    Dead cake area

Epic experience while digging through the "dead cake" area. I spotted an illustrious (what I have named) "Phteven Cake" and promptly fell apart laughing with my daughter (see pic) upon closer inspection. I think perhaps they are training new bakers but whomever made this masterpiece should be on Netflix's The Next Best Dessert show. Not only is the color true to form but the size and shape of the teeth : perfection. I can barely tell the difference between the cake and the real deal! I can't understand why this cake was on sale. $12.41?? Such a steal! Far better than the baroque styled raspberry monstrosity melting beside it. Should you need some real artistry and dedication put into your pastries, look no further. Fred Meyer bakers have you covered.

Sheesh, this place is HUGE! It's like Walmart... except it's better and... well... BETTER. It's a one stop shop in its truest nature. Need groceries (including fresh and frozen produce)!? CHECK. Clothing?! CHECK. School supplies?! CHECK. Need to buy someone nice jewelry?! CHECK. Souvenirs?! CHECK. I say it's better than Walmart since the variety (and quality) of their products just seems above par in comparison. Check out lines were never long since there were enough cashiers to tend to everyone. Awesome first visit.

This is not my usual Fred Meyer, but I happened to be in the area and needed a few things, so I went in. I don't know that I have ever been to a Fred Meyer with such horrible customer service. I cruised by the meat counter and there were 2 staff people behind it and the female was yelling at the male "you better not screw me over again!" and proceeded to tell him - loudly - what he had done wrong before, case this, the meat that, whatever. So, I stopped directly in front of them, waited to be acknowledged, wasn't, then said "excuse me." She looked and me and said nothing. Just gave me that "what do you want" look. I said that yelling something like that and going on like that in front of customers and children (there was a little girl of about 5-years-old next to me) was probably not a great idea. She said nothing, and kind of smirked, and then went on to berate the guy. No comment, not even an "I'm sorry, how can I help you?" Nothing. So, I asked for a manager. She said he's not here. I asked if there's a store manager, she said there probably is "out there somewhere." I asked her if she could page one for me. She smirked and walked away. A manager came from the front of the store and I told him what had happened. He seemed to listen and care. Moving on.... I'm at the clearance area and there's a door where staff comes in and out with product to stock. And these 2 staff guys were there going on about this worthless girl who does this and that and has all this wasted time. Then I'm looking for the Free Friday item (frequently on Fridays there is a digital download for a free item). I can't find the item, or even a space for it, so it doesn't appear that they carry it. At other Fred Meyers, if they don't carry the item, or are out, they'll substitute something for it. This Friday's item was a small bottle of Nuprin Ibuprofen. So, I got a small bottle of store-brand Ibuprofen and went up to Customer Service to ask about a substitution. Another smirker. I said something like "it doesn't appear that you carry this item .... are you substituting anything for it?" She said, "oh we had some, we got plenty, if you didn't get one, that's too bad." I said "oh, at other Fred Meyer's they'll substitute and give you something else." Snarky response ... "yeah, no, we don't substitute. Like I said, we had it, and you missed out." Alrighty then. {I don't mind not getting the item, it's the tone and the words that I have a problem with.} They had these Squishmallow stuffed animals on sale for half price. And they were all in this sort of tall wire bin. And a lot of them were dirty. The white was dingy, scuff marks, etc. It took me a while to dig through and finally find one that was good enough to purchase. When I got up to the register, I asked the girl if she had a big bag that I could put it in because I didn't want it to get dirty. And I was holding it for her to scan the tag so that I didn't risk it getting dirty, she says yes, snatches it from me, drags it on the scanner and then shoves it into a small bag. Ugh. I wanted to hold it to make sure it didn't get dirty, and she just dirtied it and shoved it in to a small bag when I asked for a big one (that they have and I saw there in the cubbies). Annoying. I did find some fun things on markdown, so that was a treat. I didn't stay long enough to check out the other half of the store because I was annoyed with them.... I really enjoy going to new grocery stores. It's something I enjoy doing when I vacation in different places. It's neat to see how it's laid out, what products they have, are there any hot little deals, etc. However, this Fred Meyer is one I don't think I would return to.

I love Fred Meyers because they are the only place that carries POG (Pineapple Orange Guava) juice. Btw, try to mix POG juice w/ champagne, you'll get a delish mimosa! They have a good selection and great quality on their produce, meat and cheese! I love their fresh fruit pies and tres leches cake, a life save headache when somebody invite me to a party. On the top of that I can drop off my kid for an hour at their Freddy's Playland for free! They added on a Starbucks Coffee Shop not long ago. What not to love? I'll definitely be back!

This is a great all in one store. The clothing selection is quite good, there are a variety of electronics you can buy, there are hardware supplies, they have a garden section, the food is good, and their deli and pastries have a huge selection. If you're looking for one slice of cake you can get it here, which is nice when you just want something for yourself. The prices are reasonable for clothing and other items. The groceries are more expensive than places like Winco and Walmart, but not unreasonable. In addition you get a larger selection of specialty items you can't find everywhere. I'd rate the service standard. Employees are always helpful when you ask for help, and they just don't look as burnt out as people at Walmart (not sure if that's just in my head or not). You won't regret choosing this store for whatever you need.

our gorgeous sectional and pillows from fred meyer- the quality is incredible!

I am very familiar…read morewith returns as I manage a team that oversees 14-18 online vendors with many of them being on Amazon, Walmart, and Costco. So, criss-cross apple sauce everyone STORYTIME I When you're a manufacturer/vendor and you agree to be on Amazon whereas you sell to Amazon and then Amazon sells to its customers, most vendors choose to pay Amazon 2% for handling the returns. This means that the returns do not go back to the manufacturer or the vendor. Please note that in Seller Central, there is also a similar program but some sellers can opt to have returns returned to them. Steelz from what I saw on their shelves seems to be a home for returning goods from various stores and platforms. It also looks like Steelz is the local recipient of left-over stock that Costco and others don't want on their shelves anymore. STORYTIME II Ever since the asterisk in the upper right-hand corner of the price matrix sign at Costco? If you see the asterisk, it means that the item has a number of days before it leaves Costco. That item may or may not sell out. If it doesn't sell out, meaning sealed, factory new items are left over, Steelz will most likely buy them at a discount ( liquidated price agreed upon with Costco and others ) and then Steelz is now the owner of the inventory of sealed and new items as well as any returns that Steelz wants to buy. While I walked through Steelz, I noticed many items from Costco. I couldn't determine whether or not the pricing at Steelz was indeed a deal. In my opinion, a couple of dollars saving wasn't worth it for me but I do see value for customers who are not Costco members. If didn't have a Costco membership but wanted to shop at Costco, then Steelz is potentially a great deal. Steelz also has many Kirkland products in smaller individual sizes like toilet paper and paper towels. We didn't buy anything at Steelz that day but I would be interested in going back and doing some more looking and pricing. There's been some discussion about the return policy or returning products overall. I can't speak on this topic since I have not purchased anything. If I do purchase anything and if I have to return anything, I'll update this review.

And no it wasn't written on the box. The scale was also dirty. Then I got a box with two cast iron pans. Because of history, I decided to open them in the parking lot. The, big one was used with rust. All in it grease all down the sides of the pans grease all over the bottom with rust, and the protective handle was breaking off in tiny pieces. Needless to say , 13 minutes after purchase, I was refused my money back and had to get a Shop card. When its the stores fault, the store needs to issue a refund. The Prices are more than Costco's prices. at least when you go to Costco, you get great customer service, refund, and reliability. BTW where is the owner?

October 23 is the official opening date for this Rack at The Village outdoor mall in Meridian, next…read moreto the newly opened Barnes and Noble, but yesterday, October 21, they held a "by invite only" opening event and I attended. I use Rack to easily return things I order by mail from regular Nordstrom, where I have been a card holder since my college years and that was a literal lifetime ago, and this is much closer to my house than the Boise store. So, I was eager to see inside and said "yes" when I received an email from Nordstrom asking if I'd like to attend a pre-opening event. Based on my "look see" at the inside of the store, if you are a Rack-shopper-person and enjoy the Rack in Boise, this store seems much larger and brighter and new with lots of stock and friendly people so you'll probably love this one. Now to the pre-opening event itself, to suggest a different view than A.M.'s 3 star rating comments. She is correct that it did seem employees were letting in anyone who lined up in the very, very long line inside instead of checking the e-tickets sent to invitees. As someone alongside me in the tight space inside the store said, "So much for reservations only. PLEASE!" My response was that what looks feasible in plan sometimes doesn't work on the ground and improvising is necessary. Given the long line and that some people had several friends and family members with them (including multiple children including stroller age) it may be the employees felt they couldn't manage crowd behavior if they were reviewing tickets at the entry to allow only ticket holders access. I assumed, as A.M. did, that this would be a controlled gate. But when I showed up at 4:00 for the 4:00 to 6:00 entry option (the other option was 7:00 to 9:00 but that is after my bedtime) the line was already very long and growing rapidly. Nordstrom had employees on the sidewalk reminding people this with a ticket only event, and also asking them to please not block the entry doors of other retailers as people were doing that. There was also a sign at the Rack door saying "ticketed event" but many people ignored that. It also looked as if employees were metering in so that the store didn't get overwhelmingly full and waited for some to exit before allowing others in. I imagine for people with tickets who were waiting a long time in line that this was frustrating but it was necessary to avoid a crush in the store. Employees were lined up inside as shoppers entered using "applause sticks" to welcome us in and thank us for coming. They managed to keep this a couple of ticks short of chaos and some people were actually shopping for items and then lining up at check stands to buy them. They also had a DJ set up in the back and a free refreshments stand with cans of beer, sparkling wine, water, cookies and pretzels and people were lining up there too (free stuff has fans always it seems) and then strolling around the store munching and sipping. I applaud the Nordy's staff on the ground at the event for their friendly grace in all of this. As I was leaving an Nordy's employee standing outside the door thanked me for coming and said "come see us again on Thursday" (opening day). I laughed and said I would probably wait a couple of months until the horde abated and she chuckled, "Probably wise."

It's a good store but what makes it challenging is that it has a Marshall's and a Sierra as a neighbor. So, if you don't find what you're looking for a Burlington, you just go next door to see what you can find. NOTE: There are differences between the three stores so what you would expect to see at Burlington is not what you are going to find at Marshall's but if your search is generic in nature, it doesn't really matter. I wish the Meridian store would be bigger but I think for the neighborhood, its good. If you're looking for deals, you have one more option at the VIllage.

I like that it is next to other discount stores so it's easy to hop from one to the next. For anyone who hasn't been to a Burlington, think Marshall's or Ross, with the same type of items at great prices. I do find that some things have lower prices here compared to a couple similar stores so Burlington is usually my first stop if I'm on the hunt for something. If you have been to Burlington then this is pretty much what you'd see in most places. If you're like me and your first regular Burlington was over 200k sq ft, then you might be slightly disappointed but it would still be fun to look around for some deals so go there anyway! This was our third Burlington for the day because I was looking for luggage, but I wanted a matching set. I found ones I liked at the other stores but no sets with the two sizes I needed. I found what I was looking for here and headed to checkout where Carol helped us out. She was super friendly and engaging from the second we walked up. Caring employees do not seem to be majority anymore so we really appreciated Carol and the way she treated us. She even went above and beyond to help us with a price issue. Burlington already has great prices and this location has great employees so stop by and see if you can find something you can't live without! Or be like me, buy something you know you don't need because it was a good deal and it's cute or cool or fun, but has no real purpose in your life. Happy shopping!
