Just had the worst service ever yesterday. The guy running the self checkout needs to find other employment. He didnt fix the issue with the item ringing wrong then he canceled the entire transaction so I had to ring everything again and then somehow my rewards number wasnt added then he had the nerve to blame me. Nope. Listen to what im telling you and do your job. I want points added to my rewards account and I need a refund for the crap sushi that I bought where there was no protein and the rice was old and disgusting. Such a sad turn of events. Hello Fred Meyer. I plan my shopping trips carefully before hitting your store. I do an excel spreadsheet to make sure I know how much my haul will cost because I have a hard time reading your receipts to make sure I got all the discounts. Fred has lots of deals buy 5 save $1 each, digital coupons and the boost program. I like the challenge of doing my excel spreadsheet sheet and watching YouTube videos on kroger ads and deals before shopping. I usually save 58 percent on my haul when I shop at your store, but I plan carefully. When I do mess up a haul I go to customer service and explain what I did wrong they help me correct it. Fred's has wide self checkout lanes that are always clear of carts making checkout out for seniors and customers with mobility issues safe and easy. Fred Meyer is a great addition to our community. This Fred Meyer's is so close to me, and I've been shopping at various Fred Meyer stores for many years, starting in the Seattle area. I've always loved Freddy's, but this store in Lacey, WA has gone downhill, dramatically. A few recent observations: occasionally, I go to the Pharmacy first thing in the AM when they open. The store must not do any cleaning overnight because the floor in the pharmacy waiting area is FILTHY (dust, things people have dropped on the floor, etc) -- it's not a one-off -- it's always like this. They now have security "gates," By the pharmacy entrance, you have to exit through the gate on the left, yet the doors just beyond that gate do not open automatically. If you want the doors to open automatically, as you're pushing your cart filled with groceries, you have to veer over to the right, which is actually an entrance. It's extremely awkward! This is also the area where seniors from various retirement homes enter & exit the store -- their bus waits at that location. I did call, at one point, and spoke to a manager to express my frustration. He agreed it was a problem. So WHY NOT FIX IT??? Another observation -- I still like to use the sanitary wipes by the door to wipe the cart, but the last couple times I've shopped, the wipes were empty, and no one really seems to care when you mention it. And, finally, for now, I usually go to self-check. There recently have been 2 different self-check cashiers that were wearing some extremely nauseating "perfume" -- something like Patchouli that makes me want to vomit. I've had many different jobs in my life, and most work places ask employees not to wear perfume/scents to work. Some people are actually allergic; some just can't stand the smell. I'm really bummed that I feel I need to take the time to write this. Mostly, I'm hoping a manager reads this and makes some improvements, so that this becomes a pleasant place to shop again. read more

TLDR; I don't enjoy shopping there as much anymore. All the security measures are a real bummer. The prices and sales can be obnoxious. I shop there (less frequently) because they have a decent variety of goods. -1 since it has become sketchy looking and is not the vibe I enjoy while I'm shopping. The security guards, gates at the doors, locked bathrooms, shutting most of the doors at 8 PM, annoying blue blinking lights in the parking lot. No tables or chairs to eat a snack. You can't buy any health or beauty items without paying in their weird little plexiglass room first. More and more merchandise is locked behind glass doors. Slows the trip down. +1: I shop in Tumwater and Lacey often enough to stock up on the actual good sales +2 It has a decent variety of grocery, beauty and home goods. -1 a lot of their prices and sales have become absolutely ridiculous. My favorite was when you could buy a bag of chips for around $6 or you could buy four bags at $3 each or something. I'm a single person and I'm not eating four bags of chips. So why should I have to pay double for one bag? I see a lot of this happening now. Plus, I recently I tried to scan a coupon with the app and realized it was a special membership deal only. I'm guessing you had to pay for whatever program that was. read more

With how close it is to the transit centre, this Fred Meyer acts as the go-to store for people who are between buses. The problem is, this place is terrible at that job. Once I was in need of a charger, and they only had the expensive Apple brand chargers. They didn't have any cheap off-brands like Walmart, Target, and some gas stations do. Do you think we're all made of money? It's not that hard to stock an alternative under $30 when competitors have options that are only $10. You're not bougie. You're not Haggen. And don't get me started on the bathrooms. I've stayed in hostels and shitty motels, slept at Truck stops, been to the houses of some very messy people, used the most worn-down park and beach restrooms, and used the glorified porta-potties on planes and trains. In none of those places did I feel as unclean as I did using that bathroom. Not to mention that one of the sinks trickles like a weak showerhead while the other gushes out water like a hose without a fucking nozzle, and neither actually gets your hands clean because there's never any soap. read more

If you are not white, expect security to follow you around the store. I noticed a trend a few months ago where as soon as I would walk in, a call would go out over the intercom to send security to "X" area, and within minutes, security along with a store cashier would show up and shadow me until I checked out. So I stopped shopping there and took my business to Albertsons, where I can shop without being racially profiled. The Olympia store is just as bad. I want to like this store cause in general I like fredmeyers but in the past year it's gotten so.... sketchy and grungy. They now lock their bathrooms and make it so difficult to get a code. Workers their get mad at you for asking and/or give you the wrong code. On top of that they now have a gate to let you in/out (which really seems like a safety hazzard) and when did they stop letting you combine months of points for gas? We've been shopping Fred Meyer since it was built. They have had several remodels and many loyal employees we've come to know and appreciate. It didn't help that the homeless camp moved in down the street in 2019, but thankfully has moved making it somewhat safer to shop and walk in from the parking lot. The parking lot still, is much safer early in the day - and I suggest never going after dark. Our last 2 trips to FM have been such a disappointment. Essentially customer service is no longer a priority. About 10 days ago, I cheerfully greeted one checker, who was standing by the cash register waiting for "customers"...NO RESPONSE. Not, 'hello', not "you need a bag?" NOTHING. No facial expression. NOTHING. As if I was invisible, though he started ringing up the items. I had a small cart and was purchasing several "containers", which I stacked one inside the other on the check stand to be rung up. The checker, just randomly put them in the cart, though at one point, I asked him to wait a minute so they could be stacked (so they wouldn't fall), while he just continued putting them in the cart while I was working to contain them (there were maybe 4 items). He heard me. He just didn't care. Obviously hated his job, or just hated people. Who knows? He never spoke a word to me. Yesterday, I was in line with Rhayne, who expressed how much he hated his job. He complained to the people in front of me the entire time he was ringing up their groceries. He talked about the "sh*tty ergonomics" in detail, how they were better at the Tumwater FM, dropped papers, swore while picking them up, and continued his rant when it was my turn. He dropped the papers again, and I suggested he put them in the drawer where he wouldn't bump into them. Problem solved. He said thanks, but went on complaining about the job, swearing now and again, but at least wished me a good day. I just said I hoped his day would go better and that he could find a job that wasn't as difficult on him physically. It was exhausting to listen to him. On another practical note: Comparison shopping another grocery store with Freds, I can report that Fred Meyer is significantly more expensive, even with the membership AND coupons for frequently purchased items. An Example is: Best Foods Mayo: FM: $6.99 on sale. Other store today: $5.99. Avacados are 1.50 less for the same size HASS brand at the other retailer. Comparing dairy prices, generally speaking, are also pricier at Freds. Comparison shop the items YOU buy - especially in this current environment. C'mon Fred Meyer, Lacey. Do better. The fact that the meat department is okay with doing this is down right disgusting! If you're buying the short ribs (flanken) do yourself a favor and buy 2 packs. The front row is full and beautiful looking... the second row behind is scraps. They're sold in a container with 1 row over another. The rib pictured on the right was in a row of 5 similar in size placed over the one on the left making sure the thick part was peaking over to make it look full. This is my local Fred Meyer and the best option I have for getting the all the groceries I need at a moderately decent price in one place. I would love if whoever is managing this store could get their life and their act together and be better at their job. A number of points to consider: 1.) The bathroom is crazy. A pain in the you-know-what to get the code, and for a restroom that isn't totally free for all to use there's really no reason that they need to be so completely gross and ramshackle. Where is the maintenance budget? Where are the janitors? I feel like I'm in a gas station bathroom in a bad part of town when I'm in there, or on-set in the first Saw movie. This store is always packed, I KNOW yall got a few spare dollars on-hand. 2.) Speaking of maintenance, what's with the perpetually leaking freezer aisle? And what's with the seemingly permanent solution of just stuffing an entire roll of paper towels under the cases to plug the leak? A bit of a turn off to be buying food while navigating through a maze of brown-tinged, molded, misshapen rolls of Bounty. Have a little pride, I beg. 3.) I love going to my local grocery store and being greeted by some militia-adjacent looking dude with a gun. Whatever your opinions about the local crime rate, is it not a little hostile for us all to have this buff-and-tough-for-no-good-reason security force eyeing us as we enter and exit? I don't know about yall, but all that does is put me on edge. Perhaps something a little more discreet if the safety of the customers is the actual goal here. Unless of course, management just wants to remind you that they could very well shoot you if you forget to ring up the toilet paper on the bottom of your cart. 4.) You will wait 500 years for an employee to come if you want to buy the locked up Tide detergent. It's not their fault, the store seems to simply be understaffed. 5.) I had a ring resized at the jeweler where apparently it's amateur hour every hour, as the finishing job on the band was sloppy and seemingly they did not know or care to tighten the prongs around my gems after the resizing (which is common practice), causing me to lose a stone. Don't take anything precious here. 6.) I returned a bottle of lotion weeks ago. I have been buying this lotion for years, the formula has not changed. When I took it home, I opened the lid to find a smear of lotion across the lip, indicating it had probably already been used, and when I smelled it the odor was a bit rancid. I returned it to the store, voiced my concerns, and received a full refund. Great, no problem. I return yesterday, head to the lotion aisle, and find one singular bottle of my favorite aforementioned lotion! Awesome, I needed some more. I pick it up, and having learned my lesson from the last one, open the lid (these products are not sealed) to check its quality. Lo and behold, the same smear and same rancid smell. I had assumed when you brought a quality assurance issue to customer service, they would follow through in a logical manner (disposing of the defective product). THIS STORE (Lacey WA, Fred Meyers) NEEDS A NEW MANAGER. I've been in retail for over 40 years (in many different areas and sizes of stores) and this is about the poorest-run store i've seen. The employees are great, but I can tell they're tired, overworked, frustrated, and tired of trying to do the same job with less people. Probably the management cutting hours so their bonus is bigger? I've been on the receiving end of this greed trick before, so I know what I'm talking about. When you go in to shop at opening, and there's still LOTS of pallets of goods everywhere, cluttered, sometimes blocking the aisles.... that tells me there's not enough people working. Sure, callouts happen, but there should still be more people scheduled for coverage. Common sense. Or is it a manger bonus thing? And the piles of extra items on the very top shelf? That's a safety hazard right there. I'm surprised nothing has fallen onto a fellow customer's head...or maybe it has and good ole FM kept it quiet. And I think they don't have cleaners come in too often for the bathrooms, etc. Sometimes they're nasty with trash, graffiti, clogged toilets. sometimes even drug paraphenelia. Yeah, great family store. And things are left broken for a long time because no maintenance or cleaners. For the manager bonus? Like I said, the workers there are great, mostly friendly and helpful. I don't see how they do it, working in such a poor and unsafe environment. The management needs replaced now, and more care needs to be put in to everything about the store. By the way, I know who the manger is, I just be sure I don't talk to that person when I'm there. My 83-year-old mother is a lifelong Fred Meyer shopper in Lacey, Washington. Today, she went there to shop for Thanksgiving and when she went to the check stand, her purse was missing. The purse contained her wallet, phone, car keys, and cash so she was extremely concerned that it was stolen from her cart. She went to the security officer who refused to help her. He instead sent her to the customer service desk and said there was nothing he could do to help her. He didn't walk her to customer service. He didn't make sure she could contact police or family for help or to report potential crime that happened in his store. He didn't care about her wellbeing. When my mother went to the customer service desk, there were two staff members and no other customers. They told her that the only thing they would do was call the non-emergency police line. She could not use their phone. Then she proceeded to help the next customer who arrived after my mother. That other customer overheard the conversation and was so disgusted with Fred Myer's unwillingness to help an elderly woman, that she offered her own personal phone to and said that she'd stay as long as needed to help. The Fred Meyer employees sat there and did nothing. My mother called 911 with this other customer's phone and a Lacey Police officer came immediately. There was a potential crime and, of course, it was an emergency. My mother has been shopping at this Fred Meyer since it opened as a loyal customer. At a time of great need, they repaid the loyalty of this 83-year-old woman with indifference. They told her she was on her own and wouldn't even allow her to use their phone. My mother says she will never shop at Fred Myer again. I can't blame her. They haven't just lost her as a customer, they've lost all her friends. They've lost my family. They've lost anyone that ever hears this story of cruel indifference to a loyal elderly customer. Shame on you Fred Meyer. read more

I have filed a complaint with the Washington State Attorney General regarding SHALVO, your employee. I was returning a carpet shampoo unit and she REFUSED to accept the unit because she felt that it had not been properly cleaned before returning. I pointed out that what she was calling "unclean" was present when I rented the unit. She still refused to accept it and insisted I bring it home to rectify the situation. I am now incurring additional rental costs and have no idea how to "clean" what looks to have been there for a good period of time. My family spends between $300-500 per week in this store. It's just a great store, with respectful customers and excellent management. This is a proud union represented store and refuses to underpay, mistreat and overwork a stressed labor force, mistreated by customers and management alike. To create a safe shopping experience for all, the store won't allow belligerent drunks to intimidate their employee's. They kick out all customers who scream at their workers, "WHEEEERRREES THE *EXPLETIVE DELETED* WIIISERRR AT, YOU *EXPLETIVE DELETED*". Unlike other similar stores, they would never allow mentally unwell customers to run their shopping carts into store merchandisers and vendors while laughing. This store immediately terminates undesirable and unsafe employees. Suppose if there was a hypothetical employee named, "Kat" or "Gregory" who came to work high on illegal narcotics, operated forklift, who went berserk, threw and broke stuff, and tried to intimidate co-workers, I have only ever seen that he would be immediately fired. This store understands the importance of going easy on the sisters, gosh. So basically, the store and area is amazing, full of benevolent people and I highly recommend shopping here. I charged $20.80 to my visa debit card, however, Kroger/ Fred Meyer has chosen to leave $150.50 pending in my checking account. This over charge is absolutely not okay! My wife dropped off her only and very important wedding ring for a repair and replacement of the diamond. Asking only for appraisal. ONLY AN APPRAISAL. I've been using this store for groceries for about 10 years off & on. the produce has never left me with a "Whiskey Tango Foxtrot" thought as I walked through that section. overall, the store is great. friendly and helpful staff but they do get seriously busy. since the year known as Friday the 13th has come and gone I have taken to using the curbside delivery service. out of stock items can plague the process a bit but, the customer service has remained quite good. I was in Lacey and needed a simple loaf of bread so stopped here. What a nice store! The selection is huge and the deli department runs circles around other local super markets. I was so excited to see that the Fred Meyer delivery app lists Sodastream exchange carbonators as available for delivery. It listed them as in stock. But guess what? The store wouldn't deliver them! When the Instacart rep showed up at my doorstep, she said the store management told her I had to go to the customer service desk to get them. So why are they listed on the app as "available for delivery"???? What was the point of ordering delivery when you won't delivery some of the items you offer! I would understand if they had been out of stock, but this is just bad customer service. Now I have to go to the store anyway. I just wasted money on delivery. Unacceptable. We've been shopping at Fred Meyer for several years. Can't say it's the best grocery in town, although it's better than the Tumwater store, you see less homeless running out the door with free booze. There have been a few times where we were overcharged or something purchased wasn't bagged up. The employees aren't the most friendly or helpful and they often don't have common items that I need. Today at the deli counter, a woman named Ruth passed me over several times to wait on other people who hadn't been standing there as long. Wish I could say it's unusual, but for this store, a fairly common occurrence. Safeway does better and Haggen knocks it out of the park. Meyer isn't even close. read more

Don't use Fred Meyer clicklist or whatever their mobile pickup is. I've used it three times now, each worse than the last. The only ever have two employees bringing groceries out to cars, and they move about as quickly as grandma wading through a pool of molasses. The wait times are ungodly. I placed my order Thursday at 12pm for a pick up on Friday at 3pm. Friday at 1:30pm, I received a call saying my order wouldn't be ready until 7pm Friday or by 7am Saturday morning. Okay. Not ideal, but no big deal. I show up Saturday at 8:45am. Told the app 15 minutes before I left my house. Took me 20 minutes to even get into a pick up spot to check in. Then waited an addition 30 minutes before I got frustrated and went inside to get help from an associate. I left the parking lot at 9:53 am after I got my order. I was waiting in the parking lot from 8:45am-9:53am. If you've got an hour to burn waiting in the parking lot, it may be worth it for you, but not for me. The past time, they only had about 1/3 of my order and didn't inform me prior to arrival that items were out of stock. If you want an experience in extreme frustration or are just looking to test your patience, go ahead and try your luck. I know that I won't. If the store can't keep up with online orders, get more staff and parking for it, or don't offer it at all. I feel bad for these employees. Clearly they are drained and exhausted and not compensated enough. Hire more people Fred Meyer. Your customers will notice. read more

This is specifically for Fred Meyer Jewelers. I took my watch in for a battery change --- my watch was running slowly, but it was running. The woman there put a new battery in my watch, and it quit working. She gave me some song and dance about "how my watch had just conveniently decided to stop working right then, blah, blah, blah --- but they had finance plans in place, so I could just buy a new one." I cannot "just buy a new one" --- I am a senior citizen, living on Social Security. I know that it's possible my watch just took that inopportune to quit --- I think it's equally possible that she broke it. Anyway, I went to Customer Service to complain --- was told that the jewelry dept. is NOT under jurisdiction of Fred Meyer's (despite their company name), and that I needed to speak to the manager of that dept. He (Nate Padgett) wasn't in, so I took his business card and called him yesterday. First he said that "no, no, they aren't responsible and do not give free watches!" Then he backtracked some, and told me to bring it in --- he would look at it for me, saying he was 'very handy with this sort of thing.' I brought my watch in --- all he did was try to change the battery again --and then told me it was probably less expensive for me to just buy a new watch --- that was the extent of his help! Also, last time I had a battery changed there (2020), it cost $10 --- the price is now $15.99 --- an almost 60% increase in 4 years. I will NEVER do business with them again --- VERY OUT-OF-TOUCH with the realities of life for some of us elders. read more

Tiffany at the Fred Meyer in Lacey went above and beyond for my family and I. We were late arriving for our summer vacation and needed to pick up our grocery order. Despite the doors being locked at 8pm. She put all of my items in a cart for me and met me in the store so we'd have food for the night/morning. She was so wonderful and thoughtful and it was such a huge gesture that she'd stay late to help a stranger out. Quality of produce & food is usually good. Freezer section is often out of stock on things but other than that they're usually in stock. More expensive than Walmart, cheaper than Safeway. The worst part about this particular Fred Meyer is the lack of cashiers. The lines are always insanely long & take a long time to move.
