Steak fingers, sweet potato curly fries, Fried Pickles
    Landon F.

Service was great the entire time my cup didn't even get close to empty and the waiter was helpful in suggestions on the menu. Food as far as good steak fingers go, these were upper tier, they had a nice flavor that was complimented by the white gravy that comes with the plate. But the sweet potato curly fries are what really sold me they were thin but held all the flavor I love and hope for from a sweet potato fry. Good music taste as well it wasn't blasted but was a nice background to my conversations.

Half chicken meal with green beans and a biscuit

Amazing! For as simple as fried chicken is a lot of places can mess it up... but not here. They're doing it right! Chicken is crispy yet light, meat is tender and juicy, and the sides have some love put into them for sure. The chips and queso was awesome and when we ran out of chips they were happy to give us a fresh batch without us even asking or charging us more. Our kids loved it and ate almost everything on their plate, which is a major win. The green beans were insanely good but all of the sides looked incredible. Lots of different condiments to go with the chicken. If I were to have any negative criticism it would be that I thought the chicken could've benefited from a little more flaky salt out of the fryer. Then again, my taste hasn't been the same since I've had Covid 3 times. Lol Overall a 9/10 for me. Awesome CLEAN atmosphere, great food, and good service.

Excellent food and service! Wanted to try this new place out and it didn't disappoint! The staff were attentive and friendly. The chicken on my salad was cooked to perfection. So much flavor and the perfect crisp. Kids had the stake bites and curly fries. The fries were so good! The vibe and ambiance are laid back. Really cool how they have the kitchen open where you can see them cooking.

This is The Urban Cowboy with an extra side of green beans because their green beans are DELICIOUS!!

So many times in college, I would stop by Jimenez mid-day for my fix of their Three Amigos plate: Asado de Puerco, Carne Guisada, & Picadillo. Served with a fair helping of chips and salsa, it was a perfect lunch. Their tacos made them one of the best spots in Lubbock. Their placement in the Top 50 Taco Joints in Texas by Texas Monthly is well deserved. On Saturday, the game changes as they serve a Texas Monthly recognized barbecue. Their brisket is delectable, their sausage has a perfect kick, and all their sides are delightful. One of their delights is the La Tia. A barbecue sandwich except it's served on a house-made concha. Holy smokes. It's sugary and if served with brisket, is a glorious creation. I was driving through Lubbock and had to make a stop when I found out they were serving barbecue on a Friday. I got their Brisket Specialty Taco: two corn tacos with beans, shredded cheese, fried egg, and, of course, brisket. In addition, because my greed has no bounds, I got their Philthy Taco: 2 corn tacos, fried egg, potatoes, salsa ranchero, queso, and their smoked barbacoa. I called ahead and ordered before they closed at 2 pm and picked them up right at 1:57 pm (praise the lord). I mowed down both of them. For two tacos, they are most filling. I would've been full off of one. I am still wowed by what they can whip up. It's to-go only as Jimenez runs a small little shop on 34th Street, but they pack it with a ton of love and might. They're some of the best people in Lubbock, and Lubbock gives them all the love back. They just simply don't miss. RIYL: Mexican pastries, tacos, and barbecue

My first time I went, my group of guys and I were put in a room with all the other white people. Not to say they were profiling, but looking at the rest of the restaurant's population on a busy Sunday, they had us in the gringo room. The food hit. I get putting a bunch of three-taco-plate-and-queso people in one room. I have not been back in quite a while, but I remember their menu being the most behemoth-looking thing ever. Every item had a picture taken on a Coolpix camera, and the text was almost impossible to read on the menu's busy background. That is proof that the food was going to hit. After returning, the menu has been minimized to be more readable, only slightly keeping that same over-the-top flair. The prices have gone up slightly, but where have they not? On a Thursday night, we were seated immediately around 7:30 and had a pretty attentive waitress. Like every good Tex-Mex joint in Texas, their chips and salsa roam freely through the restaurant, and the salsa has a good kick that is easy to manage while still having the heat everyone wants. They also have a creamy green sauce and other sauces they bring out by request. I ordered a combination plate with a crispy beef taco, a beef burrito, and a chicken enchilada with a side of Mexican rice. I added a side of refried beans because no Tex-Mex meal is complete without a big serving of refried beans to mix with the rice and crush with tortilla chips. The crispy taco was unreal. The shell feels like it was double-fried. It has such an incredible hardness to it. It feels premium. The beef burrito and enchilada were great as well, but I was blown away by the taco to an extreme. They have a pretty broad selection of Mexican beers, including Tecate, Bohemia, Dos Equis Amber, Modelo Negra, and Victoria next to your Coronas, Sol, and Dos Equis. Their margaritas are pretty great, if my memory serves me right, as well. I love this place, and I was glad to give it a revisit while being back in Lubbock for a bit. It is just classic and timeless. I just wish their menu was as much of an eyesore as it used to be because that sucker brought me so much joy. RIYL: Gaining five pounds in an hour. A good meal.

The restaurant is large and has plenty of seating. We were seated quickly on a Friday evening. Like most mexican, tex-mex restaurant, we were given chips and salsa to start. I feel like I'm not usually picky with something so simple. However, the chips didn't seem to have enough flavor. I felt like it could have used more salt. The salsa also tasted a bit off. Specifically, it tasted more sour than I would have liked. I ordered a bistec plate (not sure what it was specifically as I'm writing this a few weeks from my original visit). There was sauteed beef with onions, peppers, mushrooms, and bacon. It was delicious! Everything was flavored nicely. Went great inside the warm flour tortillas that were provided. The sides of mexican rice and pinto beans were good as well. Aside from the food, the service was great. Attentive and kind. I still wish I could have paid for this meal, especially now in retrospect. My Lubbock host was too quick and went ahead and paid for the two of us. As we left, there was something wrong with the doors on the way out. I don't remember that being an issue as we came in. One of the sets of doors just seemed to jam. It was probably just me though (it was). Overall, I'd recommend this place! Maybe it was an off day for the chips and salsa. Otherwise, everything was great.
