Between him and his staff they are true professionals that do an amazing job making me feel relaxed, comfortable and worry free. I've had a total of 6 teeth extracted, which included my front 4 teeth on the top and each time it was pain and hassle free. Dr. Feeney added a personal touch by calling to check on me and make sure I'm good after each procedure. His caring goes a long way and for that I am very grateful. Becoming a patient of Dr. Carpio's raised my bar impossibly and I am afraid I am now spoiled for life. Dr. Carpio did an implant for me this year, to replace a molar that is been long missing. No implant is a simple task, but my case was particularly challenging. I needed a bone graft first and then a gum graft because having lost the tooth so long ago had left me with none that could support the implant. Dr. Carpio was not only super skilled and knew how to deal with every complication my case presented, she was also incredibly caring. She explained to me everything, did a great job at minimizing pain after procedures, and managed to put me at ease at the hardest times. I never waited at her office ever and yet she spent a considerable amount of time with me at every visit. The implant turned out to be impeccable and now I have a full mouth of teeth again. Dr. Carpio also referred me to a wonderful general dentist, when my previous one did not step up to the task and I was left in a pickle. Dr. Carpio's office staff also follows the example she sets in excellence and kindness. Everybody from receptionists to hygienists have been wonderful, but especially Aniko - who is I think the best dental assistant I've ever seen. She welcomes you with a smile, calls to check on you after visits, helps you out with last minute appointments, and even watches out for your financial interests. I had been going to this location for my dental cleanings since before it was taken over by Brian Van Slotten. I stayed with the practice after it changed hands, and kept my regular dental care with him. He seemed caring and I thought put the patient's best interest at the forefront. I was mistaken. I have a family history of breast cancer, and I prefer not to be exposed to radiation, of any level, unnecessarily. I had my usual cleaning and was told that, "I am due for X-rays" since it had been 1 year since my last one. I do not have any dental issues, no cavities, and felt that if it wasn't necessary, can we skip them. The dental hygienist, went to Brian Van Slotten, and told him this. Brian Van Slotten, then came over to the area I was having my teeth cleaned and told me that he would let this time be an exception, but I had to have it done at my next 6 month cleaning, or he wouldn't see me as a patient anymore. I said ok, sitting reclined in the chair, and wanting to finish my cleaning. Fast forward 6 months later, I came in for my usual cleaning. I was told I had to get X-rays. I told the hygienist that the American Dental Association recommends X-rays every 2-3 years, as needed. He verified that I had no health issues that required an X-ray, and told me that he wouldn't clean my teeth if I didn't get an Xray because Brian Van Slotten required it. At that moment, I realized, they are not looking out for my best interest, but to be able to bill my insurance the maximum it can for each visit. There have been other issues with the practice that I let slide, but this one hit home because they were willing to make a policy about X-rays supersede a patient's radiation exposure risk with a family history of cancer.
