This probably sounds like over-reach, but I'll say it anyway…read more.. Dr. Melvin gave me my life back. 23 years ago, suffering from major depression, I decided I needed help and chose to find professional help. The first two psychiatrists I contacted tried "quick fixes", and when they didn't help much, they went no further. The a friend recommended Dr. Melvin. My first impression when meeting him was a demeanor of calm professionalism, and and obvious drive to help me with my problem. After a substantial discussion of my symptoms, he decided that medication was the best choice for me. We tried 3 different anti-depressants, all offered some, but not significant help for my depression...but Dr. Melvin did not give up. He suggested a rather obscure "old school" anti-depressant that he had found was sometimes effective when the more recent medications were not. I knew within 2 hours after taking this that my solution had been found. I was so profoundly moved that it was hard to control my emotions. I felt good for the first time in several years. And this has continued, with this medication, for the last 23 years, really the best years of my life. Maybe some other psychiatrist would have been persistent like Dr. Melvin, but maybe not...and I would be where I was 23 years ago. I hardly ever write this sort of thing. But it occurred to me that there might be someone out there like me who needs someone with his skills to solve there problem. Thank you, Dr. Melvin

How badly this provider fell in such a short time is something that needs to be studied for the…read morebooks, if you ask me. When I started out going here, I thought it was pretty decent, generally-speaking; the first therapist I had paired pretty well and helped me a good bit with some of my problems, and I got introduced to medication that's still helping alleviate my depression to this day. Unfortunately, I'd say things started going downhill when the therapist I liked having suddenly left and then was replaced with a new one who I found to be far worse. Where my previous therapist clearly did care and could come up with more things to discuss if I was having trouble coming up with that myself, this new one felt like she was only there to basically take my money and leave. A lot of the advice the new therapist gave me felt flat and honestly rather uncaring, and there were even times where she would prematurely end the call if I was at a loss on what to discuss next. While I am aware I still share some of that responsibility at the end of the day, it still felt incredibly insulting and a waste of invoice, to say the least. Even worse, the medication I need for my depression kept not getting filled out to my pharmacy regularly, and it would sometimes be locked behind follow-up appointments, as well. It was bad enough that there were some periods where not only did I have to rely on temporary refills until I could secure an appointment, but I even had no medication at all! While it is of course still part of the patient's responsibility to keep up, to let regular refills fall to the wayside so often is a recipe for disaster, if you ask me. All in all and especially given recent news, I am not at all surprised that this practice filed for bankruptcy and is going to close and transfer to a new practice (Altavera Behavioral Health) come August. I feel awful for the genuine workers who might lose their jobs because of this, and hopefully they can get picked up by other practices that are hopefully leagues upon leagues more competent than CEH was.

The WORST of the worst. Good luck trying to get a phone call back or even an email. I can certainly…read moreunderstand if you are understaffed, but that does not make it okay to treat clients like they are scum and ignore their calls and emails for MONTHS. Quite icky if I do say so myself.
