Either the pumps just have cones in front of them or when you pull up the people working there are just sitting around smoking and eventually come up to your car to tell you that their pumps are on a cycle and they shut off at some irregular time throughout the night and they won't be able to pump your gas. Actually, what I was told was that "We can't pump your gas because the pumps will just shut off half way through" THEN I was told that "The pumps are on a system that only takes about 15 minutes" ands THEN I was told that "No, actually we won't be open til 4:00 AM" which was about 45 minutes from that time. If you do manage to get gas chances are the person who pumps it is rude, and half the time you can't even tell who works there cause they wear regular clothes (which wouldn't be an issue but I've seen more put together homeless people). The only reason I'd ever go to this place is location since it used to be the only place open 24 hours other than the gas station on 170th, but the gas station on 185th recently became 24 hours and they're way better and not that far and at least you're guaranteed gas when you go there.

Since self-service has been made available in Oregon, I do tend to hit that side and pump my own gas. Employees do constantly check on self-service users to make sure they are doing alright and if not, they assist without hesitation. What I found that really helps get through the self-service pumps is to use the Kroger-Pay inside the Fred Meyer app. It is way easier than using their slow computer screens on the pump, it takes in account your reward points and charges the credit card you have setup in the app. I can start pumping in usually a few seconds after I add the pump number. This also works if you go to full-service and the attendants love it when you do. Lastly the price at Fred Meyer is not as good as Costco, but the lines can be shorter, and it is usually cheaper than any other place nearby.

Even when we were the most tragic as far as the gas prices go, I was still way less at the pump than most cars since I have had 7 gallon tanks. I still tried to go back and forth between gas points pricing at Fred Meyer and my Costco membership... I refuse to negotiate getting cash to try to save money going to Arco since you then have to deal with going to (AND INTO SINCE CASH WHICH ADDS TO THE FUCK NO) and also dealing with the folks who angrily work and Arco and discover why they are so mad since you also get to deal with the other customers. I then started doing delivery driving so I am not just filling my tank a whole lot more BUT I need to watch my money more and am EVERYWHERE. Of course there are many main streets which I am often on. But I see A LOT of gas stations and notice the price differences which are pretty sizeable. There are certain gas stops which just have better prices. I filled up at what I thought was the lowest (Astro) and five minutes later I drive past Space Age which was nearly ten cents cheaper! SHOCKING... but instead of plugging in Astro first I go for Space Age. I did exactly that this time and then discovered this gas station was so close for so long that I genuinely just found the other day. Even better is that people in Oregon are not used to self serve so they all sit in line waiting for someone to do it for them. Take advantage while you can, like I did and roll right up to a self service pump and then out. Unlike Astro, they have a snack station too. I cannot report on that as I just grabbed some gas.
