Review for Dr. Neil Waravdekar at Frederick Medical & Pulmonary Associates ​Date of Visit: September 29, 2025 ​Rating: 1 out of 5 Stars (Abysmal and Unethical) ​My experience with Dr. Neil Waravdekar at Frederick Medical & Pulmonary Associates was not only a complete waste of my time and resources but also unveiled what I believe to be a serious case of fraudulent medical record-keeping aimed at inflating charges. I urge all potential patients to be extremely cautious. ​Fabricated Medical Records and Misrepresentation of Care ​The Progress Note documented after my visit is a deliberate fabrication that fails to accurately reflect the brief, negligent encounter I had with the doctor. ​False Physical Examination: The record falsely states that Dr. Waravdekar performed a "comprehensive body examination." This is unequivocally untrue. The doctor performed only a brief cardiac and pulmonary (heart and lungs) check. No other body system was evaluated, making the documented exam a severe and unethical misrepresentation of the clinical service provided. ​Irresponsible Psychological Diagnosis: The documentation under "Psychological Evaluation" is medically negligent and appalling. After a mere five-minute encounter, Dr. Waravdekar concluded that I "do not have depression or anxiety." This conclusion is completely invalid given my history: I have been under the continuous, long-standing care of a psychiatrist and a therapist for the past seven years, with twice-weekly sessions. The attempt to rule out serious, chronic mental health conditions in such a cursory and unfounded manner is deeply troubling and appears to be manufactured solely to justify a more complex and expensive billing code (likely submitted to Medicare). ​Unacceptable Lack of Service and Professionalism ​I scheduled this appointment specifically for severe insomnia. I explicitly informed the front desk staff that I needed treatment for persistent sleep issues and already possessed a CPAP machine, making the reason for my visit clear. Despite this, within five minutes of speaking with Dr. Waravdekar, he dismissed me, stating he could not help and that he "only deals with CPAP issues," instructing me to see a specialist. ​This suggests gross incompetence by the office staff, who failed to properly triage my stated needs to align with the physician's admitted scope of practice, resulting in a wasted appointment and unwarranted billing. ​Lack of Accountability and Failure to Correct Records ​I formally requested the immediate and complete correction of this fraudulent progress note within seven business days of my visit. The practice has failed to comply. ​Furthermore, on October 13, 2025, I called the practice and spoke with the Office Manager, Kim, who provided an alarming response. She stated that "no one in the practice has an oversight of Doctor Neil, as they own the business." This statement demonstrates a shocking lack of accountability and suggests that Dr. Waravdekar operates without supervision, facilitating the creation of fraudulent medical records with impunity. ​Next Steps ​Due to the practice's failure to correct the fraudulent medical record, and the admission that they lack oversight of the physician, I am proceeding with my promised actions. I will not pay the bill for this negligent visit. ​I am reporting the false diagnosis and the entire fabricated report--which I view as a blatant and likely widespread scheme to fraudulently inflate charges to Medicare--to both the Medicare Anti-Fraud Unit and the State Medical Board. ​I encourage anyone who has experienced similar issues with Dr. Waravdekar or this practice to come forward. Years ago, my daughter had a very negative experience with Dr. Waravdekar, but I needed a surgical clearance from a pulmonologist so I decided to give another physician a chance at this practice. Honestly, I liked the PA Kelly Bell very much, but she should find another practice because my results are being held hostage by the office. My pulmonary function test was in October and I was VERY clear that I needed the results sent to my surgeon. THREE MONTHS later, I found out that my entire procedure was being held up because they never received my PFT results! When they were requested, I got a call from the office indicating that they would not release them until I had a follow up visit! If that is the case, WHY WAS I NOT TOLD THAT?!?! Now my surgery is postponed even further and I am furious that the hold-up is 100% due to FAILURE on the part of Frederick Medical & Pulmonary Associates. read more

Dr. Waravdekar see's my mom and she loves him. He takes the time to sit and talk with her. Several doctors will talk to me and not my Mom. Dr. Waravdekar pulled her chair right up to his when he found out Mom is hard of hearing. He even helped her with forms she should have in case of an emergency that will advise emergency medical personnel. I found the office staff to be pleasant and helpful. I haven't had any trouble with apt or billing. read more

One doctor at this practice reviewed my sleep study. It appears to have no diagnosis & is worthless. I got their bill & called but they can't help claiming the doctor was "moonlighting". If I want more I need to make an appointment. Really?!?! Then they said because he was moonlighting I'm not their patient but they do bill for him so I need to send them the money for his work. I recently had an appointment at Frederick Medical Pulmonary Associates, my first time seeing a olmonologist. My assigned physician was Dr. Neil Waravdekar. He was amazing. He reassured me, took lots of time, explained everything clearly, and worked with me to understand my symptoms and needs. I was amazed at the quality of the appointment and the clear information I received. I heartily recommend him, and thus this practice. I would not go to anyone else! read more

I have been to this practice off and on for years and I always got different info from the different doctors. They charged me for a missed visit when I was in the hospital. The worst is my last hospital stay. None of them wanted to see me. Claim I was non-compliant. Why? Maybe b/c I don't see them when I am healthy? I am so done w/ these jokers! read more

For more than a decade I have been under the pulmonary care of this group where Dr. Waravdekar has been my caregiver. He and his staff are conscientious, caring, considerate and always give me their complete time and attention during my visits When you come into this office you know immediately that you are their primary concern. Your overall well-being to prevent illness or cure and control a condition that you may have is why they are in this medical practice. Without hesitation I recommend this fine practice as an outstanding group of medical experts who stay on the cutting edge of the latest pharmaceuticals and procedures for their patients. read more

Scheduled an appointment - confirmed it - arrived - was told that my appointment was a week later - confronted them with the date and time and they told me I was wrong. Did I want to keep the appointment THEY had scheduled. Could not and would not work me in the day I arrived (based on a phone call confirmed appointment). This is the worst practice. All about the over priced charges and not about the patient. I had two sleep studies there when I should have had one. The second one took the tech over a month to process the data even with repetitive calls or my inquiring why it was taking so long. My scheduled surgery date was almost pushed back because of them dragging their heels on doing their job . It was very stressful. I made an initial down payment (credit) on my account and they shorted my account right out of the gate. My insurance made payments and adjustments during the past months as well. I was late making a payment while waiting for my insurance to finish processing their payments and adjustments and Fred. Pulmonary sent my account to collections. Other specialists that I went to months before I went to them did not treat me like this in their practice. Frederick Pulmonary sent me a certified letter with insults regarding my bill which I find in poor taste for a medical practice. When they sent my bill to collections they added a $795 collection fee on top of my bill. I called the billing office and brought to their attention that they had made an error in my account but the woman just brushed it off. I never got to see the main Pulmonary doctor and only saw his assistance. When I called the office today to go over my bill I pointed out that she made an error on my charges against the payments I made on my account. She had the nerve to tell me "well if you had paid even $20 on your account we would not have sent it to collections". If she had not made an error in her math in the first place she could have taken those payments out of the credit I was supposed to have on my account! So yesterday I made a fat payment to that collections company but now Frederick Pulmonary can just sit and grow grey while waiting for the rest of their money! If they had even been remotely patient and proficient with my account, the fat payment I made to collections yesterday would have almost paid it off in full in their office! Pretty pathetic to treat patients like this. Oh and btw... they told me I had asthma during my tests which is a complete joke since I have never had a day of asthma in my 52 years of life. Wanted me to do all these follow ups with their asthma specialist. No thank you! I will be filing a grievance with my insurance company and I have contacted the BBB. read more

Today was my first visit. I was very pleased with the time and attention I received from my doctor. He reviewed my medical history thoroughly and scheduled reasonable tests to establish a baseline for the future. read more

I was taken for three office visits, making me pay three different co-pays and making my insurance company pay three times for a grand total of 35 minutes of visit time. First visit, I met the doctor...got my blood pressure checked and listened to me breathe, but he said his technician left early, so I couldn't get the PFT done. 10 mins total... Second visit, they did the test, but the doctor left early for a meeting. 15 mins total. Third time was to come in for a follow up with the doctor where all he did was the same as the first visit; check blood pressure and breathing. 10 mins total. I was told by the front office that many insurances won't cover the test and Dr. visit together...sounded strange, so I called my insurance, and they said of course they would...makes me wonder how it gets submitted. The office staff's response to what I said my insurance said? "They will tell you what you want to hear.". Bottom line, be sure to check with your iinsurance beforehand to see if they'll cover the test and consultation together, and be sure they schedule both together. read more
