This was the first and only barber that I've been to in the Kent area, and I'm lucky to have stopped by when I first moved to the area. I've been going here for four years since, and I've had an excellent haircut every single time. Haircut is always as requested, and I really appreciate that Klay takes his time to make sure everything is done well. Also was super nice when Klay remembered me after coming here several times, and remembered the exact cut that I get! There usually is a bit of a wait during peak times (the wait is still absolutely worth it), but the atmosphere is great, and there is usually a movie playing in the background to help pass the time. I've been going to Klay Frazier since 1997 when he was at Ink's barbershop. Since then I've lived all over the country and cannot find a barber as good as Klay. I just wait until i come home to Cleveland to get my haircut. I love that when i sit in his chair all i have to say is "make me look good" and he handles the rest. I saw some other reviews about people saying Klay is a racist or hates Army vets. I am a mixed race Air Force veteran. And while i am very liberal in my political views and Klay may be conservative, we have disagreed on topics but Klay has never disrespected me in the 22 years I've known him. Unfortunately we live in a time where we as a society dont think, talk, and reason with others who have different views and life experiences. Klay actually doesn't like to talk politics, but its a barber shop. Its going to come up. If you want a great haircut from a decent guy visit Frazier's. I arrived to this shop about an hour and 10 minutes before it closed. Place was empty, except for one guy already in a chair and looking almost finished. The barber told me he couldn't take anymore customers because he wouldn't have time. Maybe it's me, but I've never had it take an house to trim my hair up. Will not go back. If he can't do a cut/trim in an hour, then he's not good enough. Edit: In a response from this owner, it has become clear that he dislikes Army veterans due to him being a Marine, and allegedly he served in Desert Storm and Desert Shield so he can make blanket statements about hating other veterans from other branches. Recently moved to Kent area and decided to get a cut at Frazier's Barber Shop. Klay knew the exact cut that suited me and executed it to perfection (shadow fade). So, I found Frazier's by accident and by looking on Yelp. I had been looking for a barbershop in the Kent area, for 2yrs after moving here from Cleveland. It was getting a little expensive to drive to Cleveland to get my haircut and my barber Maria got really sick and was hit or miss for a long time. I needed a decent old school barbershop and I found that in Frazier's. Frazier's is a good old school Barbershop. Siccors, trimmer and straight razor. Klay and Matt aka the Old Man and Stoic, do a great job on cutting hair. Note this is an old school Barbershop. Klay, knows how to keep things PG-13 when there are children and women in the shop. If you want a cappuccino, hug and to discuss your feels, this isn't the barbershop for you. You like old school conversation, and a really good hair cut. Go see Klay and Matt. You won't be disappointed. I measure a good haircut (Matt, just today cut my hair), by how my wife greets me after getting my haircut. If she thinks I look good then that's a good cut and my wife likes the cut and so, do I. Again, Klay and Matt do a great job. I've found a real great old school Barbershop that I like. I was sick of the high turnover in places like Lady Janes, and hated getting a slightly different haircut every time I went to a Great Clips. All I wanted was to find a barber (a real one) who actually knew what he was doing. Klay Frazier is the real deal. After you've been there a few times, Klay remembers your name and your haircut. There's always a movie playing, and the place is immaculately clean. The last time I went to a barber shop that did work this good, it was a place about 10 minutes from an Air Force base. Klay's prices are more than fair for the quality of his work. Tip: this is an actual barber shop that does outstanding work. Came here for my first cut in 3 years. Never had my hair cut by anyone other than my mom, who mostly worked with my super long hair. Does not follow advertised hours, very unprofessional, this has been ongoing. I have waited to leave a bad review hoping it was a fluke. Excuses are like rearends, we all have one and they all stink. They are most certainly not open during advertised hours the majority of the time. I have tried to drop in or call in a dozen times in the last 6 months, never once has the door been unlocked, never once has the phone been answered. You did call back and leave a voice-mail berating me for calling you out on this once before, and apparently I'm not the only one you've done that to judging by recent reviews. You should change your business to reflect "by appointment only" to avoid more poor reviews if you're going to consistently decide to open the doors 2 or 3 hours late, if you even open at all. Unprofessional and inexcusable, it is baffling as to how you've stayed in business at all. I wait to leave bad reviews until I feel there is no other option. This 1 star has long since been earned, at least the chain locations are consistently open and don't make excuses for when they are not. Sad pathetic excuses at that. I got 1 great haircut there 2 years ago, nothing but issues since. Very unprofessional. Being good at what you do but being bad at running a business does not excuse you from poor reviews. Nor does it make up for the fake reviews you post to counter the bad reviews you've received. The owner handles criticism very poorly as well. Nice shop, nice barber. Klay has an insanely good memory, so after you've been in once or twice he'll recognize you right away. Hard to spot from the road as its sign is shared with another business -- its right next to Campus Camera. Haircuts are great and at a fair price. Couldn't really ask for anything better. This was the first barber I tried in Kent (had to find a new place after Jim's burnt down in Garrettsville), and I've had no reason to look elsewhere. read more

Due to the larger number of hipsters walking around Kent, it is hard to find a traditional barber that know what they're doing. I have been looking for a barber shop with that "Back-Home" east coast feel and this is by far the best that the Midwest has to offer in the Kent area. The guys (Clay & Javier) are great. They give you the look you ask for. Being on a college campus, these guys are skilled in their craft and are used to clipping guys from all ethnic backgrounds. Irish, Black or Mexican, they will make you look good. Oh, and they have a flat-screen to watch sports or whatever while you're waiting and getting cut and it seems like there is never a shortage of conversation. Child-friendly.
