I was pretty amazed coming here since I genuinely loathe most Fred Meyer stores. A lot of it is the employees - I wonder if the other stores straight up torture their poor staff because they seem miserable and take it out on the customers. Here I was so amazed! I needed corn and a fella was stocking it. He was just that perfect amount of friendly and enjoying doing his job. The produce really seemed extra fresh. The self check setup is way better than many other stores and even the parking lot was far less of a mess. I had a lot of errands that day so something like actually getting an ADA spot is a welcome change when you experience enough stops where this is not the case and I was already exhausted. read more

My husband purchased a couch at the Scappoose Fred Meyers on Black Friday. We brought it home and we noticed that there was something wrong with one of the cushions. It wasn't the same height as the other two or as firm. It was sitting on a broke down couch where the frame was busted. My husband started the process of getting it returned and we were told no by the customer service basically. We went in several times and got the run around. So I checked on Their rreturn policy. Nowhere in the policy does it say that furniture were an exception to the return policy. Which is 90 days. Trying to contact their support is laughable. They send me an email asking for the details just for the to send a form letter basically. It didn't address any of the issues Ithat they asked for. So here I go again into the store and spoke the store manager and he gave me such a hard time he tried to say that the policy went from 90 to 60 days. Well I had emails showing the communication. He had to think really hard as to what excuse he was gonna use not to let us return it. He implied that their would be a break down and "wear and tear". Are you kidding me ge reluctantly said well I can only exchange I told him that's fine. Well 20.minutes later do we get to pick up the new couch the next day. And of course the ride "furniture manager was rude to my husband. She told another employee that this was beyond the scope of their job. A re you kidding me. Are you saying that it's okay to steal that money from us by not exchanging or even paying us the money we paid for it. How they were able to look into our faces and lie is reprehensible. That whole store needs an overhaul their produce sucks so do their prices. My husband refuses to go into the store. One more thing the person who runs the customer service desk is a which with a capital b. I never want to go to take a return. No smile attitude with the eyes rolling. The Deli at the Scappoose location is AWFUL. Half the time the deli case is completely empty and the other half everything in it is burnt. The employees are nice enough but the quality is TERRIBLE. read more

Kroger-Fred Meyer- conveniently does not have the items which are on the digital coupons. I tried over three different Fred Meyers to get the Bob's Red Mill flour without success. The company policy is not to give out rainchecks on these items. This week, I tried to get the green grapes, and they had none. The other issue I have had is overcharging or not taking off digital coupons. If one does not catch it right when checking out, you have to go to the customer service area which usually has long lines to get refunded. Calling the customer service line is just as bad as you have to wait over 10 minutes to get ahold of someone. By the time the issue was finally resolved after being transferred around, I had been on the phone for an hour. And they call this customer service. On the other hand, good customer service has consistently been shown at Safeway and Trader Joe's. read more

This is a large Fred Meyer catering to the population in the surrounding area of Scappoose and Columbia County. But there's nothing special or unique about it. It's by comparison not much different than a Walmart. They used to have a decent selection of gourmet, natural and organic items but slowly they are discontinuing a lot of that. So many of the items that we would buy regularly there, we're now having to purchase either online or at other stores in Portland proper. There isn't anything unique about it, but it's certainly utilitarian for your basic groceries. They've done a great job of whittling back the housewares, and the garden center is a shadow of itself. The meat counter could be so much better. The employees are fine, a few of them are pretty arrogant and standoffish, but that's pretty common too. The best part of this location is the abundant parking and the convenience of curbside pickup. But beyond that, it's just your basic Fred Meyer/Kroger. read more

You removed your can returns, and institute a policy demanding the purchase of your products and spending of the deposit at your stores. How is this not fraud? If you sell beverage containers, you must return the deposits. This is Oregon law. Now you say you can't take green bags because you can't store them all? Who gets that cash, when people just throw them away rather than dealing with you? This is intentional on your part. The people of Oregon owe you NOTHING. Freddie's is the go to grocery store in Scappoose and this trip is no different. I went in looking for some very specific ingredients and two ladies (Stephani and Suzanne) who worked there, basically became my personal shoppers and helped me get everything, even making sure that I didn't forget some critical ingredients that I needed and almost forgot. The Gal Tina in clothing was soo helpful and friendly. Love her! She knew exactly what I needed and right where to get it.

It's the only grocery store in town kind of makes it irresistible and necessary. Do all my local shopping. The employees are friendly and helpful. My only complaint is; When store opened it carried lumber and alot of hardware until they put local TVBS out of business then stopped carrying Lumber and most hardware. It's frustrating to walk into a store and see everyone is wearing a mask but a couple that always seem to be above the law and don't need to wear one and you tell the workers and they don't do anything about it. Like show some respect for other people. I only shop here when I have to because of this and know of several others that have mentioned to the staff about masks and they do nothing about it. read more

Have spent over $100,000 in the last 20 years at this store. Regular customer almost daily. Went through the self check, when I got home, an item was not in my bag. Went back to look for it (item costs $8.89) was not there. Was told 'we are not responsible for items checked out in self check and there are no refunds. Store policy, nothing we can do. I was very, very unhappy. Brought in TED the manager who if he EVER smiled, I think I would faint. Very condescending and told me that "This time only, I'll make an exception." BUT what I was really hearing was, "Your a crook and you didn't buy it." I pretty much imploded all over him. Haven't been back for months. Also, I can't count how many times I have heard employees maliciously gossiping about this and that (mostly management), well heard by anyone who is near by. Some of the most unhappiest employees in one store I have ever seen. Am going to the FM in Hillsboro - WHAT A DIFFERENCE. The most helpful and kindest employees. Worst grocery store ever. It's fine for buying frozen or non fresh items, but their produce is disgusting and wilted and the meats often smell like they are ready for the garbage. I have lived literally. a minute drive time at most, from this FM for 13 years. Since this Covid thing the employees seem to feel it is okay to cop an attitude, be rude, insult, be inconsiderate and neglegent of their common couteousy and their basic customer service job. I have had horrible encounters with a cashier on one visit, a neglegent deli person who didnt even finish getting the rest of my deli needs before dropping my sliced turkey on the counter and walking away. No thank you, anything else I can get you or go to H****!. I have been told they would no longer pump my gas, and just tonight at the pharmacy, attitude because I didnt get a peracription I was waiting for that was never filled when I asked why ...I dont know, I dont see it was requested. When I come back so they can fill tomorrow's scripts 15 minutes later the original tech that was supposed to fax dr for last weeks script is now waiting on me. She asks me for my DoB. I tell her, you forgot to request my perscription last week? She immediately says (with major attitude) no I didn't, it was declined by dr. Really. No one calls me, she obviously knew who I was and that I would be asking about it and offerwd no explanation. Again NO customer Service. I already get my gas down the street at Road Runner. They never stopped pumping gas for their customers. With a little bit of planning I will be shopping once a week at Winco, or if I need something now I will go to St Helens. I will be working something out for my perscriptions but I am truly done with Fred Meyer. Lately when I walk out of FM, I feel like I hate people. That is sooooo unlike me. A stream-lined shopping experience that keeps the Snuggies in the mix, year-round! This is one of the few FM's that has gas pumps out front, and it makes you wonder why more of them don't do it. It is invariably one of the cheapest gas deals around. There's rarely a lengthy wait at check out at THIS Freddie's, mostly I s'pose b/c they are ok with having more than 1 or 2 checkout lanes open at any given time, unlike so very many other places. The people-watching is invariably more entertaining at the Peninsula or Interstate stores there in No Po, but Scappoose is outside the suffocating restrictions of the big city! That means, among other things, not only can you still get ammo from the sporting goods section, you can still get guns! This is why Russian or Iranian or Zombie invasions will NEVER be fully successful in this great land of ours. Sure, they'll mop up in the hoity toity "gun restricted" zones in the big cities. But the country folk? Well, it's like Hank Jr says, Country folk can survive! I would compare Freddie's to a Super Walmart, but with a friendly, intelligent staff. This is your one-stop shopping center for pretty much anything you might need, and you'll usually find it at a pretty reasonable price. No reason to go anywhere else. read more

I've been there multiple times. Horrible, horrible service. I'll never go back to a Fred Meyer Jewelers for anything! My service is going else where. On multiple occasions I've stood there and no employee would help me. Same thing happened to my boyfriend. They weren't even busy. They knew we were there and still no service. I'll be honest, I don't particularly like buying my groceries at the same store where I could also buy underwear, ammunition, and television sets. But as Scappoose, despite a growing population, has yet to entice any significant supporting businesses to the area, it's what stands in for a variety of different types of retail establishments. The regular staff is generally friendly and helpful, but to be honest I feel sorry for how the company seems to treat them; making them wear silly themed t-shirts as if it was a Walmart... let people have some dignity for goodness sake. As to the selection of products, since Kroeger bought the FM brand, more and more of what is on the shelves are house brands. It may look like a variety but scratch beneath the surface and a large portion of it is just different labels on more of less the same products. Quite frankly, I try to shop elsewhere when I can; even driving down to St. Helens to the Red Apple where the selection is more varied or up to Orenco and it's New Seasons. read more

We stopped by the Scappoose Fred Meyer while running the Hood to Coast Relay this past weekend. They had the tighty-whities we needed, I picked up some mixed tropical fruit, there were tons of flirtatious hot moms shopping there, and the self-checkout worked flawlessly! The highlight of our visit, though was Liberty! This vivacious blonde helped us find exactly what we were looking for, even going so far as to modify her hairstyle in order to deliver 100% customer satisfaction. The majority of the staff doesn't wear a mask at all or with their nose exposed. I've tried to talk to two different 'managers' the first guy walked up to me with his nose uncovered. They basically told me their isn't much more they can do and didn't care what I had to say. Some of my family just moved to Scappoose from St. John's in Portland it had about five trips to the Fred Myers , I've had a couple .. some of the nicest staff so far I've ever seen.. very helpful will stop doing whatever they're doing to help you. They have had really good sales great discounts and items on clearance and the variety on clear and Our local Fred Meyer's when the have clearance it's usually very small variety I guess that would be because they don't have all the items Scappoose does they have got rid and downsized there departments so much , they don't have much were groceries anymore a few household pans and dishes but not i'm large enough variety or quantity To have a discount on because it's disappearing .. our Fred Myer here in St. John's. I was shocked That Scappoose Freddie's has a three star review actually shocked seem like most of them came from the gas station which I think should be separate and for someone not wanting to buy underwear where you buy groceries , well that must go for pharmacy items drug items appliances garden supply steer manure, children's items almost everything I could go on. I think it's great that you're able to buy most in one store like we used to to be able to do here in St. John's instead of having to go to 4 or 5 now. And forfive more trips a couple more days usually before you can find everything you need Since they did their first remodel which I think was awful and now another remodel well they took everything else out now. There are grocery stores everywhere Fred Meyer's was different it was like a one-stop shopping center , it is no more, or most aren't. It was wonderful to go in this one in Scappoose.. seems like every Fred Meyer's they go to their going to remodel again that means take everything out slowly until all you have is groceries and will be raising there grocerie prices where are where doing and is Fred Meyer's in St. John's has everything negative you want to say about employees , rude they don't want to help at all. If it's not right on the shelf where you can find it they just say they don't have it or out of stock , I think we're out of stock .. they haven't even looked and I find out later or the next day they were in the back the whole time and they know.. it's happened many times on a regular basis even the manager in the store does. And Scappoose has a three star ratting unbelievabe. We have lived in St. John's for 35 years I guess I thought all the Fred Myer's were like this one rude and unhelpful always cocky, not working but talking or hiding I was so shocked when we went to Scappoose fredies .. So fed up with this store. I have shopped that store for over 6 years now and it just keeps getting worse. Fruit flies, Shopping carts not brought in. Filthy can and bottle return area. The gun counter being near the toys and nursery. Insane. Then there is the matter of stocking the store. They can't seem to do it. Other Fred Meyers manage to but not this one. It's as if it's an outpost store at the outer reaches of the tundra. Everything I purchase the store discontinues. The only reason and I do mean the only reason I shop there is the distance it is from my house. It's the closest store to Maybe have what I need. This is the most awesome store. I live very close to this store and I am there on average twice a day. I am able to get my groceries fresh, as I need them, and can make everything we eat in my house pretty much made to order. They have the best bakery of any supermarket I have ever been in, anywhere in North America. That is saying A LOT!!! Their deli serves the most amazing grilled panini's for lunch or dinner and their produce section is only missing a few minor gourmet items I need to purchase elsewhere (heirloom or yellow tomatoes, champagne grapes, etc) I am also VERY impressed with their nutritional health section. Its really stocked quite well with all the things I would normally make a trip to somewhere like Whole Foods for. They have a really great clothing section as well. I have been able to purchase some really great additions to my wardrobe from their clearance racks which is always a plus, mostly athletic wear, but a few swimsuit pieces and my husband has had even better luck in the clothing dept than I have. The staff at this store is amazingly friendly and I feel very welcome and appreciated as a regular customer. I will always pick this store as my first choice for almost anything I need. read more

Creepy people are always trying to talk to me here. It's one of the few one one-stop-shops in the area though, where you can get groceries, clothing, etc. As much as I hate going in here, I have to give them and their employees props for quickly finding us some pants that fit my husband (he's tall, hard to find ones long enough at most stores) after we got roped into a bit of cow-rodeoing which ended with my husband falling face forward in the mud as he dove for a calf, ruining his pants. read more

Overall good store only issue I have is the fact that they do not ask for id when using your debit cards at the gas pumps. I have had someone use my card without my knowledge and while once I knew I was ok with it sure would have been nice to have it validated at the time of use. Especially since I know of a convicted ID thief who lives in Scapoose and uses their pumps for gas using someone else cards. read more

Matt at the gas station is the rudest person I have ever met. Stood talking to another attendant while we were waiting to buy gas. Then after we were done and I told him we were done he started spraying the oil spots on the ground. Then with a total attitude he told us that if he didn't do that at that moment it would dry out and they would close down the whole gas station. It was so obvious he didn't want to be there. The store was recently remodeled which looks nice but I shop there every week at least 3-4 times and I know some off the staff personally and I see what goes on most of the employees are not properly trained and some of the managers and PIC do not do anything orherwise the main employees care about there job and keep things clean most of them.trained themeselves read more

New to Scappoose and delighted with this Fred Meyer. The staff is extremely helpful, up to and including the manager, Paul, who will stop and help a customer locate items on the shelf even if he is in the middle of something else. Gas prices are the best around. The store is clean and efficient with speedy checkout options. You can call ahead and have items waiting for you when you arrive but I haven't tried that yet. read more
