Had my old '88 Chevy car seat repaired at Fred's yesterday and it looks great. I included before and after photos and you can see the large hole on the side is gone and the seat cushion was re-padded. I didn't realize until now that the seat was so flat that the stich running the width of the seat had totally disappeared. It's back now and matches the passenger seat, plus I'm seated higher and have better visibility. I worked with Noah who is very nice and knowledgeable. I've dealt with Fred's Auto Top Shop a long time ago and was very impressed with Noah's work. So here I am again with another job for him to work on. First I like to mention that he's very knowledgeable about customizing, repairing items and your upholstery needs. Your in good hands when you bring your vehicle or household items to reupholster here. This time I had an issue with sunroof sunshade sagging. That's the cloth section the slides front to back below the sunroof. With Hawai'is weather and sun it was bound to happen. I was really surprised on how many vehicles have this issue and there was no way I was going to take it in to the dealership and get gouged. I scheduled an appointment, dropped it off in the morning and picked it up after I finished work. They did a excellent job as they also redid my headliner also because it had to be removed anyway to access the sunshade unit. Being that my SUV is 9 years old already, it was time to do it. He also replace the fabric on a Sling Chair that I had forever, looks awesome now. Fyi; Sunshade replacement is not a cheap job to do, so be prepared. I figured I'm going to keep my SUV for a while and didn't want to look at that irritating cloth piece hanging down. Great customer service! He was super helpful, knowledgeable of his trade, very friendly, and very patient with me. Noah gave his honest and expert opinion on how to replace my interior roofing for my truck. When I brought in my truck for installation, Noah was very helpful and friendly. He answered all of my questions. They completed my installation of my new interior roofing at an epic timescale and was beautifully done as well. $400 for my convertible's headliner! Same day installation! That's the best price for this troublesome vehicle. I called 6 shops for estimates in January. Noah at Fred's was the only shop that explained there could be a hidden issue of my specific vehicle and gave me 2 quotes, just in case. In March, the rest of the liner finally came down, messing up my hair. I called to set up the appointment. Dropped it off on Monday morning so they could inspect and estimate the work needed. Got a call at 3:30 saying she was ready! Their shop is huge and pretty darn organized. Noah is organized, friendly, knowledgeable. Best of all, he is honest. Didn't over promise and didn't overcharge. HIGHLY recommend this shop. My Honda is gonna be there in a couple of years, I'm sure. read more

After dealing with a bad headliner for a little while with the adhesive blowing all over the place, I took my Volvo here for a new headliner (including sun shade). I was able to quickly book an appointment, and Noah had my car in and out the same day, was very communicative, did a great job, all for a good price. Initially reached out using the "request a quote" feature on Yelp after discovering the headliner in my Honda Accord was slowly drooping and received a response immediately. Stopped by the business to get a quote in person and Noah was patient in explaining the process, helping me pick a fabric, and providing a reasonable quote. We asked Noah (owner of Fred's Auto Top) to make SUP Paddle Covers for us - the cover I needed to replace had started to fray badly. He took the time to carefully discuss the dimensions for the cover; he even had us return before he did the final sewing so that he got it right. Ours were the first SUP paddle covers that Noah made, now he has a template. He made us three beautiful, unique, adjustable, padded SUP paddle covers made of water resistant sunbrella material and with a good quality zipper. The covers look so durable, we don't know when we will need to replace them but if we do, he will be the person we will call. Noah is such a nice person, we feel we have a new friend of the family. If you are in the market for a quality and durable SUP Paddle cover (or several), call them first. read more

You know a business is on point when they are a first responder. I put out a request to repair the backs of two sofa cushions on yelp. Noah at Fred's was the first to get back to me. His "greeting with a smile" and professional yet easy going demeanor, when we met, were both positive signs. This is a second generation family business which was started by Noah's father, Fred. When Noah presented me with an initial fabric for the repair, I wasn't sure, he proceeded to find 2 other options. After consideration, I realized the first was, indeed, the best. Great guidance and speedy service. 2 days later, my cushions were repaired! I'm sure that Fred is looking down on his son, Noah with a "proud papa" grin on his face. read more

These guys are the easiest guys to work with! They did an awesome job on my Toyota Avalon door armrest and middle armrest. I totally forgot to take before pics, but the reason why I came to Noah and Craig was because I seen work they did on the exact same thing on another Avalon. Location- Address takes you to the building but can be confusing. Look for the ramp on the side and the shop is on the 2nd floor near the back. Price- Reasonable for the work involved and the professional appearance Spoke to Noah at Fred's on the phone and thought this would be the best place to get my headliner replaced. Went to the shop to see the fabric and allow him to see my headliner to get a better estimate. Noah was very friendly and explained everything. Managed to squeeze me in the next day. Dropped my car off at 8 a.m and was finished by 3 p.m. New headliner looks great and very happy with the results and the slight change in color. Highly recommend. read more

I had a tear in my armrest, and needed it to get repaired. Toyota only offered a whole replacement of the door panel. I brought my Toyota Avalon in to see if Noah and the crew could help me repair it. He took a look at it, and scheduled me QUICK!! I was shown the in stock replacements, and in a few hours I got a call it was done. The material and work was quality, and I think it's better than the manufacturer. Stitching was excellent, and it was above my expectations. I made a shot in the dark selecting Fred's Auto Top Shop, and I think I made a great decision. Just a tip, to get to the shop, use the ramp on the side of the building to the top level. Customer service was the best!! Mahalo!! read more

I stopped by the shop to see if they could make a small repair to the side seam of my dog's soft-sided crate. I fully expected to have to leave the crate for a while, but Noah offered to make the repair while I waited. I was going to ask him to reinforce the stitching on the seams, but he offered to do it without me having to ask. Great job and although he cautioned me that the fit might be a little snug, it went on easily. Will definitely go back if I need repairs done. And remember to say hello to his dog! read more

We kept some of our furniture from our original home because we had them custom-made and I'll admit to being too sentimental. However, there were pieces that we've "donated" to my husband's nephew and niece because they were too large to fit into our downsized apartment. We have gone furniture shopping to get some smaller pieces for our living and dining room but I got the "bright idea" to replace upholstery and re-configure our dining room chairs. I remembered that we had used M. Magdaleno's many years ago to reconfigure and re-upholster a loveseat but that was when they were located on Auahi Street, now SALT at Our Kaka'ako fills the space. So, thanks to Yelp, I found Magdaleno's who had relocated to Kalihi. Shortly before Christmas, we took in 4 dining room chairs and 2 counter high stools for a work quote, select fabrics and leave a deposit. His workshop was jam packed with other jobs from other customers. Being that the Christmas Holiday was upcoming, we understood that the postal service would be overtaxed so we told Martine to hold onto our furniture but go ahead with the fabric orders. We weren't in a rush to have it done but, we had just received our move-in schedule for late January 2017. According to Martine, it took about a week for our fabric to arrive and he estimated that it would take him just a few days to re-upholster our chairs. We waited until January 9th to request status of our project. Martine confirmed that he had just completed 2 chairs that morning and everything would be completed by Wednesday. He invited us to come down to take a look or we could just wait until all was completed to pick them up. We couldn't help ourselves and went down on that day to check it out. The workmanship is fabulous and our vision to reconfigure the high-backed dining room chairs made a World of difference. It turned out that the price for the fabric and expert craftsmanship on 4 dining room chairs and 2 stools cost us slightly less than 2 of our chairs when bought new. I highly recommend M. Magdaleno's for upholstery needs.... just a warning, his workshop is in an industrial area and there is limited parking (there are a few stalls in front of his workshop). Also, he has a van but I don't know if he picks up and/or delivers the furniture projects because we brought ours in. I strongly believe that he does pick up and deliver, though.

So I don't think this is an established business, perhaps maybe it's a startup side hustle. Even if they didn't want to work with me for whatever reason, its professional to simply state that they can't take on the job like any other businesses would do. So, yeah not sure what's going on with this business but total lack of communication which is not pono. I had no issue with the guy that came out for the quote either, so I don't know what happened here.

I've included in this review, before and after pics to show his outstanding, professional work. Also, he fixed my cushion very quickly within a couple of days. NEWEST UPDATE: Aloha folks -- i've updated my review as…read morethere has been some progress. Greg reached out to me explaining that based on the video I sent, it appeared that the ceramic coating was working, but not how it should be. He asked if I could bring the vehicle in so that his team could wash it, and verify this in person. We agreed that I would drop my vehicle off on Friday. This will allow for a pickup on Saturday. Upon drop off, his guys, Zane and Kato accepted the vehicle and tested the ceramic. Right away, Zane said that it wasn't reacting correctly. I left my keys with them and was told that the vehicle would be ready for pickup the following day and I would be notified by call or text. Saturday -- Premiere is open until 6pm. Once 5pm came around I was admittedly starting to get a little bit nervous seeing as how I needed my car for work on Monday, and I knew they were closed on Sunday. I attempted to call and received no response. Living closeby, I just decided to head over. I got there about 540pm. Greg was there detailing the interior of a car. He had plenty of vehicles to take care of. He was friendly and apologized for the lack of communication, citing that he was swamped with the influx of vehicles. He explained that my car was "done" but that he, himself, had taken issue with it. When we approached my car, it was clear that work had been done. But upon closer inspection, there were water spots on my glass and streak marks on areas, exacerbated by the light from his cell phone flashlight. He was able to quickly wipe some of them off. He again apologized and said that he didn't like the work that was done and asked if he could keep my vehicle until Tuesday so that it could be completely redone. This I respect. Alot. For a boss to take ownership of their work and the work of their employees goes a long way. I left it -- picked it up on Tuesday. The car looks fantastic. Here's to waiting it out and see if the ceramic holds this time around. Very glad that I chose the boys at Premiere. Will update in a week :) ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Aloha all! Second time using the boys at Premiere Island Auto Detail. They did an amazing job on my camaro, that I felt it only right to use them for our SUV. My last interactions with Greg (the owner) and his team were nothing short of amazing. He is a personably guy. I reached out to them asking for an interior and exterior detail on my 2023 Mazda CX50. After some back and forth on the services, I ended up changing my service to a "basic" ceramic coating (which includes an exterior detail to prep it) and full interior detail. The price was amazing. Greg takes care of his customers. I wont mention it here as pricing can always change. As a reminder to anyone reading this -- its always a nice gesture to tip them, though, not required. Greg was able to take my car pretty quickly. I made the appointment for a drop off on Saturday. For those of you that don't know, ceramic coatings require a curing time, and therefore, I needed to leave my vehicle overnight. The garage is secure and under surveillance. It is easily accessible in the downtown area. I came back the next morning to pickup my car. It looked stellar! The lighting really makes the cars pop too. The exterior looked brand new (minus water spots that apparently weren't able to be removed from the 3m decals). The interior also looked great. I had some minor pet fur still embedded, but nothing to harp about. I noticed that the trunk space wasn't addressed though. No biggie. Now the reason for my decrease in rating: I want to start off by reiterating that Greg and his team are excellent dudes to work with. They are friendly, fast, and do good work. My Mazda, this time around, just isn't what I expected from them. I haven't been able to get back for the car wash because the weather has been awful -- so its been a little bit of time since the coating. There are some spots where the ceramic is noticeable. Particularly under the side mirrors, you can see the coating is still there and streaked on. The new formula that they used on this "basic" coating, definitely shows a difference. Maybe this coating only included one pass over, i'm not sure, but the beading effect just isn't there. Dirt and grime still clings to the car and it doesn't wash off with water. The roof doesnt appear to have been coated, but I could be wrong. The wheels were not coated. I am unsure if the glass was coated. The trim appears to have been coated but not wiped off properly. Anyway, do I recommend them? Absolutely. I still think they do good work at a great price. However, I would strongly encourage you to ask about their options for ceramic coating and not get a lesser package. Mahalo Premiere
