide or remove my weapon. If the management finds it a problem then they should post signs out front that say no firearms/weapons allowed like any other competent business who feels this way and would not have to deal with this kind of situation. Had it not been for a birthday celebration of my best friend with other friends (from out of state) in our home town they would not have had my business at all. But needless to say they have lost my future business and that of members of the MOC and MCRGO. Again even in retrospect taking the open carry of a firearm out of the equation I would still not be giving this business my money in the future due to lackluster food/service/food choices. My Trout Unlimited chapter has been having our board meetings here for the past few months. The bar is very accommodating and has let us use their back room for about a dozen members. No hassle with separate checks. The food is good and varied and a reasonable price so no one feels a stretch. The service is always friendly and attentive . This is a bar. It does its trick. There are always two seats available at the bar and I must say the margarita quite plainly knocked me on my ass and that is very hard to do so this is why this bar is given five stars and it's very easy to go smoking they even have these cute little signs that you can put by your drink a Plus read more
