Dr Pennings is a talented surgeon and has an incredible bedside manner. I had anterior spinal surgery in January and feel great now.

My Primary Care Physician had opined that the rotator cuff might be the problem, and that cortisone might help. Within hours of the procedure, the pain was gone! Yesterday, on March 29, 2026, while visiting my wife in her hospital room, I leapt from my chair to prevent (successfully) a table from falling over and caused excruciating pain in that shoulder. My phone call to N.E. Orthopedics today confirmed my suspicion that it was too soon for a follow-up shot, but I was dismayed to hear that their company might not want me to return. Frankly, I was so shocked to learn that information that I merely hung up without seeking an explanation.

I realized after answering a couple questions that it was an AI receptionist. It said it couldn't help me with the thing I was calling about and offered to transfer me to a receptionist. The 2nd and 3rd time I called I said "speak to a receptionist" as clearly and loudly as I could and ALL 3 TIMES the phone disconnected before I got to anyone. When I finally got through, their next available appointment, despite having a referral from my doctor, was in 2 months. How are they the biggest orthopedic group in the area???

Dr. Anderson has a great rating on healthgrades.com and I'm sure is a fantastic doctor but…read moreunfortunately, I was unable to find out how good. The receptionist, Heather, was completely rude and incompetent. Without getting into too many details, I am need of spinal surgery due to slipped disk or worse, according to my spine doctor and I am in terrible pain. I need surgery immediately. Due to some confusion regarding insurance, which I have, she seemed to only want to turn me down and push me away. I can't believe how mean and unfeeling someone could be towards someone else. Dr. Anderson, you should seriously consider replacing Heather. She is NOT an asset to your practice.

Overall I would rate my experience(including Heather), start to finish,as excellent, and far beyond my expectations. I started having pain from spinal stenosis , and a slipped disc that left me unable to stand, walk, sleep.... I was referred to Dr. Anderson, and within a month(it's a very long surgery and takes some time to line everything up) I had my operation. After 2 days at Mercy hospital(also an excellent experience) I went home. The next morning as I got out of bed I slowly realized that the stenosis pain was gone. Absolutely gone. I'm still dealing with the post-op pain, stemming from a whole lot of work on the affected area, which decreases every day. I would absolutely recommend Dr. Anderson and his very professional team.
