I think I just met the most honest , kind knowledgeable dentist on the planet. My mom had been a long time patient of Dr Fruhling as she lived in the apartments behind his office for the past 40 years. She moved and tried a new dentist because she had a HMO dentist and is on a limited budget. After going to the HMO dentist who did a bunch of extra things deep scale cleaning , tomogram X-rays that dentist decided my mom's cracked tooth should be replaced with a 12 k implant . She's 85 and really cannot afford this. She told me she was going to see Dr. Fruhling about this cracked tooth for another opinion. He was able to repair this tooth for her and it's perfectly fine and going on 2 years now. Today I took her in for a cleaning and X-rays . I finally met Dr Fruhling the dentist that she adores and now I know why. He's incredibly knowledgeable and practical he discussed a treatment plan for 3 month cleanings for my mom and she did not need anything else. I was anticipating cavities , filling cracked teeth as I just found out she has dementia and was not taking care of herself. I am so grateful for him. If I lived closer I would definitely be going to him. read more

I was a customer at Cravens Dental over 20 years ago. I always had a great experience. Then I moved and I bounced around between 10 other dental offices and even more practitioners. I was desperate for the same experience I had years ago at Cravens Dental, so I called up my favorite dentist who retired (I had his personal phone number) and I asked him for help. He told me that Dr. Frederick Fruhling was the most honest dentist he knew. He was right about the honesty. Dr. Fruhling didn't try to oversell and I magically no longer need deep cleaning and my gum pockets are normal, contrary to the other dentists I have seen in the last several years. Dr. Fruhling is also a kind man and the people that chose to work for him reflect that. The staff is also kind and actually care about their patients as human beings. Greatest dentists ever! I happily see either Dr. Rick or Dr. Bishoff. Our whole family have been patients for years. Entire staff is so friendly that we feel like family. This is THE BEST dentist I have ever been to. Their topical numbing technique was so good that I did not even feel the shots that came after. The prices were so good, I had no trouble paying them that same day and received 10% off for doing so and another $20 off for NOT having dental insurance! I've been a patient at Dr. Fruhling's office for as long as he's had his own practice and I would not consider going anywhere else. Not only is the staff friendly, accommodating, and professional - they are good at what they do! I mostly go for cleaning and minor issues (I credit Dr. Fruhling & staff for preventing any major issues), but even on cleanings they are thorough and detail oriented. Dr. Fruhling came highly recommended, and he and his AWESOME team lived up to their praises. Hands down, the best dentist/dental team I have ever been to. Thorough, kind, efficient, and funny. I was told this was a great office but after my personal experience I found that it wasn't. Dr. Fruhling preformed a root canal and some and fillings on other teeth. After his work I felt pain every time I bit down. He tried to fix it several times then denied he did anything wrong but out of the "goodness" of his heart he refilled the teeth he had done and magically the pai. Went away. Still to this day my back teeth are not right and I regret ever going there. The staff was very nice and friendly though. I will never go back or recommend this place to anyone. read more

The only reason why I am giving Dr. Fruhling's office two stars is because I really liked Dr. Fruhling and his hygienist. This office just needs more organization and honesty when it comes to letting people know whether their insurance is in-network or not. I went to the office to have a routine cleaning done. When I made my appointment, I asked if they accepted my insurance and I was told, "yes". A month later, I get a bill in the mail for $100. I called the office to inquire about the bill just thinking it was a mistake, and Karen (the person who answered the phone) stated that "their office is not in network with any type of insurance". I asked why I was not informed of this before I had anything done and her reply was, "Well, we don't tell anyone that we are not in network. It is your responsibility to know if we are in network". Here is my problem with her response; If you know you are not in network with ANY type of insurance, shouldn't you let the patients know, especially when patients ask if your office accepts their insurance? Not everyone knows how to ask specific questions like, "are you in or out of network?" A better reply would be, "We can bill your insurance, but we are not in network with any type of insurance, so please know that you may incur some cost." Let the patients make the call instead of springing a bill on them later! What a shame. In all of the years I have gone to the dentist for a simple cleaning, I have never had to pay out-of-pocket for any part of a simple cleaning. Obviously, since they make it a point to not tell anyone they aren't in network with ANY type of insurance, I am letting viewers know to be prepared to pay out-of-pocket for some of the cost. read more

Can't believe I am the first to review Dr. Fruhling. Best Dentist in the world. Been seeing him 20 years since I moved to L.A. A master of his profession, warm, caring, competitive and fair pricing, amazing his staff are all equally warm and caring and professional. I drive an hour each way (they are my teeth, after all) and I send many friends to him who usually call me soon as they leave his office to say it was their best dentist experience ever. I recently broke my back tooth eating my favorite Chinese chicken salad. It was very sensitive to cold, so I was in a panic to get my tooth fixed quickly. Plus my work schedule was out of control that week. Dr. Fruhling's office was amazing. They worked me into the schedule that day. Dr Fruhling told me I would need a crown. This would be my second crown to fix the tooth. The first crown was done at another office years ago, and took three office visits to complete. I was so happy when Dr. Fruhling told me he could do every thing that day. They have this high tech machine that makes it right there. In fact I got to watch while it was benign made. Oh and no more impressions, Juan the Dental Assistant use this wand that took pictures of my tooth instead. The whole visit only took one hour and 30 minutes. The technology Dr. Fruhling uses makes your appointment more comfortable. I highly recommend this office. The staff are caring and friendly. I love my new crown. read more

Dr. Fruhling has been my dentist since I moved to the Los Angeles area about 18 years ago. I still go to him even though I have moved and it takes me about 30 minutes to drive to see him. He and his staff do a nice job, are personable, and practical in their approach to dentistry. I see him twice a year for cleanings, and I follow their recommendations to make sure I stay on top of keeping my teeth/gums healthy. I have fairly sensitive teeth, and they are congnizant of that and do their best to keep me comfortable. I have seen 3 of their hygienists over the years (who I see is dependent on my day off), and they have all been caring and knowledgable. I have been fortunate and never have had major work done, but I did get to see how they treated a patient who needed work when my girlfriend had a complication with her crown and a cavity a year ago. She was in bit of pain, and they found a way to work her into their schedule quickly. Dr. Fruhling was able to save the tooth, and fixed the crown, and did so at a fee that I felt was very fair, especially considering the work that was involved. I am a small busines owner myself, and could appreciate what they did to make everything turn out well, and yet did so with modesty. I have recommended Dr. Fruhling's office to people who were looking for a dentist. My own associate goes to his office and sees his partner, and she is very satisfied with the work that has been done on her. read more

Great, friendly dentist! I just got 2 teeth pulled by Dr. Fruhling and it couldn't have been easier. It was super easy to get the appointment time I wanted and he was able to get it done in less than an hour. He was very friendly and made sure I was comfortable the whole time. Best dentist in the South Bay. My husband starting going to him then the rest of the family joined him after the excellent dental care he received. My college age kids along with my 90 year old father (as well as friends I have referred) see him and everyone is 100% happy.
