We rented the banquet room for a luncheon to celebrate and remember my dad, who passed away in December. We chose Mora as a general location since it's pretty much half way between Up North and The Cities. I started researching available space in the area and Mark was by far the easiest to work with and gave us the best quote. The space was perfect for what we needed, the food was outstanding, and we had the perfect level of service. We did the soup and salad buffet and people really were commenting on how good everything was- quality meats and cheeses, great soups made with fresh ingredients, and outstanding cakes. The room is nicely set up and it never felt overcrowded. I think we had about 80 people. All in all, the perfect venue for our needs. Can't say enough good things about the place, the staff, or the food. All was excellent. read more

In from Texas to visit my folks, etc. Reminder of the mom & pop restaurants of my youth. What Freddies may lack in high buck fanciness they make up for in friendliness, coziness, and tasty food! I got the country fried steak. It was better than the one I had on Monday in Texas! The hashbrowns with green peppers, onions, and cheese were pretty good. The pancakes were light and fluffy. I enjoyed my meal from start to finish. My mom enjoyed her Reubens and chicken dumpling soup. She even gotta quart to take home for dad. This is a local restaurant in a small town; nothing fancy but the food is good and the service attentive. We went in a Monday night and enjoyed the nightly special (pot roast) and breasted chicken. Freddy's was a nice touch to our hiking trip. An American restaurant with very good servers. Place looks like an ordinary restaurant but they have tried to personalize it with pictures, and stuffs. Food was good and fresh, presentation was good. We enjoyed our breakfast with an ease. I will come here again provided opportunity. read more

Service is slow! Went for lunch & it really wasn't that busy when we got there. Owner was wandering around telling everyone he had a new cook helping the cook that had been there 23 years, also mentioned that people were complaining about having to wait for an hour for their food but didn't ever go help out in the kitchen nor his wait staff. We waited at least an hour & 15 minutes for our food to come out while at least 4 other tables that sat down after us got their food first. Had no clue about this hidden gem. One of our friends took us there, after he raved about their food. We were in a breakfast mood. Amazing experience! The waitress was friendly and very accommodating. Their menu is 5 pages of food to order from. Bonus, they serve breakfast all day long. Was impressed when we pulled up as they had a Scandinavian welcome sign. My first thought Swedish pancakes. Oh yeah, they had them! They were delicious with the Lingonberries and butter. My only mistake was ordering slice of Elvis pie prior. I couldn't finish my breakfast. A must order though, banana cream with peanut butter pie to burst your taste buds. Only suggestion eat the breakfast first and take the slice of pie home for later. I wish this restaurant was closer to my house, as it would be a once a week spot for breakfast. read more

Dear Lord, where to start? Took my mother here for lunch on a Thursday. Waited 40 minutes for our order and finally gave it up. When I complained to the waitress, she wanted to argue about the timing (she claimed we were there for only half that time). Customer service tip #1: It's really never a good idea to argue with a pissed off customer about their experience. Also, I can tell time thank you very much. She then lectured me about how much time I should expect to spend in a restaurant for a 'sit down meal' (reference Customer service tip #1). Sorry lady, but this isn't exactly a 5 star restaurant. Speaking of which, I went to one of those last night and had appetizers, filet, pasta, desert and a bottle of wine with my wife. Full experience start to finish was less that 1 hour. I certainly was not still waiting to be served after 40 minutes (or even 20). If you are ever in Mora, drive right on by and go to Perkins instead. Even the day old hot dogs at the local gas station would be preferable. At least you will get to eat. read more

Freddie's is one of the worst restaurants I have ever been to. The wait staff is friendly enough but not even slightly experienced. The kitchen staff is completely incompetent. The decor hasn't changed since maybe the 80's, or at least it appears that way. The pricing would be good if the food was palatable. On this first and last visit, steaks ordered medium-rare arrived gray but yet somehow cooked medium-well to well done, and one of the sides was incorrect. Ribs were served almost warm in a soupy liquid of the freezer bag water they are packaged in. Vegetables are of the canned or frozen variety. The french fries were surprisingly ok though. Do yourself a favor and pass on this one. Drive to Cambridge if you have to. Freddie's has no redeeming qualities of any kind. Its just a dump. read more

Freddie's doesn't appear special or interesting from the outside, but when you get inside...It's a whole other story. The staff are very friendly and they keep track of regulars. The food has always been amazing and the service is sometimes a little longer for waiting if you go on weekends(as to be expected) but they apologize and take your drink orders. The bathrooms weren't as good, but you have a functioning toilet and sink. As for someone complaining about the look of the building...( ahem. Richard). It's suppose to have an older and more country like look. Its theme is around fishing. I would definitely recommend getting their breakfast stuff there!!! read more

We found this to be a great alternative to fast food on our way up to the North Shore. We ordered over the phone. We were told our food, on this Friday night at 5pm, would take 15 min. Pickup was convenient with a separate door on the left with a window. We were able to get plenty of condiments too. My partner had a Swiss burger sauté with added on tomato and lettuce with fries. I had an omelet with wheat toast and hash browns. We enjoyed our food and thought it was reasonably priced. We will stop back! read more

They also have a banquet room in back for meetings and an occasional comedy show (including nationally known names like JJ Walker and Louie Anderson) and the first Sunday of each month is the Freddie's brunch buffet! Tried this place based on the 4.5 star rating. Not sure if it lives up to that. We were there for lunch and service seemed a bit slow. When the orders came out my burger arrived and then a few minutes later my husbands burger arrived. Not sure if kitchen mixed up or server. When his burger arrived The sever asked if we needed anything else. I said yes a drink. She brought me a refill but not him. The food was average, I've had better and worse. Paying for the meal was confusing. It seems that each server has their own cash bag and not a central cash register. Frustrating after a slow meal to have to wait for the correct person to help you pay your bill. read more

There have been some changes recently. Freddie's's had been an outstanding local restaurant, but the last several meals (saute burgers w/fries and side salads) were very disappointing with greasy oily fries, overcooked hamburger and damp buns. The problems suggest that the fryer temperature is set too low, the buns are coming right out of a freezer without toasting/heating and the cook isn't monitoring the hamburgers adequately. This has happened several times in the last couple months. I hope Freddie's's returns its quality control back to where it was... it was great! read more

I've been going here for years with family. It was my grandma's favorite place to go in Mora while she was still alive. She loved to go for lunch and after church. I went today with my Mom and some of her friends. It is a locally owned and operated diner and the food options are just as you would expect. The bacon is delicious, the hasbrowns are good (would be amazing if the seasoned them while they were cooking) and the eggs were great if you got the over easy ones. The scrambled eggs were over cooked. The coffee is endless and good. This is the kind of place you go if you aren't in a hurry; while the waitstaff is always friendly and courteous, the food comes out slow so as long as you are patient you will not be disappointed. read more

Always fast and friendly service and good food! They do buffets for many holidays. They have the best broasted chicken in town! The Cannon family, who owns the restaurant, are very nice people, and Mark likes to strike up friendly conversations with guests a lot of times, especially regulars. Decided to take the family out for dinner and decided hadn't went to try Freddie's. Wish we hadn't. The service was terrible. One man was waiting tables. And he was complaining to all the customers that he was so overworked, and had take out orders so may have to run in back and drop everything. Even heard him tell a customer that was wanting to order a milk shake to go to Kwik Trip because it was a rip off at Freddie's for the "to go' cup for the malt at Freddie's. And later he told another guy that he was the manager! Wow. And neither him nor the other woman waitress wore masks to protect the customers. Very unprofessional.
