My husband and I stopped in just to look around bc we were intrigued by some of the stuff in the window and ended up getting a couple things for us and a couple things for our friends. This is my favorite store to buy beach clothes from a local company. I go back every time I come to visit and always recommend this location in Clearwater Beach to my friends, as they have the best selection and really fun beach clothing. The customer service has always been good, but I have to give a big thanks to Emma, who gave my wife and me the best, most fun and friendly service I think we have ever had anywhere. If we had a local business there, we would be trying to steal Emma away from Freaky Tiki to come make our customers feel the way she made us feel. I love this store. I have been in twice in the last week.. and I live here! The girls who work there are so helpful and the collection is great! I love the smaller room off to the side. Their clothes are so cute and fashionable. They have things for beach style and for dressing up. They also have the classic tourist stuff too. Every time I go to Clearwater or St Pete Beach I stop in Freaky Tiki to take a look at their new t-shirts. I particularly like that the designs are made locally. The drawings that are classic and show the young mermaid are my favorite t-shirts. And I also like the men's shirt with the old diver and tentacles drawing. I like the fabrics because they are so soft and last and don't stretch or shrink so that makes me want to get another shirt every time. read more

Horrible store management. They told us a hoodie with a broken zipper and then would not provide a refund. Instead, they put it back on a hanger and put it on the shelf. Young looking manager was very rude. We have bought a lot of items from this store in the past. Never again. And will tell everyone we know about this experience. read more

I'm with the others on this place in terms of service...it's a small store, I get it, and you have to look out for shoplifters, however I don't like being watched while I shop, plus the girls in here were far from friendly. This place left a bad taste in my mouth... just something off about it. Sure, they have all kinds of cute things, and I wanted to buy something that had "Freaky Tiki" on it, so I bought myself a pair of shorts. This isn't your typical souvenir shop, but it's worth stopping in to check out if you don't mind the semi-annoying staff as they are a turn off to this place. If you make a purchase, you can get 10% off at Pacific down the street, from what I was told it was a higher end place. This is a very cute surf shop on the main street along Clearwater Beach. They have very cute and reasonable beach clothes. My favorite is all the beach and summer dresses from the line called "Ocean Drive". They run around $30. My husband bought a pair of Sanuk sandals, which are very squishy and comfortable. I have never encountered rude staffs at Freaky Tiki. They were all helpful to us. I guess maybe we were lucky and had nice people that day??? I don't know but I always stop by this place when in Clearwater beach. read more

Wow! Now, this is no shack. It is a super well thought out cool t-shirt and clothes store...they have some sweet little dresses as well as a TON of Freaky Tiki screenprinted shirts and hoodies...they are NOT the typical beach screenprint shop with neon and 8 colors on your shirt. They are COOL. Hip, on trend. And decently priced $18-$25 for nice slim fit shirts. My husband and I were visiting Clearwater Beach and doing some window shopping. Freaky Tiki was the one place that we went back to after visiting all of the others. They have really cute "Freaky Tiki" t-shirts. We bought a mermaid one for my daughter. It was a little pricier than the other places on the beach but a much better quality shirt and a really cool design. My husband loved the clothes at this shop. So much so that he would have bought way more if I would have let him. Anyway, he picked up a pretty cool button-down shirt and was very happy with it. We didn't interact with the salespeople at all (and we visited twice) except for at the register. That's fine with me, since I like to be left alone when I shop, but I can understand the negative reviews regarding the service. If you're a tourist and you don't want to look too touristy, then this is probably the shop for you. read more

While I don't remember if there were any discerning qualities between this place and all the rest, the name is better (Freaky Tiki is a much better name than Surf Style), and I found some very comfortable flip flops here. This small shop is located right by Shepard's Beach Resort. It is very small on the inside and a little pricey, but to be expected in a tourist town. They had some unique items and clothing which was fun to look at, but the price tags..... ouch. The person working was very nice, asked if he could help us but didn't hover or make us feel like we were thieves. We purchased a shot glass for my MIL who is a collector, and my stepdaughters grabbed a nice pair of sunglasses. Worth poking your head in to browse. read more

Love the unique graphics on the super soft Tshirts! Tshirts run VERY fitted. Customer service is A++!! I had to return a tshirt via mail from Chicago to Florida and the shop staff was so sweet in how they handled the exchange!! They sent a little goodie package back to me along with my new tshirt! Things like that just don't happen these days. SUCH a treat!!! I will be back to buy more next year for sure! Would love it if the website got back up to working order. I purchased a pair of Sanuk Sandals from the Freaky Tiki Surf Shack while on vacation. I wore the sandals for ONE day and the top lining of the sandal started to peel and gave me a blister on the bottom of my foot. The receipt I have, clearly states "No returns, Exchange only with sales receipt, 30 days exchange period." Since I had only wore the sandals for one day, I brought the sandals back for an exchange. The manager, Ethan, proceeded to tell me that the sandals were "Final Sale." I told him that this receipt does not say any items are final sale, he did not tell me when I purchased the item that it was final sale, and there were no signs anywhere in the store stating the sandals were final sale. He said the item was "wear and tear" and he would not take it back. Aren't most items wear and tear?! He refused to exchange my sandals even though the receipt and store policy clearly stated that I had a right to exchange them. He proceeded to laugh at me for "making such a big deal about $32." Since he said he was the manager, I asked who the owner of the store was and he smirked and pointed at himself. Feeling helpless I left the store and tried to call the police but they told me they could not enforce store policy. This was, BY FAR, my worst experience with a return/exchange and an extremely disrespectful and unprofessional store manager. And now I am stuck with a pair of sandals I cannot wear, and a store I will NEVER return to. ALMOST ALL THE STORES ON MANDALAY AVE SELL THE SAME ITEMS, I WOULD RECOMMEND PURCHASING YOUR ITEMS FROM ANY OF THE OTHERS STORES IN THE AREA. AVOID THIS STORE AT ALL COSTS OR YOU WILL BE TAKING A RISK AND MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO EXCHANGE SOMETHING IF IT BREAKS, EVEN THOUGHT THE STORE POLICY SAYS YOU CAN. The selection is pretty good, but service is horrible! We walked in last night to look around and two employees stood in a doorway which separates the two sides of the store. They talked to each other the whole time, didn't acknowledge us even as we walked between them a couple of times to go from one side of the store to the other. I am a local here and I've lived here for 6 years and I just recently discovered this adorable place ! This "surf shack" is very beachy and down to earth which is what makes it one of my favorite shopping destinations on the beach. My granddaughter lives in Virginia and I found her the cutest "karma" tank that fits her personality perfectly. The sizing run very small but the lovely girls that work here helped me to pick the right size. The customer service is great. The girls give you your space to shop but are very helpful and happy to help when asked. I will continue to return to the freaky tiki to shop when I go to the beach ! read more

I purchased 3 shirts here recently and Eric the sale person forgot to remove the security device from one of the shirts. When I returned to the store with the receipt to have it removed there appeared to be a small hole where the device was located. I was honest with Eric and told him that my son may have tried to remove the device to save us a timely trip to the store. Eric then became rude and told me that he would not do an exchange. After a heated discussion with him he then preceded to reattach the device back on to my shirt. At this point I was so frustrated I told him to stop what he was doing and I left the store. They are a refreshing change from all the stores that sell the same cheesy beachy crap. I've seen some bad reviews on service, but I've been twice now and had the complete opposite experience. Manager was absolutely wonderful, we purchased a tank top and it was on the clerance rank but didn't have a tag, she accidentally charged 14.95 instead of the 9.99 it was labeled for, I went back into the store and she was incredibly polite and apologized like 3 times and refunded the correct about! Best customer service I have ever received on Clearwater and will definitely return to this store for any further clothing purchases!!!!! Loved her to death!! read more
