Fred Meyer pharmacist hung up on a confused patient mid-conversation. I recently changed insurance and am navigating new prescriptions with a new psychiatrist - an already stressful transition. I called the Fred Meyer pharmacy with genuine questions about a refill date discrepancy I noticed between my old insurance and what the pharmacy had on file. Instead of receiving any clarity or basic courtesy, the pharmacist was dismissive, showed zero empathy, and ultimately hung up on me mid-conversation. I wasn't being difficult. I was confused - which is a completely reasonable thing to be when your insurance, doctor, and medications are all changing at once. Pharmacists are healthcare professionals who regularly work with patients in exactly these situations. A little patience and a clear explanation would have gone a long way. Instead, I was made to feel like a suspect for asking a straightforward question. That is unacceptable. I'll be transferring this prescription as soon as my current refill is complete. I wouldn't recommend working with Fred Meyer pharmacy. read more

Customer Service Review: Arrived at 9:45 pm, yes relatively close to 10pm closing time. Initially asked Lead cashier (Red Vest) if I had to do a return for feminine products or could I do an exchange?? I explained I purchased said product at another location, for my Fiancé, and it was a cash sale I misplaced the receipt for. Under 10$ the Tampax product I purchased was wrong and I incorrectly chose these. Stating it was for allergic reasons I was unaware of and I was the loser fiancé who was just trying his best. Red vest said nope Customer service is closed and no tills are open also "needed a proof of of purchase" Frustratingly I accepted my fate and said thanks. I went back to my truck FOUND the RECEIPT. Walked back in at 9:51. Receipt in hand was given an attitude explaining "yeah whatever" again I accepted the response and left. Now I'll never shop at this location again. Why does having a receipt and paying for stuff even seem wrong these days. Bakery review! Custom cupcake cake order. Employees took a simple lead and produced what my kiddo loved. They didn't have Cars specifically in their cupcake cake catalog but they promised and delivered on this theme (since they had rights to use the characters). This store is HUGE! Wow! in colorado its kind of like a super target or super walmart. lots of food, clothes, and more. I only went in for the food and was a little overwhelmed with how big it was. I was expecting it to be more like the king soopers back home since these are also owned by kroger. Very impressive though! Found what i needed quickly once i got over to the food section. Employees were friendly. And for those who left bad reviews for masks..... are you serious???! omg. Anyway, everyone was wearing their masks when i was there. Did not see any "non compliers". I love this store...love the super awesome employees but I absolutely hate their sales, coupons, digital coupons, weekly coupons, buy 5 items get lower price, having to upload to my card before I shop what a ridiculous pain and waste of my time! I don't have a scanner on my phone so I can't scan their codes. I never know what I'm going to pay for an item and their website is a hot mess. Can never find the coupons I've scanned and get to the store and I can't remember the deals I'm supposed to be looking for or what I have to buy in addition to in order to get the deals! Who is the person who came up w this mess? I'm officially over it. As much as I dislike Walmart, they will get my business. I'm not a thief and neither are 99% of their customers and I will not support a business that is that distrustful of their customers. I am strictly rating the customer service clerk on duty at the store today, April 29 at 3:15 PM. I wanted to return an unwanted item that I received as a substitution. It was not a similar item to me. I took the items into the store to return. There was a man in front of me that was able to exchange milk. He did not have a receipt. I step up and she tells me there are no returns or exchanges because of the virus. I totally am accepting of that policy. When I asked why the man was able to exchange she just stared blankly. If you are going to have policies they need to be implemented fairly. They are not the only grocery store in town offering the same products and the same services. read more

I'm fairly certain people aren't checking Yelp to decide on which Fred Meyer location to go to but please be aware that they don't enforce the state mandated mask policy. We've witnessed customers shopping without mask on more than one occasion and observed cashiers allowing them to check out. If you are an anti-masker this is definitely the place for you to shop. However if being in a check out line with people not wearing masks bothers you, you might want to take your business to stores that do care about the health and safety of their customers. Not sure if it's the store policy but we have seen employees at both Winco and Trader Joe's refuse to check out customers who weren't wearing masks. So there are all new pharmacy people. My doctor faxed in a renewal for one of my prescriptions. They didn't have it twice when I went in. Lately they have been out of several of my prescriptions and I had to wait 4 days. So today I check again , 20 min wait in line each time, to see if they filled the one the doctor faxed in. They say the doctor never called it in. So I call my doctor and they had it faxed in at 4:31 pm yesterday Fred Meyers denies this. So I will transfer another to Walgreens. This pharmacy sucks with all the new incompetent employees The prescriptions were called I to Walgreens and they were filled and ready in an hour. read more

Every time I come to a Fred Meyer store, things are being moved and shuffled around in the store. It is hard to find things as expected and makes shopping frustrating. I have recently heard mumblings from the employees on the floor about changes and Krogers management strangling the staff with policy and procedures. I have always appreciated the staff at the stores we frequent. If you want faithful, returning, clients - make our lives easy and keep the good staff happy. This Fred Meyer is my favorite location. It may be due to the fact I'm there quite often but the fact is the employees are the best. If you are trying to find a particular item more than once an employee has come up and asked if i need help before I had to hunt someone down. Check out is generally expedited by additional staff monitoring all the lines. Now this is not always the case depending on the time of day but if your there in the evening rush expect normal check out tomes. Current checkers have been helpful and many are new as some have retired. Others have complained about the deli but I believe that may have been some of the staff in the past. I have found deli staff to be helpful, special cutting thickness of meats and special cooking chicken while you shop in other parts of the store. Definitely no complaints here. The pharmacy is top notch as well. They are there to answer your questions and are quick are filling your prescriptions. You are able to talk directly to a pharmacist right away not wait and watch them ignore you like I've experienced at Walgreens. Any negative reviews I question and most seem to be quite old. I've been shopping here over 23 years and haven't seen anything close to some of the negative comments. Yes they had some slow checkers in the past but time marches on. read more

Let me tell you about Cheryl. If there's anyone that you wouldn't want to be a manager for a busy grocery store, it would be someone like Cheryl. For reference, my husband and I were trying to cash three money orders that equaled a large amount. This was to buy a car, and time was an issue- which is why we didn't just deposit the money orders into our bank account and wait for them to clear. We went to the Fred Meyer on SE Columbia House Blvd., and they were only able to cash one of three. They told us to head over to the Fred Meyer on SE Mill Plain Blvd., and that they'd be able to cash them there. We race over, and we're greeted by a customer service woman who tells us they'll have to cash them as employee checks, and there'll be a fee of three dollars for each. That makes no sense to us since the previous Fred Meyer did not have to do this to cash one of the money orders, but we were in a rush. She's unable to, says the orders have been blocked, and that we'll have to call the company that blocked them to figure it out. We try, and are locked out from the phone menu. After explaining this to the customer service woman, she calls in Cheryl. Explaining the situation to Cheryl, and how we were unable to communicate with the company blocking the money order, her response was "don't talk to me like this is my fault." Of course, we weren't- we were explaining the situation to her in a very calm manner. Upon further explaining that we were in desperate need of help, and this was a time-sensitive matter, her response was a sneering "well... that doesn't matter to me any." All I could get out was "no, it matters to me" before she walked away. It was another five minutes before another manager returned in her place, His response was that we had to return to the first store- that they were the only ones who could cash it. We knew this was a lie, but at that point we were so fed up with Cheryl and the store that we needed to get out of there. What was supposed to take only 10-15 minutes top lasted about an hour. Racing back to the first store, Matt Griffin- the manager who helped us in the first place at the SE Columbia House Blvd. location- was a life saver. Not only did he deal with the company blocking the money orders, he cashed them personally, and fixed every problem we were having. That guy is awesome- the complete opposite of Cheryl My anger isn't with Fred Meyer as a chain. It rests all on Cheryl and the guy she sent in her place when she couldn't be bothered to do her job. Also, this was on New Year's Eve. If that's how she treats customers and employees on a holiday, imagine how she treats them the rest of the year. Cheryl is genuinely the worst- a human being who thrives on authority she doesn't really have, or deserve. Next time you shop at Fred Meyer make it the SE Columbia House Blvd. location, you'll be glad you did. read more

Amanda and I got into my car after going shopping one afternoon a while back, I had lost the coin toss and had to brave driving out Mill Plain at rush hour... we had just navigated our way around droves of seniors and shopping carts in order to get a little of this and a little of that... "Why are you changing the stereo? Don't change it, I like that song... so I need a little Kanye in my day ok... what? You wanna go?" Amanda said as she turned the radio back to the previous station. "mmm..." I responded. An old lady in what looked like an even older champagne colored Taurus rumbled up behind me. "You sound like Marge Simpson." "Where'd that lady go?" I said, checking my mirror and ignoring her. Years of being tormented by my peers as "Marge Simpson" because of the horrid haircut I insisted upon having, flashed before my eyes. "She backed up. She wants your spot." "Wha...?" I whisked my sunglasses up to the top of my head and looked at Amanda. Apparently taking them off would help me understand the situation, "There's two spots on each side of me." "Yeah, I know. Don't hit her." "That's gonna be a challenge, you see the size of that rig? That's an unavoidable target. 5 bucks says I loose a bumper in this..." The woman had now crept up farther and tooted her horn at me. "I'm going. I'm going." I rolled my eyes and repositioned my eyewear. Sure enough as soon as I had turned the corner the Taurus swooped into the spot and the driver made her merry way into the shop. Sometimes you've just gotta sigh and keep going. That seems to be the case every time I come to Fred's. They may or may not have what you're looking for in stock... someone may or may not be there to actually help you. You may or may not get those "self checkout" kiosk things to actually work right the first time. But when it comes down to it, they have a decent selection of the things you need for basic survival. Prices are reasonable, and you can count on the weekly ad to have something you probably need on sale. I like to think of the whole thing as an adventure in self exploration. This is for the Peet's coffee in the Fred Meyer. I worked so long and hard to get your loyalty card punched to get my free beverage and then I go to redeem it and you tell me you don't accept the old punch cards anymore. This sucks because I have only had this punch card less than a year and also it was not offered to transfer all of my punches onto a new card. Also the new card sucks because you have to buy 9 beverages to get the 10th free. With my old card it was buy 5 beverages get the 6th free. I don't really care that they changed the punch card. The Customer service manager, Laura at this Fred Meyer is rude, she has zero customer service skills. I had purchased gift cards to a restaurant. When I went to use them, it didn't work. They were not activated. I paid for our lunch with cash. We went back to Fred Meyer to ask for a refund for the gift cards the manager, Laura said refused to give us a refund. She told me to read the fine print on the receipt. I told her I was going to contact Customer Service and she told me she's looking forward to it. Very inappropriate behavior for a store manager. We love shopping at this location. We find everyone to be friendly and helpful. Prices are competitive also. One thing that stood out to us was our Thanksgiving dinner. First time we thought of ordering a Turkey dinner all cooked. All we had to do was heat it up. The sides were frozen so that too was very easy. The Turkey was delicious and we even made soup from it.
