I heard this place had great hot dogs, so while out doing errands, my husband and i decided to stop in and check it out. I'm a big Dari-o hot dog fan so I was going to do some major comparisons. First of all, this place should be registered as an historical site ! Major blast from past vibe. They have free popcorn too and mini ice cream parlor in the back, which I thought was very cool and I'll try next time. Now for the dogs. They grill their buns which I always appreciate, the hot dog could have used a lil more slaw but no biggie, and the hot dog itself had a good taste. Tasted more like a traditional hot dog. I came in here for the first time with three friends. I'd driven by many times, and finally for to try the food. This place is small-ish, but still has decent space for tables. The staff were friendly and bustling. I ordered a basic bacon cheese burger and fries. Both were pretty good. The burgers are juicy and messy, tasty. The fries were nicely seasoned too. I've never been inside, but the drive-through process is pretty simple! I've always been 2nd or 3rd in line and a worker comes to the car to take my order so it's ready when I arrive at the window. It's definitely made fresh because it's always piping hot! I have tried their chicken fries, mozzarella sticks, and fries and they've been very tasty! Since I was already in the area to try a Mexican breakfast dish at Frank's Kitchen, I took the opportunity to grab a dog or two from here. I picked up two dogs - 1 all the way, and another without slaw - cost was $5, and this included tax!! You probably would feel like you just climbed out of a DeLorean when you visit King's. It has been around for a while, but there is nothing wrong with that and the food was excellent. We stopped in on Saturday afternoon for a hot dog lunch. So the price for 3 hot dogs with slaw and mustard, large fries (which are seasoned), and a medium drink...under $10. We stopped by specifically for hot dogs. Service is fast and there is plenty of inside seating. My husband really enjoyed his food, I thought it was fine. I was really disappointed with the fries. They were limp and barely warm. I should have taken them back and asked for freshly cooked ones so it's my own fault I couldn't enjoy them. However, this was a real negative for me. A business saves no money by trying to not waste a hand full of product by passing off poor quality to paying customers. That cost them returning business. I can't believe I haven't tried King's Hot Dogs before! It's such a quick drive from Winston Salem and I'm always looking for a good hot dog joint. Kings is just a hole in the wall place with friendly staff and good hot dogs. They have lots of toppings to choose from which I love since I don't usually like my hot dogs Carolina Style. The fries are the frozen crinkle cut variety, but they are served well seasoned and hot. I can't tell you how many orders of onion rings I saw coming out the day I was there but I'm definitely going to order them the next time I come. They looked amazing! I also tried the hamburger. It was just OK. I took a couple bites but didn't eat the rest. I think the hot dogs are definitely the star here. I topped my meal off with some apple bites. I was surprised how really tasty they were! I expected some mediocre apple gel filled pastry but what so got were tender little pastry pillows filled with apples and topped with cinnamon. They were definitely worth every delicious calorie. I am a Kings Hot Dogs fan for life. I love the subtle humor all over the restaurant too! Love those T-Shirts("Stop staring at my Weiner!")! King's certainly has bravado for their hot dogs, which they broadcast via t-shirts and signs laden with sexual innuendo ("Keep your hands off my buns", "Stop staring at my wiener", "A treat from the teat",..."). But all these gaudy attempts at being amusing do not translate into a product that is anything better than middling. Prince dog: 1/4 pound all beef dog was noticeably tough and chewy, especially the exterior. Was it old? Flavor was just ok, pretty inferior for an all beef dog. Chili was decent, slaw was good, mustard and onions were lost. Bun was nicely toasted but was way too big and bready. Hot dog: I actually like their regular wiener better than the all beef wiener. That is not something that can be said very often, but it is true here. Otherwise, it was the same situation as the Prince dog in terms of accompaniments. Cheeseburger: decently charred but was typical food service fare--mild flavor with nothing special. Cheese was good and bun was nicely toasted. Fries: thin crinkle type...well, they just tasted strange. Something was off with the oil, the potato quality, or something. In summary, King's exhibits a great deal of fuss and fanfare about their food. But it is not justified. read more

I called and told them I would be delayed, and when I arrived, They remade the order and comped my food to me and told me they hope that made my day better, I have never seen better customer service or more nice bunch of people. Kings hot dogs is a pretty good restaurant just depending on your hotdog preferences. Some of my favorite items are the ham and cheese melt, the apple bites, and the hot dogs when I'm in the mood for one. Compared to other local hotdog restaurants their hotdogs are a little more sour tasting compared to sweet (Dario). Nevertheless the food is good and prices on the menu include tax which makes for easy ordering and paying. I just moved to town and stopped at this cute hot dog joint. Now it is my favorite hot dog joint. Every time someone comes to visit me this is where we take a trip to. King's is always delicious and I have never had a bad experience. The workers are helpful and always have a smiling face. Not to mention, who doesn't love a hotdog? Best double cheeseburger I've ever had not made at home....so worth every penny and calorie!

I went here for lunch yesterday between my shifts. It's was your typical mom and pop old school hot dog joint. Very clean inside and the staff was really friendly. There were older women cooking the hot dogs in the back and I saw one of them baste the bun in butter and toast it in a skillet..that told me this place was going to be pretty good lol. I got the Special of the Day which was 2 hot dogs, fries, and a drink for $5.75. Not bad. I got my hot dogs all the way, with chili, cheese, mustard, onions, and slaw. They were very flavorful, and delicious and not to mention the buns were toasted lol. The fries were "okay." Not piping hot so I could tell they had been out a while. You also get the styrofoam cup for your drink which gives it that "hole in the wall" feel. One cool things they have is a popcorn machine that you can self serve which is totally free while you wait for your order to be called. I did not get any as I had not noticed it on the other side of the restaurant until I was about to leave (should have got some to go!). They have ice cream as well and about 8-10 flavors as well. Their menu is on these two flat screen TV's and everything is reasonable for the price. I would come back here as it's nice for a quick lunch. I wanted to put 0 on this review, but it won't allow me too. My family of 4 stopped for hot dogs. I ordered 4 footlong combo's paid $37.00 (tried to upload the reciept as proof but it wouldn't allow me to do so) for which we've been here several times before with no issues. However, this time all of it was straight trash. Absolutely disguisitng to the point we were unable to eat it. I had already made it home, so I called and spoke with a manager and took the food back the next day along with the proof of what I paid. I didn't request a refund, I asked for a order of 10 wings which is way less. They gave me 5 wings and I said I suppose to get 10. Then another manager said she told the cook to only give me 5 after she agreed on 10, Totally unacceptable. So I told them both never mind I just will not ever come back to their establishment again. Got home and the wings were cooked in bad grease and burnt had to throw it away inedible. Poor quality food and Poor management.
