Shoutout to Vulcan Towing & Recovery - Anchorage, Alaska…read more On August 11, 2025 I set out to haul away a very old sailboat with a cracked hull and what I soon found out had a rotten trailer tire to the Anchorage Regional Landfill. The plan went sideways fast when one of the trailer tires blew out, the rim hit the road, and I had to limp into the Carr's Quality Center Aurora Village parking lot. A couple of towing companies told me flat-out, "No way, we're not set up to handle a boat." Then I called @Vulcan Towing & Recovery. Without hesitation, they said: "No problem, we'll be right there." Sure enough, they arrived quickly, and within 10 minutes had the boat safely loaded up and on its way to its final resting place. I'm grateful for their professionalism, quick response, great attitude, and willingness to go the extra mile--literally--to help me get the job done. Meanwhile, as I was moving a car to make room in my driveway for the drop-off, the car i was moving stalled in the middle of my street and would not re-start, nor could I push it out of the street because the electronic transmission wouldn't allow me to put it into neutral unless the car was running. I had to leave it in the street while I went to meet Daut, the tow truck driver. Daut communicated with me several times leading up to the pick-up to update his status for arrival. I meet him at the pick-up and told him about my situation at home. He said he could probably help me get it into neutral. When we arrived home he was able to maneuver his truck to place the car he towed right where I needed it, despite my other car being in the way. He then he spent a fair amount of time helping to get the other car out of neutral and started, but nothing worked. Daut said he needed to go to another pick-up but would come back if I couldn't get the car started and out of the road while he was gone. While he was gone I failed to get the car started and out of the street. True to his word Daut came back and masterfully got my car, which would not roll, out of the street and into my warm garage! It took a long time to wait for the parts only to find out the wrong parts were ordered so I had to wait longer. Finally got my car in and had to wait for over a month to get it back and when I did they over charged me compared to the estimate. The paint department mixed the color wrong and had to redo it so I got charged for their mistake! With the other variables I was charged a extra $2000. When I got my car it had a broken windshield with the rear view mirror hanging off it and a hole in the glass so I had to replace a new windshield. The drivers door is scratched up and the interior material is cut like something went through the window with such force it broke the rear view mirror. Put a hole in the windshield and scratched up the door. With no explanation to what happened! It only needed the outside bumpers fixed it's hard to understand why the interior is damaged! They said they would fix it. I called. Couple weeks later and they haven't ordered all the parts. And no word yet what's going on. Then I called Tiny's, and got a quote for half as much as anyone else. He called me back a little later to tell me that he was having equipment problems. I assumed that meant that he was cancelling and I'd need to find someone else. I was wrong. He told me that we had a deal and he was going to make it work. He rented another truck, bought a bunch of new equipment, and got me home. He also didn't charge me anything extra. I hope I never need to make a call like this again. But if I do, there's no question who I'm calling. You should call him too.
